You can also change the picture of your group. Search the net for Navy Pics and find something you like! diannep has some good info for this.

1stlove:  If you can fly Southwest, I would say YES.  Even other airlines into Milwaukee may be cheaper. The drive is easier...no traffic.  Plan to stay in GL until Sunday in case your sailor is there for the weekend (some will fly out on Sat).  They will fly out of Chicago and you can go wait with them....but if that is the case with your sailor, no problem visiting in Chicago and then flying out from Milwaukee the next day.

I would check prices into Chicago and Milwaukee....but the no change fee is a nice feature with Southwest, and the free checked baggage.  Might give you peace of mind that if, God forbid, your SR is setback and PIR date changed, you will only pay the difference in the price of the ticket...which in my case (because it happened to me)...the new tickets were cheaper!

Thank you Ladies God knew what he was doing when he created this website.....Good stuff right here

diannep so you are the second person to mention millwaukee is that my best option?

Jen:  Once you get your form letter, feel free to start a division group for your division up top.

1stlove:  Refundable tickets are VERY expensive.  I agree with Lala...it is usually cheaper to pay a change fee if necessary.  But if booked with Southwest, you won't have this problem--no change fee, 1st 2 checked baags are free. They fly into Milwaukee (just about 45 min north of GL) or Midway (Chicago).  Midway is a bit further from GL.  Ohare is the closest, but Southwest doesn't fly into Ohare, I don't believe.

1stlove, I will try to answer some of you questions :-)

You can definitely go ahead and reserve your hotel room. The hotels there will allow you to cancel up to the day you are due to arrive with no charge or fee.

I think it is a bit early to purchase airline tickets but you are right, the sooner you get them the cheaper they will most likely be. I have read that buying them on certain days of the week will get you a better price. South West is the only airline who doesn't have a fee to change your tickets, you would just pay the difference in the price. If you buy the insurance with other airline that allow you to change with no fee you may pay more than you would have to pay if you paid the fee and the price difference. I hope that makes sense.

All the other DIV's besides 800's & 900's are just normal recruits, not that the others aren't normal lol. The others just don't have to preform like the 900's do. The 800's are special ops and have more rigorous training but they are not performers.

I hope this helps.

Jen, the Discussions for each DIV are usually added to each PIR group page once the form letters are all received and we know how many Div's there are.

Hello PIR at this time I think its safe to say that we are all int he same position the in between lol. We have recv'd our box and form letter and know that at a minimum it could be 2 weeks before we get thrown another bone lol.....N4M is so addicting I find myself reading everything that gets put up in my groups. I have been addicted to writing since tuesday I have put minimum of 4 letters a day in mail for my girl. Not to mention practically threatning people to write her lol.....

is anyone from California in this division? or soemone that traveled a distance is it premature to buy tickets and try to save money?

should we be waiting for the just in case?

Are the refundable tickets and changeable tickets the same thing?

I know that there are instances when our recruits can me bumped to a later PIR date how common is this?

aggiemom asked about the 800/900 division what about the 300 hundres and so on are those actual sailors now is that what it is?

sorry for all the questions I have done lots of research but these I haven't found so anyone with answers would be greatly appreaciated....

Okay...for whatever reason there isn't a "Pages" section anymore...(Not anything you have or have not done aggiemom!) so, I am going to go back to posting all my info the way I used to up in the Discussion Forums.

Make sure you read the Community Guidelines and OPSEC ladies, very important.

...AND just because I post info DOES NOT mean I don't want y'all to ask questions! It's just to hopefully make your search for info a little bit easier. I'll always point you to a post but answer the question as well!

Happy Reading!
