Welcome to all Anticipating PIR 10/7/2011!!

This group is for those with loved ones who had PIR on 10/07/2011. (PIR is short for Pass-in-Review and just means graduate from Boot Camp.)

It was an amazing ceremony, an amazing opportunity to see our Sailors perform and participate as an entire group, amazing to hear that wonderful Liberty call and completely overwhelming to get those long awaited hugs.

It is our desire that this Group will provide the information, encouragement, and support you need while your loved one continues their Navy Journey. We are hoping you will continue to come back and update everyone on that journey and continue to seek support and encouragement from friends you have already made here.

Enjoy your time here and feel free to Comment and join in the Discussions. Be sure to check out the information in the "Pages" section to the right. This is information that will be of interest to all Members.  (You will need to click on "View All" to see all of them.)

Please review the Community Guidelines and keep OPSEC in mind when you post. If you would not want an enemy to know something, then do not post it here because this is NOT a secure site and the enemy lurks. Please do not post your Sailor's last name and NEVER his/her full name. Also do not use your full name, especially if your last name is the same as your Sailor's. If your Sailor provides specific information about events that will occur, please keep that to yourself and do not post the day/time on here since this information may be sensitive and is not to be shared.

I was in the same position last week wondering if my daughter was going to pass her run test and whether I would get to spend time with her or not. Luckily she passed. I know the feeling of waiting and just not knowing. I will keep your SRs in my prayers.  I also completely agree with Lala.  When I read the post earlier about someone needing a password, my first thought was how do we know it really is someone from our group?  While I  believe it was someone from the above groups, we really should be careful about giving out the password. I just want all the SRs and their families to be safe during the graduation ceremony.  Praying for everyone to get their I'm a Sailor call soon!

My SR also barely missed his time for the run last Thursday and was told that the could try again today.  I have not heard from him, so I don't know if that is good or bad.

Stepmama- I will keep you in my prayers my SR had a little difficulty passing his run but he said he would make it the next time.  I am assuming he did since we have not heard from him.  Also, I am sure your SR has made many friends that will help to support him in this test.

Thank you very much ladies. On the OFF chance (I am believing he will make it on his next run) that he has to enter into a FIT division... will he have time to visit with us, as we are scheduled to arrive into GL for PIR?
Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on October 3, 2011 at 10:27pm
motheroftwo is correct. if he can't pass before PIR date they will put him into the fit DIv and he will keep trying until he passes. If he doesn't pass before PIR he won't have a PIR ceremony. He will go straight to A-school when he finishes. But we are going to pray him through this. He can make up that 13 seconds I am sure. I will keep him in my prayers and you and the rest of your family as well. I know he will give it his best try. Hang in there we all have you in our thoughts and prayers.

Please pray! Our SR missed his run test by 13 seconds. He has another chance tomorrow and possibly Wed.  He said he gets to call home IF he makes it, but if he doesn't he doesn't know what happens next.  That was the end of the call because someone was telling him "Your time is up. You are done."  Does anyone have any idea what happens IF he doesn't make it? I'm believing that God will give him the strength, speed, and endurance to make it in time... but knowing what happens next is a good thing if God's plan is for him to not graduate at PIR on Friday!

PLEASE PRAY!!  We're all heartbroken because of the discouragement in our SRs voice...especially our SR and my 7 year old son who just wants to see his big brother on Friday!!

Awesome jbsgirl, I am so happy you got them in time. Hopefully everyone else has received their ribbons by now as well. If not let me know and I will track the package and see what the holdup is :-)

I know you guys are just trying to help each other out and that is wonderful. believe me I understand. I would be freaking if I was getting ready to go to PIR and didn't have the password. But it is best not to share it with anyone. I know it is probably safe in this case but you never really know who could be on here and could be pretending to have a recruit at bootcamp. By sharing the password you could allow someone without good intentions access to the base. So please anyone else who needs it please just ask your recruit when you get that Sailor Call and don't ask anyone here to share it with you. It is definitely against the rules to share that info with anyone and I don't want to see anyone get in trouble. Thanks

My older son went to Pensacola for IT A school and he was able to come home for Chistmas since there was no school during that time.  It was really nice to have him home.  Our SR that graduates this friday said he should be able to come home for Christmas which would be wonderful since our older son's our out in the fleet, but should be home in time for Chirstmas.  I haven't had all 4 of my kids at home at one time in years!!!
