My daughter is in Div 924...anyone else?
  • NavyWifeLife

Ronda, my husband is in the same division! Have you got a letter get?

  • bethmac

Ronda my daughter is also in Div 924! I am anxiously waiting for my letter!

  • lemonelephant

Reasons to wait on The Form Letter before sending letters:

    1. The PAO at the RTC asks that loved ones wait on the form letter before mailing letters. See http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/fam_guide.html.

    2. The recruiter does not always give the right address and letters that do not have the correct address may be returned or may be delayed several weeks in getting to your recruit since it will not be a high priority for those in the mail room to look up the correct information.

    3. Even if you do have the correct information, your recruit will not receive letters that are mailed before receiving the form letter much quicker, if at all, than letters mailed after receiving the form letter because recruits do not receive mail until they are in their permanent ship and a Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained. The first Mail Call is on day 1-3 or 1-4 DOT.

    ***

Note: If it has been at least 2 calendar weeks since your recruit arrived at the RTC and you do not have a form letter, then you can call the recruiter and get the address and mail letters to your recruit, but be sure to double-check the address against those at http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.html or Ship/Division--How it Works.

I have let ellen and FTLW know that form letters have been received for the 04/29/2016 PIR date. Keep checking PIR 04/29/2016 TG 25 - 9 Divisions (163-170 and 925) and join when it is up.

  • ProudMama16

We still have not received the form letter. He started BC on 2/25/16. Is this the only way to find out the Division?
  • Mrents

Proud Mama16, you can contact the recruiter, that's how I found out my son's address after 14 days, although I finally received the form letter that same week.
  • Ronda

I would totally contact your recruiter. Ours was awesome and had all the correct info and address after my daughter left on the following Monday.
  • lemonelephant

ProudMama, yes, call the recruiter and then double-check the address against those at http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.html or Ship/Division--How it Works.

for all those with someone in bootcamp, it seems they let the phone calls go through the Friday prior to graduation Friday saying "I am now a US Navy Sailor", so mark it on your calendars.  They do their final tests the day prior on Thursday it seems (guessing).  This graduating on 4/15 should all be getting phone calls today as long as their unit isn't in trouble or anything.

It's not too early to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for..., and to start discussing some of the things there with your future Sailor such as how to handle bad news and who will be put on the Access List....

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3; make change 4 if your profile pic includes your future Sailor) and then go on to Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

  • lemonelephant

I have left info on some of your My Pages about your  future Sailor's rating (job/occupational specialty) or field and "A" School. If anyone else needs this info, leave a comment on my My Page with the rating or field and I will comment back on your My Page. I have info on every rating and field. I also have that info for the PACT programs.

Hi lemonelephant, decided to check to see how this group was doing. My Navy son went in Feb 2014 and is doing quite well. He's reupping too. So proud of him. Good luck to all that that leaving Feb 2017.
  • lemonelephant

encourager, it's good to see you.

  • blackbirdmom

Here we go, delivering our boy to MEPS today. He flies out in the morning. He's so excited, and I'm trying not to show tears in front of him yet.

  • NicksMom

blackbirdmom  We too are delivering our SR to the recruiter today. He also flies tomorrow. I think we are new best friends. Hugs!

  • blackbirdmom

Hugs to you as well. My step-father, retired Army and veteran of 2 wars, is driving him to the recruiter. The door just closed, and the tears have started. We will meet them at the recruiter's office, and then drive down to MEPS. You wouldn't happen to be going to Knoxville, would you? ;-)

  • NicksMom

blackbirdmom  We are coming from the Northeast. I'm sure we'll hook up on the Boot Camp Group and maybe PIR group. Stay strong!

  • MilitaryMom

New to the group.  Just stopped in to say hi!  My step-daughter will be leaving for boot in about a week.  Hope to connect with some folks in here.

We watched him leave yesterday, it was emotional and the tears are still coming today. but I know he's ready. He was able to text us until about 9 pm. His birth mother got "the call" about 1 am. For those whose future recruits have not left yet, it was a long "hurry up and wait" kind of day, but I'm glad I didn't miss a minute of it.

  • CherylG

Dropped my son off at hotel last night, leaves for BC today.
  • GT_Gal

My daughter left for boot camp today.
  • llbonn

Just got the call about 10 minutes ago from my son. He arrived safe and sound. Not going to lie. I have shed a few tears since he left for MEPS yesterday.

  • meadechef

@llbonn @GT_Gal,   My son left a year ago today to go to the hotel and left 2/9/16 to go to Boot Camp.  I can't believe it has already been 1 year.  He is doing great and is in C school and will have another C school after he graduates.

Good Luck to you both.  You are looking at PIR dates in April.

  • NicsNavyMom

Received "the call" last night about 7:15 pm our son arrived at boot camp.  Now wait for the box and letter.  Still emotional and miss him.  Can't help but be a worried mama.  But happy for him and looking forward to PIR.  It will be here before we know it, right??  And it gets better, right??  All of us newbie boot camp moms could use some assurance about now.

  • CherylG

Just got "the call", He's at RTC count down to PIR starts..
  • MamaDee

My son leaves on the 22nd and I cry at least once a day. I guess I'm just afraid of the unknown. He reassurres me he is fine. He says everything is going to be fine. I feel like I am the only one that feels this way. My husband says don't cry Be Proud of him. I am beyond Proud.

Time can be funny sometimes, I wrote all the time about once a day thinking how much I missed my Navy recruit. And then it was time to order tickets because I wasn't driving.

Son has been in since Feb 2014 and he's doing great. Keep posting. Lemonelephant was a treasure.
  • GinjahMom

My son left on Wednesday 2/7/17 and received his call about 10:30 that night that he had arrived. To NicsNavyMom: I too cry A LOT. It is getting better but I haven't been in his room other than to peek in. I am waiting fairly impatiently for "The Box" and "Form Letter" so that my letters can be mailed. Wishing others who are in the same state of mind, peace.
  • Jeep Mom Fl

Just realized today that this is the last day my son will drive me to work. We moved his senior yr in high school so we shared my truck/ now Jeep. We never bought him a vehicle knowing full well he was going into the Navy. Reality check this am, a little tearful. Will miss our mornings. So proud of him!
  • encourager

Hi DEP Navy moms, good luck with your Sailor. My Navy son has been in since 2014 and he loves it. He's reupping and we are traveling to see the ceremony in July. I love that our friend lemonelephant is guiding you as she guided this nervous Navy mom. God bless.
  • lemonelephant

encourager, that is great that you are able to see your Sailor's reenlistment.

  • encourager

Thanks lemonelephant I'm impressed with his determination. He has been well trained by Navy principles to keep seeking advancement.
  • lemonelephant

    :o)

  • llbonn

Received "the box" via FedEx today. Good thing the Navy is going to teach him how to fold his clothes! He arrived at RTC night of 7th, box shipped the 8th and took exactly a week to get to the west coast. Just like clock work.

  • CherylG

Mine son got there on the 8th west coast also hopefully box will cone tomorrow.
  • CherylG

FedEx just dropped off "the box" Thought I was going to be "ok" until I actually started to open it, then came the tears. I can hear him now "mom, its a bunch of dirty clothes what's wrong with you" lol
  • llbonn

@CherylG I had to laugh at your post. I felt the same way when I got the box. Never did I think I would be so happy to see his dirty clothes.

  • NicsNavyMom

Our son arrived at RTC on Feb. 7th, and we received "the box" on Monday, Feb. 13th.   Agree with CherylG and llbonn:    SO happy to see dirty clothes!  :)   Still waiting for letter and the PIR date.

  • sjm4mom

My son's ship out date was just moved up from mid March to next week, 02/22. He is super excited. I am a little nervous though! It is so sudden.
