Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons , leftwayleft (Ship 11 Div 196)'s
What dose PIR stand for ? but any way this is very good & kind advice.
(Dana, maybe some of the other members who are in your division and will be going to PIR will be so kind as to look for your Sailor and give him/her a hug and maybe even take a couple pictures and send them to you. your Sailor knows who will be looking for him/her at PIR. And who knows maybe they could let him use their cell phone to give you a call :-) This site is filled with wonderful members who are great at helping out with things like this )
what is the t shirt all about is it for our SR or us or both?
Dana, maybe some of the other members who are in your division and will be going to PIR will be so kind as to look for your Sailor and give him/her a hug and maybe even take a couple pictures and send them to you. The good thing is you have plenty of time to coordinate everything so your Sailor knows who will be looking for him/her at PIR. And who knows maybe they could let him use their cell phone to give you a call :-) This site is filled with wonderful members who are great at helping out with things like this :-) I'm sorry you won't be able to go but maybe you can make a trip to visit at A-school instead.
DanaVann, like diannep said please don't send care packages while they are in BC. There are "care packages" that are available to send your SR for PIR since you will not be able to make it, they are from the MWR. They are delivered to them and available to pick up on the PIR date if I remember correctly.
This is the website address for it.
Welcome, DanaVann: Please free free to start a discussion above for Div 195. I don't see that anyone has yet. We ask that there just be one discussion per division. Just click "Add a Discussion" above and begin!
And, no....please don't send care packages! The SRs get in trouble for this...they are not allowed to have anything but letters, makeup/hair styling aids (for the girls before PIR), and contacts (again for PIR). If you send a care package, your SR will be made to open it in front of the RDCs (his bosses!) and the goodies will be taken from your SR....happened to my son. We still don't know who sent him a care pkg at Christmas time back in 2009 when he was there, but it was ordered from a place in TX and contained no one's name inside. He was "grilled" by the RDCs about who he knew in TX. He knew no one, but we figure it was ordered by someone in his hometown from a vendor in TX. Finally, they finished grilling him, and took the "goodies." Later, he saw the RDCs enjoying them in their office! :-)
What shirts are you talking about? The division tshirts that the SRs will design themselves? If those are the ones you want to order, here is the phone number for Poseiden Sportswear, the company that will be making the shirts:
972-347-6655
Avaya: If you book on Southwest, it is not too early to buy them. They have no charge if you change your reservations. Also, 2 bags can be checked for free. They fly into Chicago-Midway and Milwaukee. We always suggest trying for Milwaukee because there is less traffic and it is usually cheaper. That airport is about 45 minutes from RTC (straight interstate). Midway is the furthest airport away. Keep in mind that if your sailor will be flying out to A School, you may want to wait with him/her at the Chicago (Ohare or Midway) airport until they fly out---so if you happen to be flying back yourself on that day, allow time to drive to Milwaukee. But we always suggest that you book out on Sunday if possible....don't want to miss any time with your sailor!
For those whose sailors will stay in GL for A School, booking out late Sunday or even Monday if possible allows you to spend most of the weekend (daytime) with your sailor since they have daytime liberty Sat and Sun (other than any "watch" time).
Hello everyone.. my SR is in Ship II Div 195 and I haven't seen anyone else from that Div.. If anyone can help me, I want to know where do I order the shirts from:? I won't be able to make PIR and can I send a care package. My SR is going to FL.
Does anyone know if the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites on base is decent place to stay? I just reserved 2 suites but can cancel if I need to.
Thanks Lala and Diannep, AF and Navy are so different. Still learning...
