Welcome to all Anticipating PIR 10/7/2011!!

This group is for those with loved ones who had PIR on 10/07/2011. (PIR is short for Pass-in-Review and just means graduate from Boot Camp.)

It was an amazing ceremony, an amazing opportunity to see our Sailors perform and participate as an entire group, amazing to hear that wonderful Liberty call and completely overwhelming to get those long awaited hugs.

It is our desire that this Group will provide the information, encouragement, and support you need while your loved one continues their Navy Journey. We are hoping you will continue to come back and update everyone on that journey and continue to seek support and encouragement from friends you have already made here.

Enjoy your time here and feel free to Comment and join in the Discussions. Be sure to check out the information in the "Pages" section to the right. This is information that will be of interest to all Members.  (You will need to click on "View All" to see all of them.)

Please review the Community Guidelines and keep OPSEC in mind when you post. If you would not want an enemy to know something, then do not post it here because this is NOT a secure site and the enemy lurks. Please do not post your Sailor's last name and NEVER his/her full name. Also do not use your full name, especially if your last name is the same as your Sailor's. If your Sailor provides specific information about events that will occur, please keep that to yourself and do not post the day/time on here since this information may be sensitive and is not to be shared.

diannep, it has not been confirmed that this TG will PIR in Dress Blues. I checked with PAO and Brian E. Walsh said the following: "We are still waiting on the official word on uniform change. We do not release any information unless it has been approved and released by the chain of command. Once I get the information, I will post it on our Facebook page."  It is not always the first Friday in October, so we will have to wait until it is posted.

So far, divisions confirmed in this group are 329-336 and 947.  Hoping you will be on "the list" Monday with all of the divisions listed.

Oh, come on, Lala.  You can do PIR in the winter!  HA!

This S. Florida lady with her S. Florida older son was up there the first week in Feb 2010!  We survived...but I will say...the weather the weekend before (when my sailor was originally supposed to PIR...) and the weather the weekend after were both awful weather weekends.  We were very blessed to only have some snow flurries during the time we were there...although of course lots of snow on the ground.  Clear roads...a good thing for us!  We don't get many icy roads in S. Florida!  :-)

...thanks to JoJo for passing the link below to me!

Also, blues means "Dress Blues" as opposed to the "Dress Whites" in the video.  They change seasonally back and forth.  Great Lakes changes to Blues the first week of Oct. Every base is different in when they change.

A "treat" for you all this morning.  This is a video of PIR put together by a member of PIR 8/12.  Get the kleenex!

They are carrying their raincoats, if you are wondering.  Your group will be PIRing in blues, the 1st group of the season to do so.

We are doing well thanks you. My Sailors, daughter and SIL are coming home for Labor Day weekend. They were married Sept 3rd last year at the courthouse in Pensacola and they are having a wedding ceremony on the 3rd while they are home. She already picked out a dress and I am taking my 2 step-daughters shopping for bridesmaid dresses tomorrow. It will be an outdoor wedding and we are decorating and using the same arch that Phil and I used for our wedding June 25th. We are very excited that they are coming home for a few days. They are both finished with school and TAD and are enjoying being in the Navy. She got to launch her first jet a few weeks ago and she was very excited about that :-) My youngest son is getting ready to take the ASVAB and we just found out he  finishes high school in Dec. so he may be leaving for bootcamp sooner than we expected. I hope not too soon, I really do not want to be up there for PIR in the winter lol.

Division 335 has been confirmed to have PIR on 10/07/2011, so that means Divisions 335 and 336 are in this TG.
