Welcome to all Anticipating PIR 10/7/2011!!

This group is for those with loved ones who had PIR on 10/07/2011. (PIR is short for Pass-in-Review and just means graduate from Boot Camp.)

It was an amazing ceremony, an amazing opportunity to see our Sailors perform and participate as an entire group, amazing to hear that wonderful Liberty call and completely overwhelming to get those long awaited hugs.

It is our desire that this Group will provide the information, encouragement, and support you need while your loved one continues their Navy Journey. We are hoping you will continue to come back and update everyone on that journey and continue to seek support and encouragement from friends you have already made here.

Enjoy your time here and feel free to Comment and join in the Discussions. Be sure to check out the information in the "Pages" section to the right. This is information that will be of interest to all Members.  (You will need to click on "View All" to see all of them.)

Please review the Community Guidelines and keep OPSEC in mind when you post. If you would not want an enemy to know something, then do not post it here because this is NOT a secure site and the enemy lurks. Please do not post your Sailor's last name and NEVER his/her full name. Also do not use your full name, especially if your last name is the same as your Sailor's. If your Sailor provides specific information about events that will occur, please keep that to yourself and do not post the day/time on here since this information may be sensitive and is not to be shared.

Sheilamf, I know lots of people who live there.  :)

diannep, yes, that is right.  I didn't mean to imply never to have your Sailor's picture up.  Some ratings would require keeping a lower profile than others and then others of us just keep those pics for other sites.

lemonelephant:  By anonymous, I meant as far as RDCs knowing which N4M belongs to which SR.  After bc, pictures of sailors being posted as the icon, as mine is, is not so bad for those who do not have high-security positions.

Betsy, I live in Harford Co/PA line.  I work in Owings Mills.

Dianne, I'm so glad he is ok.  I was shaking for quite awhile too.

Sheilamf, no I am in Columbia, MD, but just moved back to MD after being in NM for 6 years.  Where are you?  It was pretty intense in Columbia.

Comment by Sheilamf #2 PIR10/10/14 Div 318 on August 23, 2011 at 3:54pm

Betsy, I just assumed you were from Florida.  I too am in MD.  I've had enough shaking today to last me a lifetime, thank you!!!

Betsy, he texted, seems ok, just freaked out a little.

nycolejere:  They can only mail out once a week in the beginning and usually can only write on Sundays in the beginning.  So just try and be patient!  Your letters will come!

Thanks, Renee, it's almost unheard of here.  My dad is 79 years old and he said he has NEVER felt one before.

Dianne, so you talked to him and he is ok?

Earthquake struck a massive area....from SC up to Mass.  NJ, NY, MD, VA, etc --my sailor felt it in VA and was properly freaked out (he is relatively close to the epicenter and on a peninsula...yikes).

Thank goodness no severe injuries (although there are  injuries) and no fatalities.
