Welcome Jo Ann!
If your usename has your last name and it is the same as your Recruit/Sailor, you will need to change it. If it is different it is still not a good idea as this is a public site and anyone may read the posts…they do not have to be a member. That is your choice though.
To change your username on here.
Just go to "Settings" which is in the list in the far right hand column of this page...under where you sign out of N4M's.
Your profile page will open.
Under "Profile" Username is the third item down.
Clear the info and type in your new username.
Once you do that make sure to click "save" at the bottom right of the page.
It may also be in your URL…web address.
To change your URL:
See in the address bar at the top of the screen at the end of the "http" when you pull your page up that your name is at the end of the address?
To change that, again go to "Settings".
Once your profile page comes up go to the left and you will see a list of options.
Click "My Page". The third item down is "Address”.
In the box clear the info and type in whatever you want to be at the end of your URL. Your new username is the best idea.
Again click "Save".
Let me know if you need help!
OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time to read the N4M’s Community Guidelines and OPSEC. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture...at least while they are in Boot.
Keep those cell phones with you if you can...we advise that a great place is ummm...your Bra set on vibrate! Next to your heart!
There is no guarantee that they will be able to call on Mother's Day...sorry :-(. I know it is hard...always be prepared but try not to be anxious. Hugs!

This is what I was told....so maybe if I can plan something towards the end of A school...
Not really. Their schedule is very tight and demanding during the week and usually leave is only granted for emergencies. As for Liberty, it will depend on what day you're thinking of. First off you need to know what phase he's in I, II, III. During the week, if it's not a duty section day, he can be picked up and you can go to dinner or something like that. If it's weekend, again as long as he doesn't have duty section that weekend (he can't leave base if he does), and he's already phase III, you can sign him out friday when they call liberty, usually between 3-5pm, and he wouldn't have to be back until sunday evening. If he's phase II, he needs to be back every night for muster. He has to stay within a certain distance though (ex. Orlando is too far and he'd need a chit, also known as a permission, for it) Hope this all makes sense, if you have any other questions let me know :-)
Yes I am very proud of my boys! I did inquire about that - my SR will be in Pensacola for A School and will still be there when his brother leaves fro the Marines. I am trying to bring my son down to Pensacola to see his brother before he leaves and hopefully they can spend some time together because it may be a long time before they will be in the same place again. I will look for the post I received regarding that and post it here.
I know you are proud of your boys.. That is a great thing that they want to protect and service our great country.. Do you know if you can visit your SR at A school?
Mine too! this year all the holidays are going to be hard. This will be the first without my SR and my youngest son will be going into the Marines in November - so this year I will be all alone for all the holidays. At least I will be able to talk to my SR by then!
I will even have my phone on my in church. I will be making a mad dash for the door. This is my first Mother's Day without all my kids at home..
