Let's chat about our wonderful sons and daughters who have chosen the PACT program.

Hello

It has been a long time since I have posted and I am sorry. I hope everyone has been able to connect with others in the PACT program. My son is now 3 and a half years in and it has been a great experience. He thought he wanted to be an AM. When he got on the ship, he was put with the AO’s. Now he is an AD3. It was best for him to start PACT because we didn’t know much about the Navy and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. This has been a good route for him.

BeachBunny...my daughter does not like the Navy sheets either.  She said they are itchy.

Michael's Mom...think it depends on where their berthing room is on the carrier...mine had one bunk that was super hot bc it was closer to the top and the stream from the catapult heated up the room (on the RR)...hasn't said that he has been cold infact usually warm....on his 3 deployment now and only brought a sheets set bc he doesn't like the navy one...but they have bedding on the carrier from them...I did send him a memory foam pillow for Christmas since he will be gone on the CV for 6 more months...told him to just throw the sheets and pillow away after deployment is over.....they only have a small area under their bed and 1 narrow locker for uniforms...I believe I have a picture of a bunk on my page from the RR....

Michael's mom. She told me she was dropped off at the gate. She had a lot of luggage but she had several girls to help.

When is Michael arriving at the base? Maybe she can help. She will have a car as of tomorrow night. I Know she will help if she can.

Michael's mom. I will ask my daugher today. I think her sponsor either picked her up or sent somone to get her. There were 12 sailors that came from GL together.  I will let you know. I did text her about the ship and yes it is on Coronado. The North Island base. Only a few miles apart.

Michael's mom. She is in San Diego on Coronado island on the Amphibious Base. She loves Coronado and the weather. She stayed in GL until mid January.  Where did Michael go after PIR?

Leach73,

Your message is exactly what is needed. Keep reminding them that it's do-able.

Michaels mom...I am so glad your son was able to come home for leave. If I remember correctly he left right after PIR. I was going to try to meet you in person and missed you.

How exciting for him to be on an aircraft carrier! Is he excited about it? How long will he be gone? How are you doing?

My girl is doing well. When she moved to CA and found out what she was going to be doing she was not happy.. She is very much a girly girl. She is working through everything and growing up fast.  It is unnerving to see your child with a bullet proof vest. lol.

My oldest daughter is meeting me in CA in March and we are spending a week with her. This weekend her twin brother is flying to AZ (where my oldest lives) and they are driving to CA to spend the weekend with her.

She is happy she went PACT because she does not want the job she initially thought she wanted. So it can be a good thing!
