I spent the last day with five young women (the North Cal Retreat for Young Wives, Fiancees and Girlfriends). Our future is in good hands. I thought being an "elder" mom (since I am old enough to be a mom to some of our Navy moms), I would have pearls of wisdom to pass on. Wrong. I learned from these young gals the meaning of perseverance, dedication, tolerance, focusing on goals, money management & friendship. I came away feeling if the future of our country is in the hands of these young women and their sailors, we will be OK. More than OK.

Planned on a quiet day at home, both kids were have an"end of the world" experience. Spent a lot of time on the phone with each of them. Then I took my dog to her favorite fenced in lot to find a great big mud puddle that she just loved to dig in with her nose and paws. My yellow lab looked like a dalmation by the time she was done (which didn't take long) and then she shared her muddy glory with me! She was not happy to get the hose shower outside but that muddy dirty dog was not coming in my house! Now I have my nice clean yellow dog back. So much for a quite day at home. Oh yeah the Yankees won today!

They did so well on midterms and drill they got their phones back last week. J said the same thing about his DI too. He said he has learned a lot from including respect.

L727 - Yay for Candio phase. He may get his cell phone back soon, depending on the instructor. BTW, my daughter loved her DI. She said he was tough, but fair. Graduation is so close now!

Hi, All, Lots going on here. Belated birthday wishes, Sally. Hope that boy of yours comes around soon. Welcome, Nancy!
Thought I would let you all know that I had almost an hour conversation with my son on Skype today. It was 1 a.m. where he was. He said he was exhausted from all the exercises/watch he has been doing. It was good to be able to lay eyes on him, though. They are enjoying being in port now. It's amazing how much better you feel after you talk with them or just see them......most of the time. :)
