Kathy B...just a reminder...this is normal to "go crazy" and have your sanity pushed to there limits! She is in a position where she is no longer a little girl and turning into that wonderful young women that you have been working on for 18+ years. Congrats to a wonderful mom. Now it is up to her to show you what she's made of. It might take a little bit, but soon she will reap the rewards of all the hard work that she will be putting into becoming an officer! She has two weeks to let go of that little girl inside her....that might seem like a long time
to her, (but not to us moms).

Wendy,
I sent your request about the dogs to my sister who rescues animals and has a lot of contacts with other people who do. They work hard to find homes for animals. Good luck!!!

Sorry for what your son and your family is going through:( Pet Finder is a good resourse for listing pets. I used it to find my second dog and it would reach a wide audience specifically looking for dogs. The website is www.petfinder.com

Good morning all. NavyMomXXXY - glad you're healing. My son in law chatted me up on FB last night. He told me that the weps have crushes on my daughter and call her the Amazon Princess (she's 5'10")! Also, I found a press release about the ship, so I know a little more about where they are going and what they are doing, She still isn't assigned to a division, but is learning about the operation of the ship. She's happy, so I'm happy. Have a great day!

NMXXXY - Glad you are doing better! Have fun! but maybe not on that vehicle of yours. :) Glad you enjoyed your visit with XY. Would it be any other way?
All's quiet around here. I was so excited to get to talk on "skype" with my son for @ 45 minutes when he was in port but no communications for over a week. I wonder what they are doing??? Guess I will get used to this eventually.

Meet and greet are lots of fun. If you like having many meet and greets within your geographical area, you can create a your own calendar for the year. This was a little more work than I had anticipated. I will probably simplify our whole meet and greet program next year but here is what I post on the San Francisco Bay Area Navy Families site and a link to one of the Events. The calendar was created using MS Publisher and saved as a JPG file for uploading as an image on N4M.

Meet and Greets:
1. Assign a host/organizer
2. Name tags & Sharpie pen
3. Restaurant or at a private home? Pros and Cons of each.
Restaurant - pro: no one is stuck with paying a lot. Go dutch, you come, you eat, you pay - con: not very intimate, time of event may be limited, some will not come because they can't afford it.
Private home - pro: wonderful, warm friendly environment - con: the host/organizer has to do a ton of work.
Thoughts: have it at a coffee shop, pastry shop - less expensive. I personally would not drive 2 hours to have coffee but ..... at a private home, make it a pot luck to cut expense for host/organizer, let people sign up for what they can contribute (some will do main course, others will do salads, desserts, drinks, snacks, etc.
4. Getting the word out, setting up the meet and greet on N4M EVENT calendar
Below is a MSWORD file, click on it, save it to your MY DOCUMENTS for future reference, print it out and follow the instructions. I would send a message to the group (Use the "Send a message to the group" on the upper right) 3 weeks prior to event or immediately after setting up the Event (assuming you have input the Event already). In this WORD file, there is a suggestion on how to send address/phone number to attendees. I don't recommend disclosing address and phone numbers on an open site.
