Let's chat about our wonderful sons and daughters who have chosen the PACT program.

Hello

It has been a long time since I have posted and I am sorry. I hope everyone has been able to connect with others in the PACT program. My son is now 3 and a half years in and it has been a great experience. He thought he wanted to be an AM. When he got on the ship, he was put with the AO’s. Now he is an AD3. It was best for him to start PACT because we didn’t know much about the Navy and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. This has been a good route for him.

Wow!! Where have I been today??? I missed out on the entire conversation. LOL!! Jeannie- so excited your daughter will have a connection when she gets there!!! Yep- one day we need to all meet up in CA!! My son will deploy soon. He is excited! It is maxing how you can make connections with people. I posted on his ship Facebook page that I needed to send a package quickly and a wife offered for me to send it to her house. We messaged back and forth to make arrangements for her husband to deliver the package. During the conversation she said she used to be in the navy and she was APACT. She said if my son had any questions she could help him. She said for him to order NorthStar study info to help advance.

splash, at first when you said your daughter got excited to see a seal in the water, I thought you meant a SEAL! HaHa! Daughter reports July 1, but A school at TSC is only 10 days long, so Jeannie1 you can expect to spend the weekend of PIR with him in Great Lakes, then depending on if he has to wait to "class up" or wait till a class is full to start, he only stays there 10 business days. Daughter gets 5 days for RAP (?)duty and 5 days for being in boot camp, and the other 20 days would count against her for future leave. In other words, she would have a deficit of leave time that would take her 8 months of working to just get even again for time off. The recruiter will have her schedule time to work here and that won't count against her leave time.

Michael's mom. When Michael is out to sea do you get to talk to him much?

Comment by splash on May 7, 2015 at 5:45pm

DepthCharge4...My daughter loved BS21. She said it was really fun. They can't really talk about it but she liked it. When you said Seado...did you mean Sea Bee?  When people find out she is from Minnesota most of the time they say...oh so you are from Canada...LOL!  And they think all of MN is farms. And the first time she saw a seal swimming in the Ocean she got really excited and the kids still tease her about it.

Michael's Mom, yes, greatly relieved! Not attached to a ship, but they CAN attach to ships. They didn't get to pick a ship, otherwise she would've picked an underway ship. In any case, I wrote her a letter last night and sent it today telling her about Splash's daughter and how much fun she is having, so it will arrive just after BS21 for her!! Vickie and Michael's Mom, another young man from her division is also going to the same command, but I need to keep that quiet until he informs parents!

Michael's mom. My daughter is not assigned to a ship. I don't think anyone in this batallion is.
