Hello

It has been a long time since I have posted and I am sorry. I hope everyone has been able to connect with others in the PACT program. My son is now 3 and a half years in and it has been a great experience. He thought he wanted to be an AM. When he got on the ship, he was put with the AO’s. Now he is an AD3. It was best for him to start PACT because we didn’t know much about the Navy and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. This has been a good route for him.

Path- Our sons are on the same ship/div. I have only received one letter last week and it was old when I got it. I haven't gotten a phone call yet but I am still hopeful. I know that no news is good news but I would still love to hear his voice.

Our son had his PIR on 5-5-17.  He is also S-PACT.   He had to register with school immediately after graduation, then about 4 hours later we were able to pick him up and take him to dinner that night.  They have a curfew.  Your SR will know.  Then...we had all day Saturday and Sunday with him.   He did receive his orders before his PIR and got everything on his wish list.  After A school he was home for 10 days then reported to his ship in Spain.  Hard work, but he is loving it!

Melissagonavy - My son grads on 8/18 also and is PACT too. What division is your son in?

My son is currently in boot camp with a PIR date of Aug 18th.  He is going into the PACT program.  When he signed his contract last summer there weren't any jobs available.  Does anyone know do they leave for Seaman school right after graduation just like "A"school?

Comment by misisu on July 7, 2017 at 10:13am

Melissagonavy - my son (S-PACT) on THU (Temporary hold) has told me that they are allowed leave after the training (up to 10 days) and before they go to their duty station. That being said, the Navy does not always work that way. Sometimes it depends on the orders. They may be expected to get to their next duty station ASAP. Others I have heard have been placed in a hold waiting for orders - they may not get leave in this situation.

Congratulations on your soon to be sailor! I hope he gets everything he wants!
