I don't know why there is this great divide either. Perhaps it's the Navy that perpetuates it. They do keep Officers and enlisted people separate - you know, separate quarters, separate clubs, etc. My LO told me that the life of an officer on a submarine can be lonely because they can't really fraternize with the enlisted personnel. Maybe that's what creates the divide. However, in my mind, they're all the same... they're all putting their lives on the line and all deserve special treatment!

It will get here soon Madre... :) Ok ladies i have a really strange question that i feel really bad asking and I don't mean my question rudely or to be offensive towards anyone but, why is it that when I ask a question and something is said about my husband being an officer or they find out I am an officer spouse some members treat me differently?? It is like they don't want to speak to me after that.

Also, my husband just wrote home and said something about family week. He is in OCS currently. Does this week happen right before graduation, or is it at another time?

Patsy, B's ship came in one time 8-12 days early (he was enlisted). We ended up going down to a week later over thanksgiving .

A Tiger cruise is where family and friends meet the ship at some point on the way home (sometimes Hawaii for Pacific cruises, Camp Lejeune for Atlantic) and go on board for the final few days of the cruise.

Well. for instance, the carrier series we watch was out of San Deigo. Loved ones who wanted to flew to Hawaii and got a 5 day cruise on the carrier with their sailors. there were aur shows and all kinda of things. We are so excited we can hardly wait.

What is a Tiger Cruise?
Comment by Wonder Woman on September 3, 2010 at 12:18pm
We have been watching "Carriers" again on PBS. We want to go on the Tiger Cruise. How do they make room for the parents? Last night some of the sailors flew home from Hawaii so my guess is that's how they do it. My question is, when we get a "port of call" date...is it etched in stone? Can I feel safe in buying an airline ticket?
