Mary - just talked to mine. He said they had been in a couple hours but had to hook up shore power. He is off until tomorrow morning, so will talk to him later tonight. Yeah!!!
Yea Mary - yes, they do send a letter from the captain, at least they did when my son got his. I went on line and ordered a patch of his sub and a pair of the dolphins and had the letter framed and matted with the patch and dolphins on it. Turned out really nice - if I can figure out how to post a picture, I will post it on the nuke moms site. Did he say anything or give any clues about when he MIGHT be back??
Skyped with my son a bit last night. He is going to be a Division Officer on Blue Crew. He has met with his superior and his Chief as well as the sailors who will be in his division, and believes that he will get along great with them. His division is overall very experienced, and he's afraid that he will slow them down!
He also said that everyone seems to like the new skipper, and he is looking forward to his first time Under Way. It'll be here before we know it.
Welcome MyHrtBlongs2ASubmariner!
Mary - I did get one last night, Said he was fine, busy, not much sleep.. He did say he could get the email most time, just couldn't send any out. It has been a long 50 or so days with no communication. Looking forward to hearing from him before too long.
Mary - I look here everyday, hoping someone has heard something. My son has gone on several underways, but this is the longest he has been out that we have not heard anything. We went to visit the weekend before they left and actually got to go on the sub. He showed us his rack and some of the common areas and the office where he was to be working some. He is a nuke EM so we didn't get to see any of that area, but he is helping with testing so spends some time in an office. His rack is in a room with 8 others, kinda "U" shaped room with three racks on each side. His in on the top, and no ladder :) so just kinda swings up there!! I did take him a box with a card to open for each week he was gone - it made me feel better - hope he looks at them and knows we are thinking about him. But..it is hard to not hear anything. Looking forward to getting to visit with him sometime this summer. Oh....my sisters and I go on a sister's trip each year. It was my turn to decide this year and couldn't decide where to go, so we are going to stay in his apartment in Kingsland and take some day trips to Jekyll Island and St. Augustine and do some shopping in Jacksonville. (only problem - he doesn't know we are staying in his apt.!!) I have sent him an e-mail asking, but since we haven't heard..and I do have a key..we are going anyway!! If you do hear anything from your son, please let me know. Thanks!!
My son reported to Blue Crew last week. All he could tell me about Gold is that they should be back sometime around June. Don't you just love OpSec? But hey, its there to keep our LOs safe.
Yolanda or Mary - either of you had an e-mail yet?? Just wondering- I'm missing my boy!!
