Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

hi Becky and welcome! yup you can send pictures and cartoons and word puzzles...best way is to print onto regular paper that way you can write on it too...and you can start writing letters now so they are ready to go when you get your form letter!!

Made sure my sailor rec'd at least one letter a week from me. I got one more off this past Tuesday. Wanted to make sure he had more recent pictures his nephew before we arrive for PIR. We are leaving on the 4th.

RachelL, mail received after the Sailor leaves the RTC is usually returned to the sender. Some mail has been forwarded in the past, which could take several weeks to reach the Sailor, but that does not happen often now. See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit for more info on letter writing.

hi Rachel-it is recommended to have the last letter out the Saturday prior to PIR so for you it would be 5/31...you want to make sure that your SR will receive it...and make sure that you put in that last letter that this is the last letter and you will see them soon and all that good stuff....

wowswers!! that is so great-so if you figure you need 95 for a division you have enough for 4 mailings!!!
also you can save some to send in care packages-packing parties and Mollys adopt a Sailor take letters to add...http://navyformoms.com/group/mollysadoptasailorproject and depending on where you are is there a Senior home or Nursing home that may have Veterans living there?? or maybe the Elks or VFW in your area??
