The Box - how long does it take before you get it?

My son has been gone for over a week now to Great Lakes. I have been told that I will get a box with his clothes and other items that they ship back along with his contact information and address. I haven't gotten it yet and every day it's harder when I get home and see I haven't gotten it. I have letters ready for him, but have no idea where to send them. How long does it take to get 'The Box"?

I'm starting to panic that maybe it got lost or something.

hi Timmothysmom  i received my husbands box a little over a week from when he got there. you will not get his address at the same time. it will come in his PIR form letter which they send out the first week they are there. unfortunately my PIR form letter got lost in the mail. i called his recruiter two weeks after he got there and told him i hadn't received anything but his box. he gave me an address that i sent all my letters out to. later i found out that some recruiters dont check on their sailors so they sometimes give you the wrong address so make sure you ask him if it is the up to date address. i got my insurance papers three weeks after he left. and that following thursday i got his first letter :) it took 6 days to get here. then today i got his PIR form finally and i got a phone call :). so all n all people can give you a round about time that things happen but it really all depends on what day they are on, how their RDC's are and how good the mail is lol. i pray you get it soon!

My son left for boot camp on 6-5-12 and i just got a letter from him yesterday. He sent it out on the 18th of this month. So, it took about 2 weeks to get a letter. Hope u get to hear from him soon.

Hi TimmothysMom My son left for bootcamp from LAX on Tuesday 6/19 arrived GL that night, I got his box yesterday 6/22. It contained all his clothes and cell phone. It was a lot quicker than what I heard so I am happy to received it. I smelled his clothes, it made me feel better but miss him oh so much. I can't wait for the letter or the call. I worry about what he is going through, I told him the day he left that I believe in him and he wil do great and the tears I shed are happiness for him but also that I will miss him. The Navy and his fellow recruits will take care of our sons. Be patient you should receive his box soon.
