I apologize if I upset anyone. When my LO told me weeks ago that he was getting "beat up", I got so upset. I thought he was getting a physical beating! He then explained that it's a term they use for the physical aspects of OCS and yes, the first few weeks are very difficult for them. The first time I heard from him, his voice was so hoarse I could barely hear or understand him. They're screaming 24/7. Maybe new candidates should take vocal lessons and learn to scream from the diaphram and not the throat!! : ) It is the hardest thing to hear how your LO's are getting treated, but it is true, they come out stronger in the end. I now hear the pride in my son's voice of his accomplishments when he calls as he only has 2.5 weeks left before graduation.

We know been there done that. Just remember.... No news is good news NNIGN. It will be a while before you hear from him. They have long days and they will be very tired. Even though you know, it is not easy to just sit and think. I cried the first week. They are young when they go in and mature when they emerge from the other side. Hang in there, the time will go by faster than you think. Someone told me when everyone looks back this will be just like summer camp! Keep your chin up. We are here for you....LZ

Yes you are right madre. I spoke with my son yesterday and he said it was a hard day and today was going to be the same. Rest assured Wednesday will be the real eye opener

My LO told me that they were busy "beating up" on the new candidates so I imagine, it's the group that just began. I apologize in advance for anything my child is doing to any of yours! However, just know that in 9 weeks, your child will be doing the same thing to some other person's child!

KathyB, My son had an ROTC scholarship also. It was for one school and he wanted to go to another so he asked if the scholarship could be switched to the school he wanted to go to and the Navy said yes. You might have your daughter see if that is a possibility.

It is fork day in Newport...yeah! My son is offically a Candio at OCS 19-10 and the war spoon is retired. I also received the Ensign box I ordered for his graduation gift. It is gorgeorus and everything I hoped it to be. Now i'm excited about his graduation form OCS. Time to get the suitcase out to go. Can't wait!
