Micaela, what a wonderful person you are. Your parents are very blessed to have a sweet daughter like you.
We will always be our kids mommies. No matter what.....
Ladies. It is so hard when your children leave home. Especially when it is your first born. When my son left for boot camp, I felt as if a part of me left with him. It was a bit of a shock. I guess this feeling is what everyone calls "Empty Nest Syndrome." Well, what ever it was. I didn't like it.
I didn't recognize my son at his PIR. Thinking back to that moment, this wasn't because he "looked different.' but because he was different. He was more mature, confident and happy. At that moment. I felt so very proud and I still am.
My son has been in the Navy now for 14 months. It took me awhile after PIR weekend to believe/realize/accept that my son will always be my son. No matter where he lives.
My hubby and I talk to our Sailor on Skype 3 times a week. He is not home, but he will always be with me.
@micaela thank you I needed to hear all of those things. yes this is the bottom of one of those hills in the roller coaster ready to go up............Yes this is my first to leave home I have 4 daughters she is the oldest and then I have a 16 yr old and a set of twin girls 10yrs old.
@ christa thank you, when we get where we are to hear that your not alone and that other people feel what your feeling makes things a little lighter on the heart.
Thank you ladies this why I cam here with my emotions.......
1stlove: First and foremost, I ALWAYS NEED MY MOMMY!!! The reality for me also is that I too will be leaving "home" as in the same town or even state as my family because of the decision my husband and I made for him to join the Navy. I have lived on my own as I am married but my family and I are very close (we even work together, yikes) and it saddens me that I am leaving all of this behind per se, but my mom is still my mommy. Even my 25 year old husband calls her mommy.....she will always need you and although she may not ask for you "permission" she will always seek your advice and acceptance. I cannot relate to your feelings as a mother, but as a daughter....I would give the shirt of my back for my mom....and by the sound of your daughter and her courageous decision to join the Navy, she sounds like yes, she is becoming her own person.....but that person will always need her mommy.....I see where this is coming from because I see that she is your oldest right? when my sister first moved out my mom couldn't go look in her room for a few weeks. Once you are able to see her and hug her as a "Young Woman" at PIR, your heart will be overwhelmed with joy that your raised her to be who she is today :) daughters never forget that.....
Also, ASK TO READ THEIR LETTERS!!!! LOL I ask my husbands mother....I dont care if they dont like it, read it to me! I just want to know he is ok!!! Maybe give somebody a call and ask them to recap what she did that week and so on..... not read the whole thing but ya know what I mean. lol.
Ive been going through a funk too because we are so close yet so far away and our division hasn't gotten much of communication from the start so I know what you mean but you will pep right up when that letter comes :) maybe even a phone call....could you imagine?!!!
sorry little blue cause she hasn't sent me mail in a week..I know she has wrote some because she is writing family and friends....kinda sad cause I like want to read their letters. no I haven't actually asked them but you know what I mean....
Thank you no one else understands but us so here I am
