diannep and ladies. Flights from Milwaukee, O'Hare and Midway are about the same price. Actually, we weren't planning on flying into Milwaukee. The Frontier Airlines wouldn't let us board our plane to Midway. The excuse they gave was that we were too late to board. We were there an hour and ten minutes before our plane was due to leave. I think they just over-booked. Anyway, there were not enough seats for all of us to fly together on another flight. So, I had remembered that Milwaukee was a close airport to Great Lakes. My husband got a flight to Chicago Midway, and the kids and I Milwaukee. My husband then drove the rented car to Milwaukee to pick us up.  As we were leaving the Milwaukee Airport parking lot. The lady in the ticket booth asked us where we were headed. I told her to my Navy son PIR.  She said: " put away that map on your lap. It's not good, you don't need it. Just drive out of the parking lot and get on the 95. Drive straight down and you will get there in 30 minutes."   I couldn't believe how easy it was to drive to Great Lakes from there.

Our flight back home was via Midway. The drive was terrible. It took us 2 hours to get there. It is through the worst part of Chicago.  I don't recommend that any of you buy tickets to or from Midway. You are better off going into Milwaukee or O'hare.

We had such a great time at PIR and the weekend with our son. It was well worth it. No matter what. Try to go to your Sailors PIR if you can. It is something you will never forget.

Hi everyone, I am Lala, another veteran mom here to help you through this journey. I have 2 sailors, my daughter and her husband and I have been helping on this site for over a year. I am sure you have heard it before but as hard this all seems right now it will get better. Go ahead and start writing those letters and write every day if you can. They live for mail call. It will be a couple weeks at least before they are able to receive mail so don't worry too much about not having the address yet. By the time they are allowed to have mail you should have the form letter and have the letters you have been writing on the way to them.  If you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to ask. That is what we are here for. Welcome to N4M's and to your PIR group :-)

Are any of you facebook fans?

Mondays @ noon central time. RTC facebook  has "Mixed up Mondays" where they scramble a BC scene and the first one to guess gets a photo of your SR division posted.

Tuesdays @ 1100 central time is "Tuesday trivia". They will post a BC question  and again someone wins a pic of your division posted on RTC page.

Lots of fun!

I'm a trivia buff, so I've been practicing while my SR in DEP,but these moms mean business!! they post answers in like 20 sec!!  Gotta keep practicing!!

Thanks for the Milwaukee info, Sandy and Betsy.  I had forgotten that you all did that.  I know that JessicaB did also and said it was wonderful.

The only thing ladies have to watch out for is---if they want to spent time at the Chicago airport with their departing sailor, they need to make sure their own return flight is later Sat or Sun from Milwaukee...unless they leave from Chicago like you did, Sandy.  Did it cost more for you to return from Chicago rather than Milwaukee?  Just curious.
