OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

It is up to you, Emily.  There are good things about both!  We took the shuttle when there and had no issues ($3/pp each way), others drove and had no issues.  Except those who waited in the long line of cars because they didn't know that they could keep to the left, bypass RTC, turn around, and do an easy left turn into RTC.  Others opt to drive and park off base (at train station, paid parking I think) which is about 1/2-3/4 mile from RTC....so easy walk to the gates....that way, they can leave quickly after PIR and jump the train to Chicago if they want, or head out in their cars around the area.  There is not one right or wrong way.  Just a matter of preference!

Emily, I bought my sailor a watch since its a nice gift that they can carry around easily.

Hey guys, is it better to drive to rtc, or take a shuttle?

Last minute shopping....
I need a cool idea for a graduation gift. I already got my boyfriend a navy emblem pendant for his chain I bought him at Christmas, but I would also like to get him something else. Any suggestions, or what have y'all bought for your sailors?

Safe Travel for those leaving today!  Enjoy Sarge's MeetandGreet tonight!

Magy:  Are you driving?  If so, no need to leave that early.  You can leave between 6:15 and 6:30, but here is a hint:  On Buckley, main drag to RTC, stay in the LEFT lane, the line of cars going to RTC will be on your right.  Bypass RTC and turn around right past it near the train station.  Head back to RTC from the opposite way.  Easy left turn into RTC that way..  We have had confirmation from ladies in past groups that this works!  No waiting in that long car line!

If taking a shuttle from a hotel, try to be on the earliest one you can, but they don't wait in the car lines so no problem getting there.

Good Morning All !

So my sailor told me to get there to wait in line at 545 to get a good seat. Is there really a need for me to do this.
