Alie: Haven't sent it out yet. Probably will tomorrow after I give everyone time to update their EMAIL settings to receive it. Don't have a date confirmed yet for your division. Hoping that you all will start messaging more dates soon!
I haven't talked to my husband since the day he got to basic which was July 5th. I'm about ready to pull my hair out. I was also promised BAH (basic allowance for housing) so I could pay bills while he's gone, but I have not received any and have no access to my husbands new account. We have bills due in 5 days. I dont know what to do. Just ready for basic to be over.
NYNW- I can't believe you haven't talked to him at all. Didn't you get a call during the 3rd or 4th week? What about letters? I hope he at least writing you letters. I am not sure about BAH, I have heard that you don't get that until after they get to A-school. I think you get retroactive pay but not for a while. I hope you hear from him soon.
O.K. I have a question about the dress at PIR. My son's grandmother is driving from Indiana and is asking me all these questions---she is so excited...hasn't seen him since he was about 2 years old. What do most people wear at PIR? I'm assuming they dress up, but do most women wear dresses or are dress pants appropriate?
Ali that ring sounds amazing, gave me chills reading about its special meaning, I’m sure she is going to love it! Get ready for the tears…
Caylex Oh I bet he is going to be sooo exicted when he gets all of his stuff!
We just got a letter from our SR telling us to buy him the Iphone fully loaded then at the end of his letter he said never mind he heard the new I5 was about to come & wanted something cheaper to hold him over in the mean time. He also told me to pay for it out of his account (I’m on his account). Little does he know we have already bought him an android phone after doing a ton of research seemed like the best phone & plan (also had the largest data plan 5gb). His phone will also act as a modem for his netbook/tablet so he doesn’t have to pay for separate wi fi service.
Jana someone said as far as dressing for PIR you need to keep in mind you will be doing A LOT of walking (I have read it is about 3 city blocks from the parking lot to the PIR) also keep in mind what you want your pictures to look like when you are standing next to your new SAILOR in his dress whites…
NYNW I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t heard from your SR or that you don’t have access to his funds, maybe he can mail you a check to cover your expenses?? Or you can contact the public affairs office for assistance.
Jana, my mom and sister plan to wear dressy capris and a blouse, I think I'll get a new summer dress (but not too dressy). My hubby is wearing kahkis and a polo shirt. But I have read on here that some people wear jeans, so I think whatever you like is going to be fine. Just have the grandmother be comfortable :)
We were married before he even enlisted in the DEP program(If that alters anything) and we got BAH on his first paycheck. Just throwing that in there that yes, married couples do get BAH in Basic, and separation pay.
No I didn't get a call the 3rd or 4th week. Yes, he has written me 3 letters. I miss him so much and this is one of the hardest things I've ever had to go through. I hope to hear from him soon. If I don't get any money soon I won't be able to pay my car payment or go to his graduation. I haven't been getting BAH like I was promised. I have no way of talking to him about his pay since I can't actually talk to him.
I agree with PP, at least contact his recruiter to see if he can tell you anything. When I had an issue all my Husband's recruiter could tell me was to write to him so he could talk to his RDC to see if he could get paperwork from his end sent back out to me. Also, I would call the car loan place and whatever other bills are owed to explain the situation.
Also, I'm so sorry NYNW that you are having a difficult time getting this worked out, especially since its affecting your chances to go see your Husband's graduation. The only thing I can say to that is maybe ask family for a loan? And if there is no way of getting to him to see him, just plan a trip to go see him wherever his A-School is because being his wife and having a military ID you should be able to get on base and see him(at least thats what im hoping).
Good mail day today. We got TWO letters from our son (one dated 8/2 and the other 8/7). A few things I thought Div 279 might be interested in: they had live fire on Friday last week (son said he probably earned a ribbon for his "bad ass shooting skills"), they had their first PFA (he passed!), they just had drill inspection on Monday, 279 earned TWO FLAGS last week (their only two to date)!! On the 2nd they had Haws Pike (not sure, hard to read his writing sometimes, he is clearly not used to the all caps yet) - on a fake ship they had to park it, moor it to a pier and then take off. He said their RDC had them cussing at the other divisions (which he said made the exercise even more fun! lol)
Anyway, I just thought I'd share that they seem to be doing quite well :) What news have you heard lately??
Thanks for the information about 279. I'm hoping for a letter tomorrow, although I'm sure it will only be one. He is not much of a letter writer and he never dates them--I just have to guess that they were written on Sunday. Congratulations to your son on his live fire skills. I'm sure mine didn't do too well--he has never handled a gun in his life before now...lol...but I am anxious to see what information (if any) I get in his next letter
I now have 8 divisions' dates for BattleStations. Only need 5 more, ladies, and our schedule will be full. Please message me or the group when you get one. Be asking in your letters/phone calls.
See Buckley Road? This is the Main street you drive along that divides through RTC. There on the right of it (looking at the Picture) is in processing and some other training areas. There is a throughway that passes under Buckley Road from Camp Porter to Camp Moffet. When the Recruits march through it they have to sing the first stanza of "Anchors Away". They sing the second half going back.
When you are traveling along Buckley, the street you turn onto to get to the gate for PIR is OHIO. The Metra Station is right across the street from it.
Now, you see the purple building that marks Midway Hall? There is a green building and then a whole bunch of black gridlines. This is parking. This is where we parked for our PIR (Our son's PIR was 05/26/2011) In the picture it shows Graduation Parking all the way across the fileds. It is far! BUT we did not park there. I believe this is where they have parked in the past. IF there are any new veteran moms on here from very recent PIR's it would be great to know where they had you park.
In the blown up pic you can see the NEX and Photo Lab, Chapel etc. You are NOT allowed any further than the Chapel. I joked with my other sons to make a run for it past the Chapel...I told them that if they got caught though...the punishment is that they stick you in the newest TG and you have to go through BC to get out!
Back to the "graduation" parking lot. The one marked next to the Chapel. This was the area that I was allowed to drive to to return my Sailor on PIR day. All the other days I had to park in the Parking Structure near Midway Hall and WALK to the NEX to pick him up. I did not know this and the second day did not bring a jacket. A Sailor on watch had a VBG and said, "Aren't you cold?" "I guess I'm not now!" as there was nothing I could do about it! Good thing it IS a long brisk walk! He was on watch 12 hours later when I brought my Sailor back (he hadn't been there midday-[my Sailor had a 2 hour watch in the middle of his liberty :-( sucked]-so I guess he got a break...still). I said, "Still here, huh? Boring." Just a smile back! (I tell you ladies there is NOTHING like a man in uniform! Especially my OWN hubby...and he wears one on his civilian job too-woo hoo!)
I digress (the uniform thing!)...as you can see it is quite a walk for some of the Sailors to get back to their ships. They are not allowed to run or double time it...so that is why it is very important to get them back on time. Whatever time your Sailor says they would like to be back just go with it. Mine wanted to be back an hour before his actual report time...because 8 actually means 7:30 to some of the RDC's...so 7 was safe.
It is SO sad that we can't take pictures outside! The buildings are that beautiful red brick that makes me think "old military installation" the minute I see it. Naval Station GL is spread out so you see the buildings all over. The Commissary isn't even "on base" which was a new one for me! The Chapel is lovely. The fields are so green and there are flocks of Geese gobbling away all day. In between the fields are benches and I would have loved nothing better than to just sit and watch the DIV's marching and calling cadence. I did get to see that a little bit one morning. I also got to see a very active Ricky Heaven on Saturday after a Captain's Cup. (Wait I think it was Friday BS...lost now, especially with a Thursday PIR date)! Those recruits move fast. One dropped her cover (cap) and my son picked it up and tried to chase her down. They weaved in and out of recruits and by the time he caught up with her...they were back where they started!
Well...I kinda "girl chatted" my way through this...sorry! Hope there is SOME info in it!
NYNW-I am so sorry for your situation. THIS is why I love N4M though...the information from others and the sharing of it.
ALiePIr and TexasLiz- Great info. I wouldn't have thought about Legal ALie and it is good to know. Duh...it is after all a "working" base! Definitely talk to your creditors, a copy of his orders or contract might help for verification. Write your DH about going to legal...yes I know they have stress in BC and "don't need more" but I think in this case he would be more distressed knowing you are in a bind. IF he is allowed the time he should be able to add you to his Bank Account. If not he can mail a check home or transfer funds to yours (not sure how you have things set up).
When my Dh was in Iraq he had to go to legal to get a special power of attorney for his pay. He mailed it home. We had a general POW but sometimes it is no better than...toilet tissue-EXTREME sarcasm on my part! The explanation for that was that "it is SO powerful" that some institutions won't accept it alone. The "special" or specific ones have to be added on!...for each area...financial, real estate etc. Annoying...but I can see the point...I COULD be a disgruntled wife who wants to clean her poor husband out while he is gone...shocking but it HAS happened...so sad.
I would ask the institution that you are dealing with what they require. Verizon accepted the GPOW when I went in to change services or purchase items,BUT they wanted a current LES too. I kept everything in a three ring binder. Each LES and COPY (orginals in our safe-the freezer works too! Your fridge is fireproof! I put our wills in there when I traveled to GL for PIR so my neighbor could access them.) of POW had it's own plastic slip cover. I called it "my life". It was handy on MANY occassions!
As far as BAH and BAS, if one wife is getting it...you should be too, I would assume. Also the Fam-Sep.
Here is a group that a friend runs called : "Advice for new spouses". She is a nice young lady from my PIR group. They are all going through this together and have really been able to help each other out! Here is the link:
Good Luck and will be keeping you in my prayers. We are finishing up a deployment and I KNOW how frustrating paperwork can be! I am a reservist wife so I don't even have as much as you do. The frustration comes in from doing it at home. We have to use a CAC (his ID goes in it) card reader on the computer and for the longest time it would not accept it. Finally got new software and now the portal doc link is down for maintenance all the time. The easisest solution is a 45 min drive out to base...but like he wants to go there right now. Some days it makes me want to scream...some days I do!
NYNW If you are on facebook, there is a page U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, and they might be able to help or guide you. Just put the question on the main page, and you will more than likely get an answer of where to go. I would not put any names on it, just for security reasons. Hope that helps.
Lili, i just received a call from my aunt. They received a letter from our SR today. She was very brief, said they were doing good and what she meant by that was they are still ALIVE!! Hopefully we all will receive a letters tomorrow.
Lili, we received a call from our aunt today to say they received a letter from our SR. The letter was brief, stated they were doing well and what she meant by that was they are still ALIVE. Hopefully we will all receive letters tomorrow. We are in the southern states, so it seems to take 4 days for our letters to get here. Praying for letters!!!
Everyone - Thank you so much for your help. I have talked to his recruiter and all he says is, "write him a letter and tell him to talk to the people who control his pay." So thats not much help at all. I've sent tons of letters. I'm just so frustrated and idk why my name isn't on that account or why money isn't being put into our existing bank account down here. I just didn't expect things to be this way at all.
Lil, I am still wating too. What is going on with that division? They are either very busy w/ all the training or they are geting in trouble and not allowed to call or write. I really would like to know if she needs me to send her contacts to her. It sounds like many other SR's in the 900 divisions have already been allowed to have their contacts and make up sent to them.
I would go ahead and send the contacts if it was me personally. Just write on the outside of the package what it is (Contacts for PIR and pictures) If you wait too long she won't have them in time for pictures. They don't get in trouble for receiving these. They may get asked if the asked someone to send them and when they say no sir they usually say ahhhh, that Navy for Moms site again, lol
Dianne, hopefully we receive SR mail today too. I have asked her for her dates. I will let you know, if she tells us in her letter. I would rather ask her on the phone on Sunday, but who knows if they will get phone privileges??? Thanks for your updates!!
Thanks, trapier. I had received a date from another lady on here for 941, but I'm not sure it is correct because it made too many divisions going on that one night.
Just message me or the group when you hear something! Thanks!
Sandi, I was just messaged a tentative date for 275/276 so it would be great it you hear and can confirm that.
I do hope our SR's 941 are not getting in a lot of trouble. I am praying they are keeping them so busy that they don't have time to think about anything else, other than graduating. I am also praying for a phone call this week. We have not spoken to her one time in 7 weeks. :( We have missed her phone call 3 times!!!
Good news for Div 941! Letters should be coming soon if you haven't received them today. I got 3 letters today! My SR told me that they can write letters 3 times a week but can only mail them on Sundays. She also asked for her contacts, shampoo, bodywash, and makeup. I had already mailed the contacts today, so was relieved that she was requesting them because I didn't want to get her in trouble. She sounds great and said hell week was actually her best week there so far.
We got letters today too!! Our SR sounds so pumped. She said she did really well during Hell Week....all 5's for her inspections. She did not give the BS date, hopefully we will get that from her this weekend when she calls!! (Praying). I also will be keeping my phone close at hand. Hope everyone else received letters as well. I think i am as emotional now as i was when she left. I know it is just a matter of days before we can hug a Sailor.
Got my letter, too!!! Happy Momma!! :) Ship 07 DIV 271,
they, also, were tired, but did great on Hell Week! Earned 4 flags, now they need to keep them! Ha! :) I, too, can NOT wait until next week!!!! THE PHONECALL! yea!!!! :) Us moms will prob be up all night! Lol! Gotta love our SR sons & daughters! No greater love! :) Go Navy!!
Liberty is ‘time off’ from the daily routine. Graduating Sailors will be granted liberty to go off-base during the day with their families.
Graduating Sailors may not smoke, drive, or consume alcoholic beverages while on liberty.
Graduating Sailors must stay within a 50-mile radius of RTC.
Graduating Sailors must remain in their complete uniform while on liberty. If they are engaging in physical activity or swimming, they must be in authorized Navy issued workout gear.
Recruits reporting to A School at Training Support Center Great Lakes will detach from RTC on Friday. All other recruits will depart on Saturday. To get the most accurate information please contact your recruit.
Families may not enter the base after graduation and will need to meet graduating Sailors for liberty at the main RTC gate.
Graduating Sailors departing RTC for follow-on training the same day as graduation or in a duty status will be granted limited on-base liberty.
Graduating Sailors receive an in-depth liberty briefing prior to their graduation day.
Only 14 days everyone!!! :D I will tell you, this fiance is sooooo ready to see her Sailor! I will be so anxious to get THE CALL! Lol :) I am weird and when I go on a trip, I make checklist after checklist and pack wayyy to early. I have waited long enough for this trip to come, time to start my lists! haha :)
The good ting about it is that they have so much to do on Sundays that it doesn't leave much time for writing. So now they will have more time to write and sometimes they do get to mail letters out more than just one day. I got letters on 2 different day each of the last 2 weeks my Sailor was there. So maybe the RDC's will let them mail them out more as a reward. :-)
Thanks - that's good to know! I wasn't really complaining because I can just read them in order, but I thought it sounded odd to allow them to write more often but not mail them at the time.
I did get 2 letters on Wednesday :) One was dated 8/2 (took ten days to get to me instead of the usual 3) and the other was dated 8/7.
Just "bumped up" the FLAG discussion above that fireteam posted for those interested in what they can earn during Bootcamp. If it has gets lost in the discussions again, just hit VIEW ALL and scroll through for it. I believe it is on the last page.

Liberty is ‘time off’ from the daily routine. Graduating Sailors will be granted liberty to go off-base during the day with their families.

Hope everyone is having a good day.
I'm wishing for a phone call (279) :)
Seems strange to be able to write 3 times week but only mail out once. What is the point?? lol

Thanks - that's good to know! I wasn't really complaining because I can just read them in order, but I thought it sounded odd to allow them to write more often but not mail them at the time.
I did get 2 letters on Wednesday :) One was dated 8/2 (took ten days to get to me instead of the usual 3) and the other was dated 8/7.

is it normal to have "only" earned 2 flags when there is only two weeks left of BC?
