My son picked his pictures up right after the PIR ceremony.  Others had their pictures mailed home and they were received before PIR.

Nancy (Ship 02/Division 926) Okay so my son will probably perform at todays PIR and the 11th also.  Wow I hope I can see some pictures.  He says he does Sticks?  I'm really not sure. He says he's been practicing the drums on Sunday's so I'm confused about what he's doing.  I was hoping to get some sneak pictures and be able to pick him out.  He says he's one of the taller guys (6'1) and he wears glasses so hopefully I can pick him out in a crowd.  Thanks for the info Nancy. Goodluck to your SR        - Yvonda - (ship02 Div 927)

  • Kim

while waiting for him to bring his pictures from his compartment, divs 926 and 927 matched by singing to cadence. what an awesome sight to see! could not take pics because they were outside, but 926 and 927 moms, your sailors looked amazing.

  • katdino

My daughter is Ship2 div 928 and I think she is performing in the pir on the 11th and 18th, she is in the choir and sticks? Pics would be wonderful :-)

  • pmons_ship02div929

Question... My SR is in 929 div. what is the difference in all the 900's?
Also, anybody out there from NJ? My SR is bunk mates with someone from there.
That it would be cool to connect with the parent. He speaks highly of him! Ship 02 div 929. Thanks!
  • Kim

900 Divisions are performance groups. They perform at Graduation.

  • Kim

I got the call my son is a sailor. Fri. Graduation :)

  • pmons_ship02div929

Kim, I knew they were performance group . But does each number represent a different kind of performance group.
  • Amanda (Ship2 DIV925)

926/927 Families- my Sailor's PIR was 5/4/2012.  We took lots of pics and they are now up on facebook.  Feel free to tag, share or save any you find of you Recruit.  I am hoping to post our PIR expeience this week.

    PIR 5/4/2012

  • pjay(ship04 div811)

Amanda---I am stalking all the divisions because I was looking for my Sailor in pictures. He was in Div 811 and he graduated 5/4/12. He had told me he would be in row 3 and 9 back. Well, they changed his position the day before PIR and he had no way to tell us so we were snapping pictures of someone we thought was our son! We could only see about half of his face. What a disappointment to find out after PIR that he was on the first row. Anyway, you have a picture of him coming through the doors at PIR and I was so excited to see it! I would really like to tag it and share it if you don't mind. Just send me a pm if it's okay. Thank you and congrats to you and your Sailor!

  • Amanda (Ship2 DIV925)

@pjay- yes, please tag any pics of your recruit.  I have some video footage of when the door opened and the divisions marching in.  I have not finished editing all of it to see what it contains. But I will let you know as soon as I do.

Nancy-glad you got a glimpse of your recruit.  I will let you know on the videos also.  Enjoy PIR!

  • Amanda (Ship2 DIV925)

@ Kim-There are different performance groups.  My son was in 925 which was a Triple Threat.  Band, Choir and Drill Team.  Those in the division who are not in one of those three help with the ceremony, seating , passing out programs etc.  I know one of the other kinds of 900 groups is sticks-flags.  Then I believe there is an honor guard group.  It is my understanding that each week a new different  group rotates in.  Hope this helps.

  • Kim

Amanda thank you for the info, I actually know all what you told me. I had one son go through boot camp. I live in Great Lakes and my husband is a chief, he is in damage control. My son will ring the bell when the admiral and all the other high ranked Sailors walk in. Congrats to you sailor.

  • Amanda (Ship2 DIV925)

Kim-Sorry that response was actually for pmons question.  That's what happens when I am trying to speed read the posts! LOL

  • katdino

My daughter 928 will perform in the choir and sticks? This Friday 5-11-12 if anyone snaps pics can you  please let me know :-) I would love to see her. I know at her own PIR she said she said she will be carrying in their Divisional Flag  that's at PIR 5-25

I got a call from her yesterday what joy that brought to my heart, an early Mothers Day Gift I call it :-) I am grateful, I will take what I can get!

Only 16 more days and I will see all her hard work pay off <3

  • katdino

And she will do Choir as well on 5-25 PIR

  • Kim

Nancy I can hardly wait anymore lol. one day and we get to hug our sailors.

  • mik0991

How long did it take for you to receive a letter. my SR is 932 PIR June 22, and the other divisions have written home (minus one) and is this because they are a busier division?

  • RACW(Ship02/Div932/PIR6/22)

mik0991: My son is 932 also. We talked very briefly the other day when he called with security clearance questions. He was not able to "chat" about anything. He did tell me though that their division IS receiving letters, but has not been able to write yet. They are kept very busy. So...find some comfort in knowing your sons and daughters are getting news from home.

  • katdino

It took 3 and half (Long) weeks for me to receive a letter from my  Daughter! Good luck to you :)

  • mik0991

Thank you! My fiance is in 932, and I can't wait to hear from him. Fingers crossed that it is this Thursday!

  • kristarice

My son is in Ship 02, Division 931.  We received our first phone call from him today.  It was WONDERFUL to hear his voice again.

  • kristarice

Where are all of you seeing these pictures?  I do not know where to look.  How do you get to see your SR?

  • katdino

  • kgirl

  • CaraM

I am still waiting on the form letter to come in the mail. It should come in the next couple of days though (fingers crossed)! But my fiance's recruiter gave me his address and he said he was ship 2 div 934.

  • katdino

Sticks is like flags its practicing without the flags :) My daughter also did sticks and choir :)

  • mik0991

    Thanks katdino!

  • Proudmama!

My son is on ship 2 division 934. He is a singer so does this mean he may sing with the choir at PIR? I wonder when the get to practice?
  • proudmom

I've talked to my daughter because they needed info on her brothers and sisters marriages etc for her security clearance, but I haven't gotten an actual letter from her yet. I know it takes time, but I can't wait! Her PIR date is 6/29, she carries the flag for Indiana and they are all going to be in white. I will be so excited to get a letter from her I will probably cry for joy!
  • JackieD

Gaffmom26 - here is the link to your PIR group.  Look in the Discussion Forum for a group specifically for division 931. http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir06152012

  • ronyienraynger

My hubby is on ship 02, DIV 935.  I want to know how that happened because he has never played an instrument.lolol

  • OmahaRudy

Just learned my son is ship 02, division 937. He just got to GL on May 29.

  • Teri4Navy

Hello, My daughter is in Division 934 and she told me she might be on facebook for graduation not only hers but others as well, does anyone know about this ? if so can you point me in the right direction? I miss my girl so much, when she first called we cried for the first 5 min...

  • MindyAndTaylorCTI

I'm thinking of auditioning for the band during bootcamp and was wondering if it is worth it. I've heard that they're more difficult, but I would like to get more info about it and I figure all you lovely ladies probably have gotten a lot of info out of your kids :)

  • RACW(Ship02/Div932/PIR6/22)

MindyandTaylor: Although my son does not play an instrument and does not sing, he was selected for the 900 division because of test scores, etc. He is very happy to be in that division. He says even though it is more work (practice time marching, etc.) he likes it because it makes the time go by so much faster. Something else to consider whether in the 900 division or not...he volunteered to be the Mail Petty Officer for his job in the division. He had to test for it, but was given the job. He picks up and delivers mail to the SRs. He loves it because he said it is the bright spot in everyone's day and he finds it uplifting. Besides...he always wanted to be mailman when he was little...ha!

  • MindyAndTaylorCTI

Thank you for that :) I just had been on the fence about whether or not to go for it. And I think the Mail Petty Officer sounds like a great job! My mom was latrine queen back in her bootcamp days!

  • RACW(Ship02/Div932/PIR6/22)

MindyandTaylor: Latrine Queen...haha! I was never in the Navy, but I feel like the Latrine Queen around my house. So cool that your mom was also in the military. Best of luck to you...and be strong!!!

  • mik0991

Hey! Do any of the veteran moms know when the 900 div goes through BS21? Is it before or after every other division or is it random?

  • GinaLuv/Michaelsmom/Ship2Div939

I just found out my son is in division 939? Any other with anyone in 939.
  • 2nukesmom

@GinaLuv/Michaelsmom/Ship 2Div939-My son is also on Ship 2 Division 939! I don't know what exactly he is doing in this Division. He does play the bass. I gave myself a chuckle imagining him dragging an upright bass across the field. I hope he is having fun!

  • GinaLuv/Michaelsmom/Ship2Div939

@2nukesmom, It is very likely your son will be playing the Bass.  That is what this Division is for.  My son has 4 years of NJROTC experience with Drill and Color Guard.  But it is also for musicians and singers.  They participate in programs before they graduate.  Like prior graduations.

  • 2nukesmom

@GinaLuv Wow! I had absolutely no idea of the extent of the Navy's music department! Very surprised! I thought the music consisted of horns and percussion. this ought to be very interesting to see. not to toot my son's horn, but he was always awrded for his musical skills. I really enjoyed watching him perform in jazz band! New experience!

I know we are suppose to get the I'M A SAILOR call a week before PIR, when does this call usually occur, on Monday's before PIR on Friday or over the weekend? Also what time do the Sailors usually fly to their A school the following day?
