Hi Ladies! It has been ages since I checked in and wanted to say I am so glad to know I am not the only mom a little blue about the holidays.God Bless all of our sailors! I love my son so very much, and am proud of them al!
yes, Corina, the modern technology is really nice and I'm thankful for it. The 15 hr. time difference is really a challenge, though. My son got an ipod touch, so we can text when he can find wifi, and of course, there's facebook if I can catch him online. We've skyped a couple of times, but he doesn't have any privacy on the ship, so isn't real comfortable doing that. I guess they are where they're supposed to be, but it's really tough. This will be quite an adventure for him, and I'm thankful that he will be able to see so much of the world at such a young age.
Dave's mom and Kathy- yes I know what you both are going through. I don't even want to go into her room unless I absolutely have to but one good thing is we have modern technology to keep her close. It's not like bootcamp where you don't know anything. We know a little bit more except when they are out at sea. She has lots of pics too and it's beautiful there. Makes you appreciate where she is.
mine's still in GL finished ATT now she's in A school. she'll be home a week before christmas but we already talked about it and she's spending christmas with her inlaws. in 7 years they've only spent 1 christmas with them. being in GL they're only 5 hours from them. i'll miss her but, hey, it's only fair. my other daughter just got back from a 7 month deployment
Corina, mine is in Japan, too. Don't known when we will see him next...at least a year. He went on a field trip yesterday as part of base indoc and posted some neat pics of Japan. He seems to be liking it, but it's hard not having him home, esp. at Christmas.
My daughter is in Japan and I know we won't be seeing her for at least a year so she will not be home for Christmas. She loves it there but she is still missing home. I hope everyone else is doing fine.
Hi Ladies, It's been awhile so I thought I'd check in. I hope you are all doing well. I don't get to see my son for the holidays. He's still in A school so I'm looking forward to Feb. sometime when he'll get leave before his first duty. I am lucky enough to keep in contact with some of you on facebook so I know how some of your sailors are doing. I hope you all have a blessed holiday season!
