PACT Moms

Let's chat about our wonderful sons and daughters who have chosen the PACT program.

Hello

It has been a long time since I have posted and I am sorry. I hope everyone has been able to connect with others in the PACT program. My son is now 3 and a half years in and it has been a great experience. He thought he wanted to be an AM. When he got on the ship, he was put with the AO’s. Now he is an AD3. It was best for him to start PACT because we didn’t know much about the Navy and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. This has been a good route for him.

Ladies! I have a PACT sailor! Headed to A school at Great Lakes, home for leave, then on to the Seabees at Coronado!

The mother that let me send my sons "GoPro" to her house said she was PACT and it helped her become an E6 quickly. (Not sure what quickly is to her)

Happy Mother's Day to all of you!
Jessie- if he doesn't want Boatswain Mate then this should be a good way for him to get the job he wants. My son is APACT and looking into AM on his ship.
Kim - I was able to talk to him for an hour tonight and asked him about the Northstar stuff. He tried to explain it to me but- to make a long story short- even though he isn't an E4, he can use it to study for the test for his rate. I'm not sure I understand it all. He asked a chief about it and he said "yes" it is a good idea. You might have yours ask a chief for clarification.

Thanks Michael's mom, I'm not familiar with that story but Wow!! After reading a bit about the ship and what it does I am convinced this would be great for him, and from reading the information lemonelephant sent me it looks like two years of service and then almost a guaranteed job in the rating of his choice assuming he's qualified and it's available. Can't get any better than that! Fingers and toes crossed for him:-)

Thanks splash! It's not in my hands but I think this would be an honor and a wonderful opportunity, now the waiting comes! It's so hard not being able to just call or text and ask how it went today!!

Happy Mother's day to everyone! it is hard to be without our Sailor's. And at the same time we are all so proud of them!

The post my daughter put on FB for me today made my cry so hard. Man I love that girl and miss her so much! Now I have to try and stop the tear so I can go to church.

Have a great day Mommas!

Jessie...I do not know anything about contracts and guarantees. But I can say that so far the PACT program has been good for my daughter. I like that they are not locked into a rate and can research their options.

Happy Mother's Day all!!

My son graduates BC on June 5 with a contract as Boatswain Mate but he is a final candidate (final screening today I believe) to serve  Undesignated for one year on the USS Constitution in Boston. If selected he wants to go A-PACT. He doesn't want to be locked into BM rating...sounds like a good opportunity, does anybody have experience with that option? RDC says he will be guaranteed a rating after serving his year on the Constitution. It sounds like an honor but I'm afraid of him giving up his contract. I would appreciate any opinions...next time I hear from him he will know if he was selected and if he was, he will have accepted if so, as he was super-excited about the possibility when he called yesterday:-)
