Here is the graduation page... I don't know if you read it, I know I haven't but there might be something on there. Hope this helps!

Depending on where you park, there may be a bit of sand--think of places where auxiliary parking is on dirt, adjacent to a paved area--but you won't ever be far from a paved area. the "parade" area is all paved. I observed guests / family at all levels of dress from quite informal to dressy. What I recommend is to be comfortable. As an example, jeans can be dressed up with a nice blouse & blazer. I wouldn't wear a suit or--God forbid--anything requiring pantyhose!!

We had adopted a few of the corpsmen who went through FMTB with Son1 . . . once word got out from the early liberty partners that we fed them steak, several wanted to come. ;-) I've just gone through my second "wave" of sailors, including one who completed training w/Son2 passing through on leave . . . it's like having extended family!

Oh, yeah, I am going to want to buy T-shirts. I have asked him a couple of times but he doesn't really know yet.  Thanks for looking for me!

Heavy sigh. Nothing in the program, as I mentioned, and nothing in my posts with other FMTB moms. Double check with your son, but I think mid-morning is correct. Oh, and they had tables with T-shirts and other goodies for sale, in case you like to purchase them.

zStratMom....thanks.  We are staying at the Ward Lodge on base.  I am one of those people who gets places at least an hour early! To say I am excited would be a MASSIVE UNDERSTATEMENT!!! Regarding the boot...how sandy is it where we will be?  Is there a dress code (I know that sounds silly).  With his two other graduations (PIR and A school) I dressed nicely because he was in his dress uniform.  Judging by the picks I've seen (thanks KathyProudCorpsman), it looks like they are wearing their marpats.  Not as dressy I am guessing.

Gosh - I've been there with the boot. Fortunately, you can park reasonably close. It seems to me the time was 9:30 or 10?? And I'm certain we planned for at least 30 minutes advance time to arrive, park and be seated. Let me go back and look at some posts. I just looked up the program for you and, while it has all the agenda items and bios, etc., there's no TIME!! (go figure)

aStratMom...HE FINALLY GOT THE SOCKS on Monday.  The post office PO kept telling him they weren't there.  I re-texted the tracking number to him and, of course, the socks were there.  He was kinda pissed at the post office PO because he could have been using them since AUGUST 3rd!!!  Also in the package were several packages of moleskin I had gotten him.  At least he has them now.  Good idea about the flowers.  I will see what I can do.  I am hobbled by having to wear a walking boot so I am still trying to figure out what to wear.  I grew up in Santa Monica so I know a little about that beach weather in September.  What time does the ceremony begin?

Comment by zStratMom on September 12, 2012 at 8:33pm

DramaSoul - don't forget to go get those socks at the post office! The graduation @ CP is not far from the main gate (CP is huge!); you'll be outside, on bleachers. The end of Sept FMTB graduation last year was warm but overcast. Here's a fun idea - pick up flowers at the grocery store and hand out to moms, wives, grandmothers . . . No one expects the acknowledgement, so they're really surprised.

I have a question on FMTB graduation. Is there a list or can we invite more family who actually live in the area?

Comment by DramaSoul on September 5, 2012 at 8:13pm

txbaby...my son LOVES FMTB.  He would deny that but I hear it in his voice.  He hasn't scored less than a 94% on any of his tests and he is doing the PT.  That's one thing I would tell your son....definitely show up IN SHAPE.  The little 'shake-out' run was 8 miles up a mountain. That was BEFORE they moved into Devil Doc Hall an officially began training.
