For those of you that have had trouble getting on the OCS website, I just read on the Navy OCS portal that the website has changed. Here is the new link: http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/otc/index.asp

Hi cekj5, My LO is in class 2010. I understand how you feel! It's hard not knowing, but I just pray every day and have found peace knowing the Lord will take care of him. Also, I remind myself that this is what he wants to do. They keep them very busy and the first few weeks he would write on sundays--letters took a week each way. He really liked getting letters!! I kept things positive and usually didn't ask him questions. I just told him what's going on at home and with his friends that I know--some from college swim team (through fb). I included comics, pictures printed on paper-- of things like his dog and inspirational moments. I looked on the Navy OCS Portal for information on what they may be doing each week. Also this site is a great support along with Facebook class group I found a few weeks ago. Hope this helps! My LO's class just started Candio phase and they got their cell phones--hooray!!

Hi Sue, thank you so much for your kind words and validating my feelings. It is so nice to talk to other moms that understand about our rough days. I do feel much better today. I was so tired I think I was out in 2 seconds flat when I finally hit the pillow. It is amazing what a good night's sleep can do! I know things will calm down here and I am so looking forward to the Hi Moms! Each day is a day closer to that. He has RLP next week and I am totally keeping ALL my letters positive. I wish for all those with LOs doing this next week that our LOs will pass with flying colors!! Sue, where is your son now? Is he on a ship or sub or at school? We'll I am off to work, have a good day everyone.

Hi Everyone. So I'm really missing my son. He is at OCS now and I haven't heard from him in awhile. My husband reminds me that we'd go stretches without hearing from him when he was at college so why does this feel so different? I guess because I know I can't just pick up the phone and call him. It's been a rough two weeks - daughter had to have a procedure done and stitches, worried about my dad's health and stressed with 2 kids getting ready to go to college. My son who is at OCS always has a way of brightening up any situation - well, I'm sorry, I guess I'm venting. I'll probably feel better tomorrow.....maybe as navy moms, at some point or another, we find ourselves missing our LOs but I keep telling myself no news is good news and then I feel better. Besides I know he is doing what he has wanted to do since he was in 8th grade. Thanks N4Ms for letting me web talk.

Paymaster I so agree when my son came back on the ship and we greeted it at port I pick my son out among all the dress whites. His dad thinks I was crazy but I was right!!! A mother knows her son!!!!

They don't call me "Hawkeye" for nothing.

Paymaster - this is so cool and the fact that you could identify your son is even cooler!!

Finally saw my son on his ship. This was posted on the ships website. He's the one on the far right wearing a yellow shirt and baseball cap.

Only a mother could pick her child out of small picture like this. My husband didn't believe me that it was our son, so he had to enlarge the picture to prove me wrong, needless to say he was wrong and it is our son.

Rosemarie - Candio (Candidate Officer) phase starts at week 9 or 10. They get many of their privledges returned, wear the khaki uniforms, have assigned duties (my daughter was Division Adjutent, so she prepared attendance reports and chow hall schedules), and basically get ready to graduate and join the fleet.
