Blufire:  Holidays don't count either, but don't think you all have any for this group.

And, get into that exercise program!  I can tell you....I exercise 3 times a day...two of them fast walks with my big dogs (total of 3 miles) and an hour gym class...everyday!  It is a great stress reliever, I stay away from doctors, and I feel great!  So you get started, girl!

  • diannep

1DYBugs:  Yes, I am keeping a talley on the BStations dates messaged to either me or everyone.  So far, I only have the one date for the 2 divisions.  See, when I get one date for one division, I actually have a date for their brother division too!  So please keep messaging the dates as you all receive them...either to me or with the Send Message to Group prompt at the top of the page.

Not sure on mailing out with the extra writing days, but my son's letters always arrived on Thursdays so I'm thinking they can write on extra days, but maybe can't mail then?  But not sure on that.

    You're welcome, HvnlySno.

News is that these SEALS were part of Team 6 that killed BinLaden. Military will not confirm that yet; still notifying families.

Here is the link to the SEAL group on here if you would like to leave condolences:

Diannep - What divisions do you have dates for?  That was the "meat" of my quesiton.

  • diannep

I only have one date:  269/270

O.K. I have a question that I'm hoping someone can answer.  I got a letter from my SR today.  There was something strange about the envelope.  He has been mailing letters in the short envelopes, but this one was a long envelope.  It was postmarked August 1 and I just received it in the mail today.  Inside the envelope was the short envelope sealed up with the letter inside it, and there were stamps on both envelopes.  The outside envelope was all crumpled up.  That is not my question, but I just thought it was strange.  This is my question.  He said he was to have  his wisdom teeth out on Monday (Aug 1) and that that week was Hell week for his division.  He anticipated being SIQ for 1 day and LLD for one day.  He said that he heard that some of the events that week were mandatory and he was hoping that he would be able to make them up, but worst case scenario is that he gets asmoed back some time.  I understand that that means that he is put with another division that is not as far advanced in training as his division is.  This is my question--if he is asmoed, would he permanently stay in the new division?  If so, I would anticipate that his PIR date would change because 279 and 280 are the last 2 divisions in the 8/26 PIR, but I haven't heard anything yet.  Why would they wait to pull his wisdom teeth on such an important week for him and possibly set him back?  I think he is a little down because he says he won't be able to be promoted since he missed passing his initial PFA by one pushup and said one of the RDC's told him that one of the quickest ways for him to get promoted is to go into a war zone, so now he is thinking he wants to be a hospital corpsman-field medic.  I am not too thrilled about that, but I have to remember that this is his life and I  have to accept whatever decisions he makes.  If anyone knows anything about what might happen if he's asmoed, I would appreciate any information you have.

I received the questionnaire that I had sent my son (he liked it and said that everyone thought it was a neat idea).  To the question "describe your bunkmates" he answered: McG*** is from TX and he is really funny, Bu*** reminds me alot of Ben (his best friend, and trust me this is a compliment).  He also said he misses my home cooked meals (and picking on his sister) and that he can't wait to see the look on my face when he walks up to us.  That part made me smile and cry at the same time!  I have been telling him over and over that I can't wait to see him in his uniform, but I never gave thought to what that will be like from the SRs perspective.  He also said that the RDCs were now playing music during PT(I think he meant during PT) and that they all liked that.

Mom's if you think that looks like your SRs last name, please message me. I thought you'd want to know what my son said about them :)

  • caylex 9/279

I forgot to ask if anyone knows when 279 MIGHT (I know, no guarantee) be making their next phone call?  We got the three week call and I know about the "I'm a Sailor" call, but am really hoping for one in between.  Does anyone know if this usually happens?
  • Jana

From what I understand it is all up to the RDC's when and if another phone call is made--could be as a group or on an individual basis (like when they do good on a test or something), but that is just my perception from what I have read

  • caylex 9/279

I was hoping for a "general guideline" to an in between phone call.  I just like to stick by the phone, as we all do.  And our cell service is very bad where we live, so he will always call our land line first.
  • Jana

Yes, my cell phone has been by my side for several weeks now, and will continue to be,  but I just have a feeling that he will call when I'm at work and can't answer the phone!
  • diannep

Jana:  If he is on SIQ and LDuty for just 2 days, they will probably work with him to get it all done.  Many have that and are not asmoed from their PIR group.  They really do all that they can to keep the SRs in their division and training.  I wouldn't worry about it.  He would only be asmoed if he really had a hard time recovering (not likely) and had to go into RCU for a while.  Taking out wisdom teeth is so routine up there...don't think that will happen. They wouldn't interrupt his training to do this...so they are planning for him to continue.

Just so you all know, if an SR is asmoed, then once they are ready to rejoin training with a division, they will be put into a new PIR group with a division that is at the same point of training that the SR was when removed from the 1st division.  So they don't repeat any training nor miss any. This happened to my son...he was moved into the PIR group that was a week after his original one since he was asmoed for a week.

Don't know if you all now this, but they have PIRs just about every week.  Every now and then, they skip a week, but not often.

    The envelope thing is weird...Jana.

  • diannep

caylex: Jana is correct.  Calls are totally random.  They can be "scheduled" and taken away for something.  So unfortunately, it just means to be ready at any time.
  • caylex 9/279

Do you know if there is a limit as to how many people can get passes to hang out with our SRs at the airport?
  • diannep

That is up to the airlines.  We have heard that most grant 4.  Whether they will give more than that is up to them.  But they love their sailors and will do what they can to accommodate!

  • caylex 9/279

Thanks!  If we all go to the airport, there would 7 of us.
  • diannep

    Fingers crossed!
  • 1DYBUGs Mom/Dana - S9/D280

@ Diannep - Thank you.....first divisions, first assigned I guess.  That means it will all be over by the time I find out.  lol  My SR is in the last division, and I don't get letters until THURSDAY!!  It is such a long wait, but the mailman is SUPER awesome.  I run out to greet him every Saturday, and he either shakes his head (the usual) or nods from two houses down as soon as he sees me.

My neighbors just laugh at me, I have had them all writing to my SR.

  • Jana

I saw a post on the RTC facebook page today that said that due to the tragedy in Afghanistan and for security reasons that no one will be allowed in the base now except for the 4 people on the list.  Does anyone know if this is true?
  • diannep

Jana, this is what we are checking out.  Was this posted by RTC or someone on there?  I'm sure PAO will be flooded with calls about this on Monday.
  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

I have heard that as well but have not been able to confirm it. Usually when changed like this are made they would most likely have the sailors either write or call their family to let them know about the change. If it is true I don't think it would pertain to children who didn't have to be on the list. I have heard in the past that Sailors who had young children coming PIR would also have their 4 adult guests listed and then also add the names of those under 12 who were attending as well with a note of their ages. I will be sure and check with this weeks PIR group and see how things were different for them. And hopefully we will get more information on this tomorrow. It is the Navy and they can and do make changes all the time. There is one thing you can try (and I have seen the administrators on facebook suggest this). Write to your Sailor and ask him/her if he/she has a friend in their DIV who doesn't have 4 guests coming to PIR. And if so add your extra guests name to their list. Your recruit will have to send you the name of the person who adds them to their list. This is frowned upon but is done all the time. I believe I have seen Angie suggest this as well. But there is also the chance that they will get stricter with this as well.

balsue- send a private message to Diannep, she is still keeping up with the info and then sending the dates to members as she gets them. If you hear from your sailor when battlestations is for his/her DIV send that info to Diannep as well.
  • diannep

Sharon is correct on BattleStations.  They will start the week of 8/15.  Will private message the date to group that I have so far.
  • NewYoungNavyWife

My husband wrote me a letter letting me know when his Battlestations were. Once Diannep accepts my friends request I will pm her the date that he gave me.
  • 1DYBUGs Mom/Dana - S9/D280

    NewYoungNavyWife - What Div?

  • diannep

NewyoungNavyWife:  I didn't have a friend request from you(?) but just sent you one.
  • Nancy--> OS.son

Dianne just sent you the BS date for DIV 278.
  • diannep

    Got it, Blufire.  Thanks.

Ladies, I just sent out a GROUP MESSAGE with the dates I have for BattleStations.  This will come into your PERSONAL EMAIL, not your messages on N4Moms.  Please check that and let me know if you did not get it.  I have a tentative "full" schedule based on dates I have been given....please let me know if you hear of changes and I will correct. Thanks!

  • diannep

...give the email a few minutes to get there.  With over 100 people, it may take a while.  Mine just came in for it.
  • Sparkling

Thank you Diane, I got the email.  I'll let you know if my son teels me something different.
