Welcome Sunshine Sandy. Which base is your son at? Congrats to him and good luck.

Sorry about being MIA lately. My son has been home on post-deployment leave.  It's been wonderful having him home. Just been enjoying time with him. Hope all your corpsman are doing good.

Have a great day.

Fair Winds and Following Seas to the Sailors and Marines of the USS Boxer Amphibious Strike Group. A special shout out to the Marines aboard the USS Harpers Ferry and their Corpsman HM3 (FMF) Hofstein!
SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The amphibious ready group led by the USS Boxer will deploy from San Diego to the Western Pacific and Middle East on Friday, the Navy announced Wednesday.
The group includes the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer, amphibious transport dock USS New Orleans and amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry....
"We've had a very rigorous training cycle to prepare us to execute any mission when called upon," said Capt. Malcolm Potts, the commander of Amphibious Squadron 1 and the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group. "I am awed and impressed by the ingenuity, creativity, and industriousness of the 4,200 dedicated sailors and Marines that serve on our ships."
The ships will embark with about 2,400 Marines from the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, based at Camp Pendleton.
According to the Navy, the group will focus on maritime and theater security. The sailors and Marines will be available for any amphibious assault and Special Forces operations, humanitarian missions and non-combatant operations that become necessary, the Navy said.

Hi mamawalrus, our Sailors usually do a land rotation and a sea rotation (in whatever order the Navy decides).  My son volunteered for a deployment while on land rotation and was given an IA assignment with a Marine unit that deployed to the sandbox.  Then, his next duty assignment was with a Marine unit for a sea rotation and now he's back in the sandbox on his 2nd deployment...So, when your son gets to his next duty station he can always try to volunteer for another deployment...

Hello everyone.. been so long since I have been on here.. will take me awhile to catch up.

Hope all is well..

My son will be leaving CL in November to head West, closer to home, being stationed in San Diego at a Clinic across from Coronado Island.  He is so excited.  He was hoping to get another deployment but I guess he has to do a certain amount of time stateside?  Does anyone know how this works exactly?

Good morning gals! Well I can finally say that my son's feet are back on US soil. He is back at CP right now. Just waiting for him to get back here now for some hugs. He will be back in my arms in about 9 days now. Hope all your corpsman are doing good. Have a wonderful day.

Hello all! Just checking in to see how everyone's corpsman are doing. I get mine back in my arms in about 3 weeks. Feels like this deployment was forever but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Just happy to say it is almost done. I can honestly say that it will be great to see him. I think he's just as anxious to be back also. Have a wonderful week.

Once they finish FMTB and are in garrison, the mail delivery gets much much better.

You can send packages but like DramaSoul said it does take time to get to them. I do remember when my son first got to CP he told me not to send stuff to him. It takes 3 weeks to get to them no matter where they are. Congrats on the FMTB. It is a rough time for them since they are doing a little boot camp again. LOL I didn't hear much from my son when he was going through it. Took almost 2 months for regular communication to start back up again since they are kept very very busy.
