eb, WOW, what a trip! So glad that you had a wonderful time. Congrats to you and your son!

Comps are the "final" test before graduation. It is a big one and tough too. It covers all that they have learned throughout "A" school. Wishing your son the best!

Hi Beverly!! How are you doing? Check in when you can!

Hi Sharon, I'm sorry to hear that your hurting. My hands and fingers hurt also. I thought it could be from the crummy weather we've had this spring in Washington, but I also think it might be a progression of my arthritis. I see my Rheumotoligist tomorrow and am going to ask about changing medications. I've been self injecting Enbrel for a long time now and am starting to think it isn't helping me as it once did.

I worked out in the yard yesterday and am stiff today...nothing unusual. I'm just like you...have to many things to do to just sit and do nothing.

We arrived home from our very long trip (including PIR on May 6th) on May 21st at 2AM. Had a wonderful time with my mother-in-law, and stayed with her for  over a week after the drive to and from Chicago. We drove over 5,000 miles...that's a heck of a long time in the car! Hubby did most of the driving...but I did help. We are so proud of our son and his accomplishments so far.

Dumb question...what are "comps"? Are they like finals? Is your son almost done with A school? Mine has11 weeks to go in A school.

Hope your feeling better soon. If my Doctor has any good tips I will pass them along to you. One Rx that he gave me has really helped. It's actually a patch called Flexor that has medication on it that absorbs into your skin. I use thm on my back and siatic nerve. They can be cut to the size that you need them and last 12 hours. They are cold when you put them on, but then stay at body temp. You hardly know you even have them on!

Bye for now....

How is everyone doing???

I am doing pretty good, though having some real issues with my hands and fingers hurting. They hurt all the time as I am typing this too. I have too many things to do and to get done to sit and hold my hands, though at times I have done this.

Looking forward to hearing from our son today, he and his fellow classmates took Comps today for "A" school for Nuke today. Will know more later this evening!

Hope all is well with you, check in when you can!!

eb, so glad you made it through PIR! It is quite a day! Hope your visit is going well with the MIL. I am glad you were able to see your Sailor for a bit before he had to leave for "A" school. We got the whole weekend, Diego didn't leave until Wednesday after his PIR. It was so nice to be with him, we didn't do much. He wanted to just chill out and that is what we did most of the time.

I am doing fine, though not totally pain free with the back issue. The weather changes here in MI. changes things for me daily. I feel different each day, I do what I can on any given day. As I say, "It is what it is."

Hi Sharon,

I made it through PIR (May 6) and all of the travel so far, but found I am extremely tired. Hubby and I are currently in Nebraska staying with his mom through this coming weekend and then taking our time to drive home.

Just seeing my son and being able to talk to him was the best Mothers Day gift I could have asked for. He left for A school the day after PIR, so we had very little time with him, but I treasured every moment.

Boy, being out of my normal routine and driving such distances really took it out of me. I will recover, and would not have missed his PIR for anything.

I hope your feeling better and that your back stops giving you so much trouble. I have that same issue, and it's the pits.

Take care!

Hi Rhonda, sorry you are going through a *flare* and we all know that is not fun!

Take care of yourself, be easy on yourself as well. We can only do what our bodies allow us to do.

I am having a tough time lately due to my back hurting again. I am so tired of not being able to do things due to back issues. I was doing better until yesterday, I stood for hours doing concessions at our son's baseball games. So, with a bit of rest it will feel better again.

Happy Mother's Day to all! Gentle (((((Hugs))))))))))))))))

I have been fighting a flare up for the last week and a half.  Don't know what brought it on, as I haven't had one like this in years. Everything was hurting last week; could not even wear my wedding rings. This week it is more just knees and feet (bottom and top).  Even wearing my favorite Sketcher's Tone Up sandals don't keep my feet from hurting.  Can't wear my tennis shoes because the laces hurt the top of my feet too bad; no matter how loose I have them!

Hopefully next week will be better.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you and I also hope you are pain free for many days in a row!

Sharon,

We could be sisters. I also worked in the medical for about 10 years. I was an MA for Orthopedic Surgeons. I had NO idea what Fibro. was and was told by many Dr's it was "all in my head". I finally found the "right" Dr. who knew right away what was wrong with me and told me I was very sick. That was in Dec. of 1993, and I haven't worked outside our home since then. My son was 2, and we still had to take him to daycare in the very beginning because I was to weak physically and so tired it wasn't safe for me to be home alone with him. I believe that my very long and tramatic labor and delivery (10 days of labor) are what brought the fibro. on. He also weighed 10lb. 4oz. and was 22 inches long...no, I didn't have a C-section. :(  I love him so much, and he's a great kid.

Man, families. We need to put the "fun" back into "dysfunctional"!! My siblings have never really cared for me (except my youngest brother who was killed) due to the fact that I became the parent because of our parent's drinking. It all really hit the fan about 6 months after my brother was killed. Then my Dad was very sick due to his drinking and died 4 years ago. THAT was the loooongest month of my life. Having to be "cordial" to the other three, their spouses and kids, and my dad's 2nd wife. My sister directly below me is just so much better than every one else in her mind. Her kids are in private schools...yuck...can't stand her.

Anyway, thanks for responding once again. Talk to you soon.

Ebigirl
