My SR sent a letter and we recieved it Wednesday.. He told us not to even send pictures, they will take them from him..  He misses all of his families faces.. So I was going make a card with our picture on it.  So they might just think its a normal card.. Any other suggestions?

tatmom4rc, you are correct everyone knows their own SR and how they will handle things.

My son happened to be saying in his letters that he was missing certain things he couldn't have a boot camp and how much he was looking forward to getting them when done. My virtual care package "sent" him the things he wanted and let him know I was listening to him and was right there with him.

He found it amusing that with the picture of his computer I also sent a picture of his game authenticator that he would need in order to play a game that requires it. "I guess you know me better than I thought mom. LOL"

Yes, you will know what your own SR can handle, be creative, they love to hear from you.

Happy weekend everyone! Here's hoping our letter were delivered and the mail-person is kind in return. Or, better yet, a more modern communication technology is used, like a phone call!

lol Laurie, hopefully he will :-)

Good Morning everyone and Happy Saturday. Sorry I was MIA yesterday. I had to take my Mom to the Doc and then we went shopping. We finally have a new Joann Fabric Store in Asheville :-) Loving that we have a new place but man fabric just gets more and more expensive!!!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend :-)

I agree - I like the idea of sending things that they like - I have avoided talking about dinners, meals etc. that may make them miss what they had as civvies.  I want him to know we are there supporting him - not remind him of what he is missing.  Everybody knows their SR - they should do what works for them!!

I love the ideas of sending them pictures of their favorite things. I copies and pasted a picture of our dog onto letter paper and then sent him a letter from her. I think he'll like it, I just hope he remembers to write us back when he answers her letter.

Welcome, bensmominca!  Please be sure to read through the discussions above in the FORUM.  Lots of info there!

I sent my son a "virtual" care package. I got pictures of everything I knew or thought he might be wanting there at BC and copied them on to a piece of paper. It had pictures of Kit Kats, IntaJuice, lounge pants, boxer shorts, Burrito from Qudoba, Frosty from Wendys, his car and computer etc.  I grouped them and wrote notes such as, for your fourth meal, sleeping pleasure, after a long march etc. Wrote a note at the bottom saying it won't be long and you can have everything x 10.

He replied "Can I have them now...LOL."

There are lots of things you can send them just use your imagination, and the song lyrics BJA57 brilliant idea!

Just joined the group... Got my first REAL letter from my son (YAY), after receiving THE BOX and the form letter.  Wuff.  SO proud of my son, but his absence sure left a hole in our house. Looking forward to "meeting all of you", here and in person in June.
