BJA57- I am so glad they are allowed at least 4 guaranteed guests now.  We have 2 extra so I am hoping we can get them in.  I was so happy to hear that we get a graduation book!  I never heard that mentioned on here before!!! Yeah!  I am crying already!

ooppss--- this was meant for this group, not all the Boot Camp-ers.....

When our son graduated 5 years (!!) ago, he had to list the attendees for the ceremony. Although he was told he could have only 2 guests, as time grew closer, they allowed him to have more. Since there are 12 divisions on 6/29 and the hall can accommodate at least 15 divisions, there should be enough room for every sailor to have a few more than 2 people. Also, their names are not called out. They are listed in the graduation book by division, then by last name with picture.

This is a serious ceremony, conducted with decorum and pride. (and parental tears!)  It was nothing like I had witnessed before. Truly amazing.

This process is training for parents, also. There will be times in the future when contact will be limited; when worry will be a constant companion. Know that your recruit is working hard, learning lots, being stretched and molded into the best person they can be, into the sailor that is needed. Know that you are growing and learning and being molded also. Life is wonderful! Your child has chosen a path that is perfect for them at this time.

Right sailor

Right time

Right place

Be encouraged!!!!

I will send letter to my SR today and tell him to spread the word about this site!  It has been so helpful to me - I would be so lost without everyone's support and information that has been shared on here!

Comment by diannep on May 16, 2012 at 11:14am

I think you all are finding that so few SRs are represented by ladies on this site.  It is very sad, but so many don't know about N4Moms or choose not to join.

For instance, this PIR group probably started with about 1056 SRs.  Some will be discharged or asmoed (setback), but they will gain some others from earlier PIR groups who are now ready to resume training...but still usually don't get back up to 88 or so per division.  Anyway, with only 69 members of this N4Moms PIR group, you can see how few are represented here.  It is very sad that more don't know about this site since it is so helpful in so many ways!
