For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by diannep on May 20, 2012 at 8:16am: Lala, my older son loves working for the NASCAR Speedway down here. He is on their mgmt team, but hands-on with the work so very involved. Gets to work the Daytona races too. The F-250 company truck thrown into the mix was a huge plus! No more $$ to maintain a personal vehicle for him. YAH!

I think it was much like you trying to find your Sailor in a sea of white at PIR :-)The pic below was taken at the race Friday night. I am not sure if he was in Red last night. I think the fire crew wears red. I am not sure what time they got in last night but I am ready to wake him up and hear all about it. Guess I better let him sleep a little while longer haha.

Comment by ReneeBC on May 19, 2012 at 11:23pm: I watched Denny Hamlin's pitstop and saw a bunch of guys in navy blue... at night... with ball caps... with bills that put their faces in shadow! I told my husband to be looking for an 18 yr old face amongst the pitcrew, BUT after seeing that first place pitstop I said , "I bet his own mother couldn't spot him!" Though, I hope you did!!!

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on May 19, 2012 at 9:04pm: We are having a pretty exciting evening in our house :-D My 18 yr old son has been training for several weeks with the fire department on how to put out fires in cars or in car crashes. Tonight he is working as a volunteer for the Pit Crew for Denny Hamlin in tonight's all star race. So whenever Denny Hamlin comes into pit road we will likely see him. And in case there is a fire he is ready. He is super excited as you can imagine. What a fun and exciting adventure for our future Sailor :-)

I know that my husband would write to me the first chance he got. So either he couldn't write for some reason or my mail is really really slow. You aren't alone.

I copy and paste photos to Word. Then I shrink it down to an approximately 1 3/4 X 2 1/4 " picture in the upper corner of the page and hit print, creating my own "stationery." I put a different picture on each page, so my SR gets several "photos" without risk. One shot was the flag in our front yard (see profile picture), the dog, the cat, our SR's sister and her family, his dirty car, his clean car after we washed it (LOL), the logo of our son's Crossfit affiliate, and so on...
