Welcome to all Anticipating PIR 10/7/2011!!

This group is for those with loved ones who had PIR on 10/07/2011. (PIR is short for Pass-in-Review and just means graduate from Boot Camp.)

It was an amazing ceremony, an amazing opportunity to see our Sailors perform and participate as an entire group, amazing to hear that wonderful Liberty call and completely overwhelming to get those long awaited hugs.

It is our desire that this Group will provide the information, encouragement, and support you need while your loved one continues their Navy Journey. We are hoping you will continue to come back and update everyone on that journey and continue to seek support and encouragement from friends you have already made here.

Enjoy your time here and feel free to Comment and join in the Discussions. Be sure to check out the information in the "Pages" section to the right. This is information that will be of interest to all Members.  (You will need to click on "View All" to see all of them.)

Stepmama - here is the link - I also sent you a private message.

http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pirreferenceinformation/forum/topi...

I think I would go into the 10/14 group and ask somebody to adopt this SR for the weekend.  Betcha somebody would gladly step up.  I know I would.

Stepmama - if you search through the discussions in th PIR reference information group there is don information about that. I seem to have trouble using my stupid smart phone to copy and paste links. I will check with you tomorrow and past it for you if you can't find it. So sorry they can't make it. Maybe another family will have them join up with them.

Are you all finding a group for your Sailor's A School and/or Rating?  If not, check out my Discussion, Ratings, A School Locations, and Links to Groups.  You have to open the attachment because I didn't know any other way to do it.  The link is also in a Page on here.  If you can't find a group you need, let me know and I'll see what I can find.

I want to thank everyone here for all the chats and the support in getting through boot camp. I am still trying to recover from my road trip. It took quite a lot out of me but it was so worth it! The ceremony was beautiful! I didn't really take pictures....I was too caught up in it. It took me back to my own PIR and just....I dunno.....it was so different to be watching it ya know. Alison told me that there was this one time that they were in the drill hall and she was sitting in the bleachers for some reason and she told one of her shipmates "I have sat in almost this exact spot before" They didn't believe her of course. She was sitting almost exactly where she sat when she came to my PIR! She was only six but she remembered where my division stood during PIR and where she sat to watch it! I get goose bumps just thinking about it but what an awesome experience! I am so proud of my daughter and all of our Sailors! They have come a long way and changes have occurred but for the better! Thanks again for everything. I truly hope we can continue to chat and encourage each other as our Sailors make it through the world of the United States Navy!

Sheilamf and Kathy...my stepson is also in Groton. I believe there was a total of 12 of them that went out together. It is great to be able to maintain contact with each other and hear how everyone is doing. Can anyone help me, help another SR's mama. I have a friend who's son has PIR on Friday. Unfortunately, at the last minute nobody will be able to make it to the ceremony. I think I remember reading about a way to purchase some sort of a graduation package that the sailor would receive before or after PIR....did I dream this or is it real? If it's real...does anyone have details on it? Thank you!!

JoniB - I feel the same way, my son (09 337) is in Meridan, MS.  He said his A school for his LS will start next Monday.

Nuke Mom,

You have been an inspiration to us all.  We will support you and your son, as you have continued to support us and ours!  Thank you!

Hi,

I too, would love to stay in touch!  There are still many things for us to experience, as our Sailors continue on with their Navy education and lives.

Nuke Mom - I'm sure I speak for most of us here, we would also like to stay in touch with you to hear how your son is doing and what great things come his way.

I would like to stay in contact with you all even though my son did not graduate. I would greatly appreciate it.
