Welcome to all Anticipating PIR 10/7/2011!!

This group is for those with loved ones who had PIR on 10/07/2011. (PIR is short for Pass-in-Review and just means graduate from Boot Camp.)

It was an amazing ceremony, an amazing opportunity to see our Sailors perform and participate as an entire group, amazing to hear that wonderful Liberty call and completely overwhelming to get those long awaited hugs.

It is our desire that this Group will provide the information, encouragement, and support you need while your loved one continues their Navy Journey. We are hoping you will continue to come back and update everyone on that journey and continue to seek support and encouragement from friends you have already made here.

Enjoy your time here and feel free to Comment and join in the Discussions. Be sure to check out the information in the "Pages" section to the right. This is information that will be of interest to all Members.  (You will need to click on "View All" to see all of them.)

Please review the Community Guidelines and keep OPSEC in mind when you post. If you would not want an enemy to know something, then do not post it here because this is NOT a secure site and the enemy lurks. Please do not post your Sailor's last name and NEVER his/her full name. Also do not use your full name, especially if your last name is the same as your Sailor's. If your Sailor provides specific information about events that will occur, please keep that to yourself and do not post the day/time on here since this information may be sensitive and is not to be shared.

Like most others, I too will never forget where I was on that dreadful day. I was subbing in a high school medical class. We were told to turn the TV on right after the first plane hit. I had 22 students in the room with me as we all watched the second plane hit. We were all in shock many of us in tears. One girl was hysterical. Her dad was a Marine and had just gotten home from some type of business at the Pentagon in Washington. She was trying to reach him on the phone and someone knocked on the door. I opened the door and there he was in full uniform. He had come by to let her know he had to leave because they had called him back to Washington. I felt so bad for her and for everyone and I just wanted to go to the elementary school and pick up my kids and take them home. I will never forget that day.

@ diannep Yes he is Good, I'm very sad when this time comes around to know what kind of monsters could have done what they did. but that is ok, God don't like ugly and they will all get theirs. Thank you. :) we have to think positive which is hard sometimes.

To Lydia, I have not seen a statement, so i really don't know.

Hi guys, I had a question. For that first paycheck (those who received one) how much was taken out for the seabag, etc? I'm trying to make a budget and all the stuff I'm finding is old information. I was hoping someone on here had noted it. =) Thanks.

NukeMom:  So sorry for the loss of your cousin on 9/11...happy that your niece was ok!  Such a sad time for so many families and our nation...my hubby died 6 days after 9/11 so our grief sometimes is really hard at this time of yr. It is also hard because my brother died around this time 4 years ago...but God is good, and we move forward, with pain, but able to receive joy again!

hubluv:  My situation was like yours.  My older son moved out 2 weeks before my sailor left for bootcamp.  I am a widow, so that left me with just my 2 pups in the house!  It was a very hard adjustment at first, but I got to where I liked living by myself...my older son was close by so would see him every now and then...sailor son, not so much...only have seen him 4 times since Nov 2009 but that is the way of the Navy!

So...after really loving living alone...older son moved back in.  HA!  Short-sale on the condo he was renting...4 days notice.  I actually love having him here...rocky at first until we got his "things" incorporated here (he has lots of "THINGS!)...but now, all is well....he is hardly here with work, softball games, friends, etc...so I like the time that he is here.  Pups are happy too!

It is hard for us moms to get used to not having our kids here...no matter how old, right?

Hello everyone, just wanted to wish everyone a great weekend, it is so quiet around my house.  Not only did my son leave for the Navy div 334, but my other son left for college last week. Now it is the empty nest and I am not liking it at all. Saturdays are so silent around here.  There is only so much cleaning that can be done.  I am counting the days until I can see my son and give him the biggest hug ever!!
