Good morning everyone!! It is 4am here in Texas. About to wake up my daughter to dress her and head out to the airport. I am so excited about meeting all of you tonight at M&G. I pray ya'll have safe and enjoyable travels and we will be rocking out our pink scarfs and celebrate with our Sailors! HOOYAH!!!
well it's finally here everyone! cannot wait! we are leaving on a 1230 flight out of Providence RI. Should get to Midway around 230 pm...and off we go! Looking forward to the M/G tonite!
Talk to my son last night for about 30 minutes. They are all set for graduation on Friday and the words "Liberty Call"! Count down clock is 1 day 5 hours!! See all you lady's tonight at the Meet and Great!
Never thought that this day would arrive - but more important tomorrow!!! We leave CO after lunch and do not get into Chicago until at 6 - can't wait to see all the moms with the pink scarfs tomorrow --
2-18 Moms, Please take the time to post information in the appropriate discussions of the PIR Reference Information Group. You have such a wealth of knowledge that will help those waiting to go to PIR. Proud Mom, I posted your comments on the PIR Reference Comment Wall and will sort your information into the discussions this evening. If you have the time to add to those discussion files, that would be wonderful! Congratulations to your SR's and to all of you!
Congratulations to you and your SAILORS! You have all come a long way, from a bunch of scared, confused ladies, to a strong Navy family. I see my job here is done, so I take my leave of your group.
Feel free to send me a private message, or add me as a friend if you have a question I may be able to help with. Don't forget, there are groups for each school location (not usually for each school). Do stay in this group. All you have to do is change the name to something generic, meaningful for you, and fun! The group I joined for my son's boot camp experience still exists under a new name, and we still post regularly. Saturday is the one-year anniversary of our sailors' PIR last year, and we're having a virtual get-together to celebrate. The friendships made here can last for years, maybe even a lifetime.
So, goodbye, adios, aufwiedersehen, and maybe I will see you in the Japan group in the future.
I know most of you are probably traveling by now but...Hello all, my SR is in the PIR Group of 3-11-11 and is in the 917 Division, and what I have been told is that he might play at the PIR the week or up to two weeks before he graduates. If anyone happens to take pictures of this PIR and happens to snap a shot of the Band (he plays trumpet and is a tall red head (see photo) if you would send them to me I would be one happy Mama!!! Please, and thank you, with sugar on top LOL.
We're heeeere! We are waiting for our daughter to get here from Cali, so we won't make it to the Meet and Greet at the Ramada....aaaand I forgot my pink scarf : (
We are here also. Rented a car but will take the shuttle in the morning. Can not wait to see my girl tomorrow. We are at the Ramada so we will be at the meet and greet. Hope to see you all.
We are here at the Ramada...cannot wait until tomorrow...to be able to lay my eyes on my boy...boy oh boy oh boy will that just please my heart to no end!!! We will be attending the meet and greet...hope to see you all there.
Just settled in at SpringHill Suites. Everyone in their PJ's and snuggled down in their beds. I'm headed that way myself, just hope I can sleep tonight!
I hope you all get lots of sleep tonight. I know how hard it is to sleep when you are just so dang excited :-D Have a great time with your sailors tomorrow and Congrats to them all. Bravo Zulu. So happy the weather is a little better there this week than the last few weeks. And thanks again to so many of you for allowing me to make ribbons for you to wear. I hope you enjoy them and that they always bring back fond memories for you every time you look at them :-D Have a great weekend!!!! Lora
Flew in to Milwalkee, got rental car, straight shot to Waukegan, Turn left, Ramada Inn, meet and greet last nite, got there for the last 1/2 hour. Talked to some very nice Moms and Dads. Fell into bed exausted been up for 20 hours, plus two glasses of wine (courtesy of Ramada for staying there). Nice rooms, for future travelers, I found flying into Milwalkee, was excellent, lower price (AA charges less to fly to Ohare and then to Milwalkee, that just direct to Ohare///car rental for 2011 Sentra from H was $89 for three days. Ramada is nice and has indoor pool. I am using their business computer (did not bring laptop) So am wide awake and ready to go (room clock off by one hour lol) Will see all of ya there, I am the one with binoculars and the red/white/blue USA leather Jacket, come say hi, Hugs to all and thank you for helping me make it thru this with only a dozen boxes of tissue and and a ton of laughs.
Made it...so sorry did not get to the meet and greet. Wish everyone safe travels throughout this weekend. Can't wait to see my son and all the other Sailors! We all have made it thru this journey only to begin the next chapter. WAY TO GO!!
Got a little sleep, but I am just too excited!
We're here, but without my overcoat! It got left in the overhead compartment and forgotten in the rush when the first plane was late and we literally had to run to our next gate. Geez! I guess my excitement to see the Bobster will keep me warm :-)
What a great time at the meet and greet last night! Met itsmewendee, mountainmama, scrappy, lindaf, renick, and myboysmom with their families! Was so nice to put names with faces!!
Today's the day!! I'm SO excited and I rarely get excited! lol Family doesn't know what to do with me!
WOW, WOW, WOW. By now you can tell this morning I sat in awe. The ceremony was beautiful, the anticipation was more than I could stand. I cry with the music (I always have) but when 075 came through the door I really cried. As 078 came by I found my son. Tears of joy. They all have a right to be proud. My son looks wonderful and we are thrilled to be near him. We are waiting for him to move to A school and get his orders. We are hoping for an over night but still anything will thrill us. Husband and I came back to hotel. I was exhausted and needed a nap!
It was an honor to meet Sherri, Wendee, Cinda and Tasha last night. I know our men are going different directions but I will always remember your friendship and bond from N4M. Love you all.
Graduation was awesome!! So emotional seeing my son. It is just so nice relaxing in the hotel room. It was nice meeting you exxie!!! Hope everyone is enjoying their new Sailor. Have a safe trip home!!!
So happy im with my brother, by far the best experience
i wouldnt change it for nothing, he got overnight liberty and is staying
with us until monday the day we go back! (; Wer going to hangout in Chicago
tomorrow and have a good time, along with my mother and twin brothers!!
So Happyyyy ilove it! so proud of my brother and all Sailors!!
kathy: Although they are called PIR shuttles, they are all taxi vans. That is true of most all of the hotels. So sorry that this motel was not forthcoming with you....stinks. We stayed at Residence and had a very pleasant experience there. So sad to see others who had struggles just getting to PIR. But hope the awesomeness of PIR overshadowed it!
Isn't it wonderful to be the proud moms/wives of sailors? Congratulations! If I might make a suggestion, when you come down off your cloud. :) You might want to change the name of your group to an alumni group, so that you can all still stay in touch. It would also be a good idea to find your sailor's A school group to join as well. I have found that to be very helpful, since it's an entire new journey to start. :)
We met the Bobster at the USO Club at O'Hara. Very nice accomodations that they provide for our sailors! Dan and I both made a donation. I strongly suggest all parents donating.
This has been the most awesome weekend. See my son graduate and spending the weekend with him. We did a lot of catching up, saw a movie daily, fed him well and just enjoyed our time together. I am going to miss him but I truly know that he is doing what he wants to do and that makes me proud!
This the most amazing time.....We have had him since Friday and get to keep im until Monday night...Enjoying every second.....Even watching him sleep....He has matured...I'm impressed that he knows how to fold a t-shirt and put the toilet seat and lid down....LOL.....He's very proud.
Holly, I have to chuckle because Dad wants to fold his t-shirts like son. Seems like everything we try to do is so crowded and packed but we are loving this time. Son is going to A school for corpsman, how about yours?
