Mineman Moms

My son arrived at RTC on 11/15/11.  His current contract has him as a Mineman and I am looking to see if there are any other Mineman Moms out there that have sons/daughters who are going in or have just arrived!  Mineman is such a small community that it is hard to gather information about the rate, and would like to hear stories or talk about what our children are doing!

Oh wow, I just spoke with his recruiter last week about booking a flight home from CA for A school, which i did. Wondering why 2 Navy recruiters would not know this about the ATT school?  Fortunately, i booked the flight with South West and the tickets can be changed or used later up to a year.

To Ryan's mom, my son did stay in GL after PIR for 8 weeks of ATT school before A school. His PIR was 9/13 and he is still there.

Do they still stay in GL after PIR for more schooling before going onto CA for A school? we were under the impression that he will go straight to CA after PIR.

My sons PIR is 10-4.. Can't wait for San Diego, he will only be less than 2hr drive from hoqme. He's very excited about his rate and so am I.

My son is also a MN rate. His PIR is 10/4.....he may be to far from your dates. Maybe they will know each other sometime in the future. The MN community seems so small and I don't hear much information.

LeeAnn,
My son is doing MN, also. His PIR is 9-13, so maybe they'll be together.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here.  My son just arrived at Great Lakes after his PIR date of 8/30.  I think some of your children are about to graduate from Great Lakes MN school.  Any advise for me?  My son will start his A school sometime in the future because of the current class that is graduating.  Are there any of you who's children might be starting with my son?

Morning Susan...they may even meet each other while still in GL for ATT...

Comment by Susan on August 14, 2013 at 7:06pm

My SR has a PIR date of 10/4 and going to A school for a MN. I think this is a small community and our boys will eventually meet each other....possibly in SanDiego.

SailorRp01 ~ My boy is in Ship 9 Div 341...if they don't know each other now they sure will after PIR :)
