NurseNavyMom: LOL ... I love your term "halfheimers"! I, too, suffer from it.

Happy Day after Mother's Day. It is a beautiful and cool morning here in the hot south.

Wow you must be very proud of your children and their dedication to our country. And Like NurseNavyMom they are in our prayers.

Rose4256 and NurseNavyMom: while losing the job was bad financially, I considered it in a positive way...it al least gave us the time to travel twice last year to WA where our son is stationed, we also saw him at Auburn U (where graduated in 2005) and last May he commissioned his best friend into the Navy. If I was working we wouldn't have traveled!

It also was a positive thing to give me to time to work with a past colleague and decide to co-author together again after 8 years. While we wrote business books before, this time we're going to do sports stories for 9-12 year olds that teach various lessons including character. And lastly, it's given me the time to sit back and give thanks for my life and my family. This year will mark the 5th anniversary of continuous shrinking of a tumor in my right eye. God is Good, Life is Great, and I love the changes that are happening. Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mom's and fellow supporters.

Jane(Steph's mom): It's not easy letting go. I've been there and continue to be there. I have three of my own. I look at it as moving on to a more mature relationship that is ever changing with the kids. But do keep busy with the rest of family, friends, and life in general. I live in GA. This year, I have my son & his wife in WA state in the Navy. He's still waiting for his first deployment (and it might be Japan, too). He's just announced that they're expecting their first baby! If he's deployed at the time the baby's due, then his wife will come back to GA to have the baby. That would be nice and we'll be able to be there. If he's not deployed at that time, I've started saving my pennies and checking for cheap flights to WA to be there later on. What fun to travel to a new place. I'm even going to save up to go to Japan if he get's assigned there.

Now, while he's gone, I've got my middle daughter and her husband and son back living with us as of Jan. I get to enjoy them and especially my grandson every day now: kindergarten, watching him after school sometimes, playing with him often, and going to his baseball games. I'm making up for lost times when they didn't live near and it wasn't often or easy to see them.

My baby is a junior at Boston College. I cried a month ago when she said she didn't want to come home the summer. After I dried my tears (I never tell her), we made plans to go up to see her for a week at the end of the semester and move her into a summer time apartment. She'll work half days on campus and volunteer at a nearby hospital ... she's planning on becoming a doctor. We'll go back in the fall to see her again and move her into her campus apartment for her senior year.

Your children are growing and developing into quite interesting and exciting people of their own. Enjoy their growth, participate when you can, and celebrate their triumphs. It's better than sitting at home and crying.

Oh, did I mentioned that I'm out of work (lost my job over a year ago). So, I'm going to volunteer for the local chapter of the Navy League and I'm trying to start a new career writing books. Even I should continue growing (not just the children) and then sharing this with my kids. They enjoy helping me celebrate my successes!

Good luck

Please be careful when stating where and when ships are stationed.

My son is on a fast attack. He NEVER sends us anything. His cell phone service was suspended when he was on deployment. He NEVER sends us anything even when he is on dry land. I am green with envy. pmiralles - don't know the answer why rules are different. I'll check in with a few people and will delete the videos if necessary (which were approved by N4M admins). It the mean time, hope you have enjoyed this unique opportunity.
