Does anyone know when the next Battlestations is? I know you can't post it here but send it to me privately on this site. Our son retested for his run today (we hope) and we have not got a call saying he failed again so we're going on the "no call is a good thing". We figure they will put him with another Div to go through Battlestations and try to keep his original graduation date. Maybe it's just wishful thinking.
  • trapier

Mann-Clann, it is not wishful thinking, it is faith.....he will make it!!! I am praying for y'all!

Congratulations to all the new Sailors. I am so excited for all of you. It has been an emotional day just thinking about your special call. I know i am going to be extremely emotional and joyful when i receive my call next week.

  • diannep

Just sent you the date, Mann-Clan.
  • BrendansParents

Thanks everyone who sent the info. We're still planning on flying in Thursday afternoon and going to PIR on the 26th. If you folks go to the meet and greet at the Ramada at 6pm Thur we hope to see you there.
  • rhonda121199 (Div 269)

    Trapier:  eloquently put!

Mann-Clan:  Faith can move mountains!  I believe he will make it too!! I will continue to pray for him...and can't wait to see the post that you got your "I'm a sailor" call!

My prayers are with you too..I know this is weighing heavy on your heart!  Hang in there!

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

  • caylex 9/279

Got a letter from my son today describing the gas chamber experience on Tuesday... YIKES

Continued prayers for our entire PIR group  :)

  • Navy_wife_in_training92

I got a random 5 minute phone call today! Still a couple days until THE CALL, but this one was still amazing! :) He sounds confident, which is a good thing! Can not wait for that phone call to hear those 3 little words! :))
Congrats to everyone that got the call today!!! I am so so glad that we are this close to being done!!! :D
  • sjtina

There was something I wish I thought to do at PIR. Look around and congratulate a sailor whose family was not able to make it. Its crazy when you go down on the floor to find your sailor, But I am sure there is someone near who has no one.
  • caylex 9/279

Oh, that is a wonderful idea sjtina, I will try to do that  :)
  • rhonda121199 (Div 269)

    Me too!!
  • Jana

    Me too!
  • HvnlySno (S11, DIV 276)

Oh you guys!  Would you all look for my SR!  I don't think anyone is coming from his family.  He & I decided to wait and have me & my kids fly out for a big vacation.  I have ask a couple wonderful ladies whos hubbies are in his div to take a picture of him for me and give him my love.  I wish I could be there...have wanted to, but he is right...is expensive & we can spend more time together when we see eachother at the end of training.  If anyone is willing to look for him private message me and I can give you info so you can find him.  :)
  • HvnlySno (S11, DIV 276)

My lanyard arrived today!!  Thank you thank you!!  Makes me a little sad since I can't wear it to PIR, but you better believe I'll be wearing all day at work on the 26th!!  LOL  I am going to show my pride for my Sailor!!
  • sjtina

hvnly I am sure someone would love to give your sailor a hug for you. Your right it was expensive. He knows he will see you soon.
  • HvnlySno (S11, DIV 276)

Wouldn't that be something!  People coming up to hug him & knowing that I sent them because I didn't want him to feel alone!  That makes me feel good!

  • SailorBrittysMom

I wll look for him & give him a hug for you you can call my cell anyti e to talk too 916-747-0764
  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Ladies...for the Sailors that aren't able to have anyone come out to PIR...ask your Sailor if they are buds with them and offer your hospitality if you like and take them with you for the day. Many do this!

  • caylex 9/279

I forgot to post a question yesterday. I was at a festival all day and should have done it before I left.  So today is a two-part question:

What does your SR like to do for fun, and do you share those same interests?

My son's favorite thing to do is go bass fishing. My husband is a professional bass fisherman, and our kids learned at a very young age. Alex loves to fish in tournaments (and is pretty good) just like his dad  :)  He also loves to hunt and watch movies.  As a family, we all enjoy those things (except I stink at fishing, I guess I just don't have the right DNA for it.)

  • rhonda121199 (Div 269)

My daughter is a competitive shooter. She holds a state and national title. She is also an incredible musician... Plays piano, violin and bass guitar. I sit in her room sometimes, close my eyes, and listen to the music in my mind... Never thought i'd miss all that "noise" coming from her bedroom. One of the things she wrote in a letter is how much she misses her music. I've found a piano store up there that is going to let us bring her in after graduation and play one of their pianos... She'll be so excited. I can't wait!!!
  • caylex 9/279

rhonda, that sounds wonderful!  We never know what we'll miss until we don't have it.
  • rhonda121199 (Div 269)

    That is so true!!
  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

Rhonda that is awesome, I wonder why she didn't volunteer to try out for the 900 DIV I bet she would have been great with all that talent.
  • rhonda121199 (Div 269)

Think 900 div is primarily brass and percussion.... She's a string player and pianist.
  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

But I bet she can sing as well with all that talent :-) she could have been in the choir maybe. But, I bet she is glad to not have had all the extra work on top of the normal bootcamp. I don't know how they get so much accomplished in 7 weeks lol.
  • diannep

A "treat" for you all this morning, courtesy of JoJo and NavyWife from PIR 8/12.  Thanks, Ladies!

    A peek into PIR:

    Enjoy!

  • diannep

caylex:  A "plus" to the gas chamber experience is that if they had any type of respiratory illness, it is usually gone afterwards!  :-)
  • diannep

great ideas, sjtina and fireteam. It is true that so many new sailors have no one there for them at PIR.  Many don't even have family.  So a hug and "congrats" will go a long way!  And, as fireteam said, Taking a sailor bud of your sailor's with you on PIR day is a wonderful idea and I have heard glowing reports from families who have done this, so ask your sailor if there is someone he/she would like to ask!
  • Navy_wife_in_training92

Dianne, that video had me crying like a baby! Lol I am so excited for next week, and so happy that I bought waterproof mascara yesterday! :)
  • Doreen(07/272)

Dianne-Thanks for sharing the video...I was crying my eyes out. I can't even imagine what next Friday will be like. To all the veteran moms that were a huge wealth of knowledge and support, and the new moms that shared my heart break, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. I never would have been able to survive this without all of you.
  • rhonda121199 (Div 269)

Oh my gosh! That video is a tear jerker! I'm sitting in the barber shop getting my son's hair cut...crying like a baby. This place is a full house and everyone been looking at me like i'm an idiot... LOL!!! Had to share what i was watching and why and they were all full of congrats!! Whew... Make sure you watch it at home ladies!! LOL!!
  • diannep

Can those of you in 279/280 pm me the last date your were told by your SR for BattleStations?  I have not been notified by anyone of a change from what I was originally told by some of you....but ironically, looks like a couple of divisions from the next PIR group would be going that same night.  Unusual to mix the PIR groups like that---although the next one is a Thurs PIR group which means they are pushed for time...there is room for 279/280 to go the night before.

So...if anyone gets phone calls or letters this weekend, please reconfirm dates by pm to me.  Thanks!  Remember, please do not post the date on this board...pm the group or me, please.  Thanks!

  • diannep

Yes, I was crying during the video too...had just put on my eye makeup...obviously was not waterproof!

I boohooed during the entire PIR for my son...quite embarrassing that I couldn't GET A GRIP!  HAPPY AND PROUD TEARS!  Just you wait and see!

For those of you worried that some divisions may not be "coming together" from what your SRs are saying...watch the video.  See what I mean?  Some of those divisions reported the same problem...does it look that way to you?  They look mighty fine to me!   The RDCs do a wonderful job!  HOOYAH!

  • SailorBrittysMom

Wow, that video was amazing! My son (20 yrs old) say why are you crying now?

I'm just so proud so excited so amazed that my little girl has really stuck it out she's said she was dedicated and now she proved it!

I can't wait for her phone call!
  • SailorBrittysMom

Caylex, we sponsor the pro bass tour! Do you guys come to calif? Last year we were there at the "Clear Lake fishing event"
  • trapier

I am on the phone with my SR....Div 941 won Captain's Cup!!! YAYYYY

I know this is a week early but this is for all who have someone they love graduating 8/26 congratulatons.

He was born to a family of Patriots on January 25, 1989

The family fought in all from the Revolutionary War.

Our Son is a proud child of generations gone by.

Impressed by the loss of many on September 2001 he heard his Country cry.

We taught him and showed him his heritage of the greats from Lafayette to     Washington coming from roots of Sicily and Scotland the Brave.

Therefore, our legacy to the United States we give to you all.  Our baby boy, our son who is a United States Sailor and he is standing tall.

We promise you he will do his best that is what is in his strive.  So, sleep well America our babies are at your side.

  • Jana

Woo hoo!! Got 2 envelopes from my SR today with 3 letters in them, 2 questionnaires and a card...that goofy kid...I had written him several weeks ago that I had broken my little toe and he sent me a get well card, but didn't sign it or write anything in it...Apparently he was delayed in getting his wisdom teeth out, but they took them out on the 12th.  Said he got caught up with his division on the 16th after being SIQ and LLD after getting his teeth taken out.  He says the RDC's are letting them run themselves now which puts them in a good mood (good enough for a phone call?) and they have some funny stories to tell.  He says that are really close to graduating as a battle efficiency division (whatever that is), that they are on the fence right now.  He also said the gas chamber was kind of cool.  He said he was lucky because he was in the first row.  From the questionnaires he said bootcamp was better than expected and that he needs to work on making his clothes perfectly folded and his bed not having wrinkles in it--I told him before he left he was going to have problems with those...lol...He said he wants me to send him a tv and that he is a little worried about the last test (I'm sure he did fine).  The funniest part was he said they got briefed on safe sex.  He also said he is working on his finances and started a thrift savings fund.  He sounds good...can't wait to see him on Friday!!
  • Jana

My daughter and I both watched the video and I cried and we both got goosebumps.  Can't wait until Friday!!
  • Debera1952 (SR Kyles Mom)

Will they post the winners of the Capt. Cup that was held today?

  • Navy_wife_in_training92

RTC will post the winners on Monday, they stopped monitoring their Facebook page on the weekends. :)
  • diannep

Jana:  Re:  your son being on the front row in the gas chamber.  A GREAT thing because he got out first.  Mine was on the last row...nervous wreck by the time he got up there after having to watch all of the others go ahead of him...HA!

Yes, please send him the tv...but only if it fits in a normal sized white envelope so as not to draw attention!  :-)

Sounds like he is doing great!  So glad!

You are correct, Sharon.  No all-female divisions up there...YET!

Congrats to the Captains Cup winners!

Should have posted this link earlier, but here is it ...tells you about Captains Cup...better late than never!
