Hi Danielle -  It was weird but I think what happened was that just before his PIR like about a week or two..  on our PIR site I was asking about some direction on going here or there and this and that...  well, sudddenly I got friended by someone who said they knew all the best places etc..  they were nice..  and at first i suspected it might be someone there but I accepted it anyway...  now normally you would tell someone THAT WAS SOOOOOO  STUPID what were you thinking....  ugggg... -------  it actually worked out (thank goodness)  Cause when Bs 818s won Captains Cup they painted the mural on the wall and the RDCs wanted motorcycles incorporated into the mural..  anyway.. too funny well, sort of.   yea B is almost 21 - got tons up ahead of him.  Yes you are right the Mercy (isnt it?) has tons of publicity all over the Web...  kinda scares me but I think even enemy countries respect her as she helps so many countries... so many people all over the world.  Otherwise yes...  Lose Lips!  How old did you tell me your brother is???  Must be around my Bs age..  21...    Well, B is finished with ALL the training now  so just a matter of getting the Squads together to get wings ..  he SEEMS to think his long deploy wont be until next year just short ones for now...  BUT who knows.  If world events change he could go anytime.  Sooo  mamma is just laying low and waiting.  My husband is a Nam Veteran PTSD..  so Im use to the system of waiting!   Well, hugs sista friends!!!!!

Hi Carole... yes I understand the security and caution... I never use my sons name you just never know who is watching. In Boot Camp back 2010 my son's RDC really like him and he they... well, one day he was walking past their office and they called him in... two of the three of them ride motorcycles (so do I) and they holler.... hey "last name"!!!!!!... I really like your moms bike! B was stunned.. well, long story short somehow they had accessed my MY PAGE and were looking at my pictures.. they razzed him a little .. too funny but also at the same time.. to weird!!!! I think B is worried about being spec Ops and having a gf. He knows that it is going to be a lot of time apart and I dont think he wants to focus on that for a few years. he is working with his aunt (my sis in law) Capt. mary Neill...... on getting in to the academy for Spec Forces.. so he is just staying focused I think.. and Im happy about that. But one of these days I want a DIL and grand babies! hehehe... That is very sweet about the doggie and all. B's old cat that his daddy gave him (hubby passed from cancer when B was only 11) when he was three is now 18 years old and still living... poor skinny and blind baby.. but she is spoiled and well cared for and B said.. ahhh mom shes gonna live forever.. Im thinking... this is gonna break his heart when she dies.

Danielle - gosh it wont be long and your huggy hubby will be home.. I can not believe that it is already heading into mid August.

Well girls, I dont know when I will make it there but i will...right now B wants me to wait cause he wants to fly to FL (that is where we are originally from) after he gets his wings (soon) and before he deploys.. but just dont know.. Yall know - It is always a hurry up and wait game with the military!!!!! B said that he will always live in SD if possible. he just loves it there. loves his church and loves surfing and snowboarding.. GREAT place! I went to college in Santa Cruz a million years ago when dinasauers roamed the earth =P and I loved going down to SD.. I will let yall know and yall can hook me up with good place to stay near the base prefer.. but he has a truck and can pick me up etc... Im looking forward to it one day in the nearish future !!! You two sound like lots of fun!

Okay - yalls turn hehehe - happy Sunday sistas!!    *****footnote..   I just had to delete this post twice cause I used my sons name  hahaha   ugggg  need more coffee.....

Hi Lydia, my name is Carole, 0309 is the date my son graduated from boot and when I joined Navy for Moms I did not know what name I could use without compromising my sons security clearance.

So what do we need to do to get you out here.  Did you read my message that I will help find places to stay within your budget if I can?

My son should be here is the next week, I am really excited to see him.  He has been gone for 8 months.  I keep telling my dog that he is coming home and she now goes into his room and sleeps.  She has not done that until now.  Unfortunaltely, we had to put his dog down in April so he will not be able to see her.  We did not tell him for a month because he was so busy with his studies.  We did not want anything to disturb his focus.  A friend of mine made him a picture of her with a poem next to the picture and I framed it the other day and put it in his room for him.

Aaron had a girlfriend in high school that we really liked, but he said she was too high maintance.  She wants to get a hold of him now that he is in the Navy and I told him to stay away.  She is devorced and has three kids now, not something he needs to get involved with at the start of his life.  I guess us two moms will have to get together and see what we can do about a daughter in-law in our future.  Not too soon though, they need to live some of the single life.

Oh, hey my skype is going, I will finish later.  Keep in touch and don't wait so long.

Yes, I know he will meet a girl some day.  He is still young and I want him to enjoy life for a while so I am not in any big hurry yet.  He is not much of a party person nor does he really drink so when his friends go out, he may go for a little while but then calls it good, so he is not really any where to meet people.  During A school I guess he went out with some of the guys on base and after some of the sailors had a few drinks they started arguing with each other.  My son said he and one of his friends called it good and took a taxi back to base.

We need to get Lydia out here for all us to get together.  Maybe we can work on that with her.  Good to know you are always up for adoption, I will probably take you up on that.  With Aaron being my one and only and the fact that for many years it was me and him against the world (I almost lost him a few times when he was little, but that is a story for another time), not having him with me has been hard.  You and Lydia are going to have to help teach me how to do this.  I love Skype because seeing his face lets me know how he is really doing.  Voices can say anything, seeing the eyes tells the whole story.

You let me know when is good for you to meet.  I am busy for the next couple of weeks with Aaron's kinda Grandfather coming home this weekend to see him and my mother (another story for another time).  My mother is 86 and the dementia is setting in very fast.  I am glad Aaron will be able to spend some time with her before she does not know who anyone is.  She will probably always know Aaron though, he is her pride and joy.  He was worried that if he got stationed too far that this visit would be the last visit with her.  He was happy he will be able to go see her.  Aaron will be here sometime after that.  Unfortunately we will only have a couple of days with him before he has to report.

Are they allowed to leave base on weekends right away or do they have to go through phases like they did in A school?

Keep in touch and let me know how you are and when we can meet up.

Danielle, thank you for responding to me.  Aaron is single and does even have a girl firend.  Maybe you can help me in that area at some point, it would like to have a daughter in-law and grandchildren at some point of me life.  As for now maybe I can adopt you.  My son is one that loves his mom and family dearly but at the same time wants to be independent.  I am one of those moms that his friends love to visit and while he has been gone they check on me and give a son hug just to keep me going.  I am getting my teaching credential to teach elementary school, I just finished all my credential courses and Master courses.  I hace to take two tests and do my student teaching still.  My p;an is to go to work with the Department of Defense and teach on military bases for a couple of years at a time around the world. I went back to school at the age of 45 with nothing but a GED from 30 years earlier.  Aaron was my inspiration and when we meet I will tell you that story.  I would love to meet you when ever you are ready.

Aaron is not home yet, he just graduated Friday and has to go through processing so I am just waiting for the call.  That would be pretty cool if the two of you could also meet so you can fill him in on what to expect.  He is a newby fresh out of boot and A school.

So lets see, you live in La Mesa, not too far if I remember right.  I am here in Temecula.  Would you like to arrange something.  We can meet half way in Escondido, you can come here, or I can drive there.  Have done any exploration in your area?  The Saw dust Festival is going on right now if you like Art.  Del Mar is also coming.  have you gone to Pacific Beach.  We have Sea doos and Aaron wants to go out on them if he has leave time by the time he gets home.  We go out in Mission Bay.  We also go to the river but my husband and I are leaving for Hawaii on the 8th of September so that is out of the question this year unless we win the lotto.  when you husband gets back. Laughlin is a nice place and very inexpensive.  It is right on the River, is a little Vegas if you do not know and rooms start at $15 a night.  We go every year an I play penny slots and get free rooms just from that.  They just called me and said i have 14 nights free, $40 dining credit, and $120 is slot play.  All I do is play pennies and I alwayss get these kind of comps.  i can give you lots of ideas for you and your hubby when he gets home.

I am a substitute teacher but on summer break so I am basically free right now.  If you would like to meet for lunch just let me know.  My hobby is cooking and i love to entertain.  We have a pool also which is great for the summer entertaining.  I don't mean to push, I just saw that you are alone and being a mom I would ike to help.  i am learning about Navy life and I am sure that between and Lydia you will soon have to speed.  Also please give the  ombudsman contact info.  Please keep in touch, I will try to help time fly to when your husband gets home and you can help me try to adjust this Navy life stuff.  My son is my one and only and we have never been seperated until now.  I am having a hard time and my son keeps telling me I need get use to it because if he goes out on a ship there will long periods between contact.

Hi Lydia, I am so happy I am already connected with a mom and wife where my son will be working.  I do have some questions, but first let me comment on your wanting to come see your son.  Yes, San Diego is very expensive, but there are ways around it.  You have more choices of airports to fly into than San Diego, I have found that flights are much more expensive flying in and out of there.  You can rent a car for a very responible rate at other airports, and when you are ready I can help you find that info.  I see rates starting at about $20 to $25 a day and they give great rates for weekend and week long rentals.  You can fly into LAX and the drive is about an hour and half, You have John Wayne Airport in Orange County and the drive would be about an hour, and then you can also choose Ontario which the drive is about an hour and half also.  There are hotels in the outer areas that are pretty resonable, we recently stayed down by Sea World to see Aaron off at MEPS and the rates can run starting at about $60 a night on up.  I know some people do not like Motel 6, but there are some decent ones in that area.  Sea World is about a 45 minute drive.  We stayed down in Gas Lamp not too long ago also and there are some hotels off that strip for a good price also.  Gas Lamp is right there by the Convenvtion Center and the stadium where the Padres play.  Depending on how close you want to be to the base, I can help you find something.  We have many friends who are Navy and they live here by us and make the drive everyday.  It may seem like a long drive, but it is no big deal as far as I feel.  I went to school in San Diego and made the drive all the time.  When are ready let me know and I will help you work with your budget.

Now for some questions.  My son is on hold for processing as I mentioned and he said it could be up to 10 days to get him processed out.  Have you found that to be true?  I also read on a site for this squadron on the newcomer link that as soon as you get your orders you should get a welcome pak and if you did not get one you should contact the number they gave to get one.  It also said to contact your sponsor as soon as you can.  Should my son be in contact with this sponsor?  How does he know who his sponsor is?  Should he wait until his report date to check in so he can get his room where he will be living?  He has a car, should he also wait until his report date to get his car checked in or registered (what ever they do about that)?  He may know all this info, but it may help if I have info to share with him.  Being his first assignment, he may not know all the ins and outs of things.

I do not know if I can give his name to you on this site, you had said you would let your son know he is coming.  I do not want to be one of those moms either, he would be embarrassed I am sure if his mommy set up a welcome comittee for him.  I tease him all the time when he is having a bad day or something like this being on hold happens, and I am always asking him "do I need to come down there".  I told him the other day that being in Florida he has been pretty safe about me coming down there, but now that he is only an hour away, I could do it.  They took forever getting his class their orders, so I told him I was going to organize all the moms and wives to do an "Occupy Corry Station" until they got their orders.  Anyways, I know he can take care of himself, I just like knowing the info for myself.

Hi Lydia, Thank you for responding.  This is the correct site for me.  I called me son and asked him and being the newby he is, he replied that I am not suppose to know any of this and cannot discuss it with anyone.  I told him it was on my Navy for moms site and he relaxed and said he couldn't argue with it being posted then.  He must have thought I am sort of computer wiz.

So let's see.  He is my only child, his name is Aaron and he is 22 will be 23 on the 30th of this month.  He graduated from bootcamp in March and went to Pensacola for A school.  He graduated today.  He was hoping to be able to come right home so he could have some leave (he has to report in a couple of weeks) but he is on hold.  He had to get a flu shot and something else today after he graduated and they told him he will be on hold for about 10 days.  That will only give him basically the weekend for leave.  I was hoping to spend some time with him, this is his first time away from home and while he is doing great, it is hard on me.  All is fine though, we only live about an hour away from Coronado.  He is an IT sailor.  I am not sure what he will be doing with this squadron, maybe you can fill me in.  I don't know what a rate is, so all I can tell you is IT.  I saw that this is some sort of rescue squadron if I read it right.  My son does not have any training in that area.  This is my sons first assignment so I am hoping the squad will help him adjust.  He is an E3 because he completed 4 years of Naval ROTC in high school.  Are these assignments this squad has very dangerous?  Sorry, I am a mom, my son would hate to know I asked that question.  Do you live in the area?  Does Danielle live in the area?  If so maybe we could arrange a meet up.  I have lived here for 52 years so I can help with excurrsions if you ever want to go see anything around here with your family and firends.  I will be asking a lot of questions I am sure so be prepared.  I have two sources for info, but I do not ask them a whole lot because I don't want to come across as that kind of mother.  My husbands best friend is Retired CMC Morey,  he had a big hand in the arrive alive program, and then another friend is CMC Braumstedt who is currently in Japan.  We are a close family, but don't get me wrong, my son is very independent.  I just like to stay involved in his life and let him know I support him 500%.  I told him that because he is close to home if he has any friendsduring the holidays that are unable to go home, they are welcome to join us.  I love to entertain, and take any excuse for a party.  I am so happy I found you girls.  Keep the messages coming.

I saw Danielle is considering going to school.  I am just finishing up my schooling.  I went back to school at the age of 45.  I started with just a GED and now have my BA, and just completed my teaching credential program, and my Masters program so I can start teaching.  I have to do my student teaching and then I will be completely finished.  If she needs encouragement for school, I can help her in that area.  Looking forward to meeting her on here.

I will watch for my messages and reply ASAP.  Looking forward to our contact.

Carole
