My son (who is in ROTC now and will commission in May) has told me that you don't get "credit" in terms of payback while you are in school training for your job in the Navy. So, I'm assuming its 4 years after finishing sub school if the Navy only paid for undergraduate studies.

oh ok and the 2 1/2 yrs shes been doing training is that part of the 5 yr contract? blake was asking me that....blake told me he would be in school 3 yrs to get his degree and then training then whereever they put him> and he would have a 5 yr contract after he got out of college?

Whitney-Check out airwarriors.com it was the only website (i was recommend it by someone on here) that i could find real info about besides the STA-21 website. I'll fill you in on the Significant other side of things during his stay at NIS this summer.

JM.......This is what I know about graduate work from info. I have gathered from my son who is in NROTC at the moment (will commission in May). As I understand it, if the Navy pays for school then you are committed to serve additional years (not sure of the amount - whether it's an equal amount). If you pay for school, then he is not committed to serve more years. Don't know about if you can pay part or not. Hope this helps.

JM - you were asking about Master's Degree. there is a school in Monterey, CA - Naval Post Graduate School. The Navy (and other branches and other countries) send officers there to for post graduate work. (They also have other programs, but the Master's Programs are the largest.) My daughter finished her Master's Degree in Mechanical engineering last December. Have your son check with his detailer to see if going to school there would be a possibility. (The Navy pays for it.)
