This group is for the loved ones of the future Sailors of PIR 03/30/2012!

From your Group Creator proudmama:

I know we are all looking forward to graduation,  and very excited to finally watch our children and or family members become an Official United States, Navy Sailor. Until then, lets all share our experiences with each other. Our experiences today will help other other new moms and or family members  in the future. So lets set a good example, so that our SRs too can be proud of us. I look forward to this journey with each and everyone of you.  God bless you and all the SR's

Congrats to all the new " Sailors". I will be on a plane when my son should call. I hope  I get it!

  • carolyn19

I didn't get the " I 'm a sailor " call .  My son is in Div 920 and said he would call on the 26th.  We waited all last night and tonight but no call.  I guess unless we hear different we  will still plan on being there Friday.

Way to go FIFTEEN from division 098. I counted up the number of sailors in your family. Between me, your grandparents, great grandparents, uncles and cousins, you have 14 sailors that came before you... Twelve if you exclude Annapolis grads (and I'm half tempted to). You're the first female though, so in a sense, you're also Number One. Oh yeah, just so you'll know who this is, your jersey number is 33.

RDCs from 098.. Tip of the hat if you figure out which recruit this is and award her FIFTEEN mountain climbers for the accomplishment... Shucks... Award them to the whole division.

Congrats to all of you with Sailors!  Sharing in your joy and praying for safe travels to see your loved ones in a few days.

    Congratulations on Divisions 099, 100, 101, 102 NEW Sailors!

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

alismz - Thank you for sharing your grandpa t story...how wonderful.

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

alismz - Did you have specific questions about P-Cola? All I know is that Corry side is mostly for IT's and Cryptology I believe. The NAS side...Naval Air Station Pensacola is where Aviation goes to school. I know that Corry has all branches training there...NAS may also.

???Don't know if I answered you! Let me know!

  • alismz

thanks, had heard they are several miles from each other...just wanting to do lil research...we have a great group started of P-Cola's and i wanted to learn more about the NAVY than i ever dreamed possible...*wink*wink*
...had my first snicker bar in wks! and thought of you : )
  • CaptainFatso

Yeah alismz... That was a really cool story about your father in law. Who knows? That bible may find it's way into another seabag someday.
  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Both considered to be a part Naval Air Station Pensacola...they call Corry Station the "Corry" side and NAS is the other...but they are not directly connected to each other. My son said he went to NAS for a Change of Command ceremony and a couple of other times. There is a shuttle that takes you there.

Here is the Naval Air Station Pensacola Website. When you click "About" Corry Station comes up on the bottom.

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Oooo Snickers...now I'll always think of you when I eat one!

Pplllbbb...me too!...as far as knowing more! At least as far as BC goes. My Seabee is still "new" and a reservist so I am not inundated with the Navy life...we'll see. Have to learn about Army now as that is where my middle one wants to go!

  • ktrsb CVN-75

@ ILoveMySailor/Fiance-11/105 - Liberty after PIR depends on where your SR is going to "A" School.  If they are attending A school at Great Lakes, they start processing into A school almost immediately after PIR, so they will have to leave shortly after PIR to begin that process.  It can take up to 5 hours so you may or may not get much time on Friday with your SR.  All SRs neeed to be back in barracks Friday night.  However, if you can stay the weekend, you should get time with your SR on Saturday and Sunday, but not overnight.

If your SR is going somewhere else for A school, you will have the afternoon after PIR, but your SR will have to return to barracks that evening.  They will be transported by the Navy to the airport on Saturday, and you can meet them there and stay with them at the gate until their flight leaves.

  • ktrsb CVN-75

    @ ILoveMySailor/Fiance-11/105 - Correction - not SR, Sailor!

  • MSmom

Liberty is called at the end of the ceremony about 11 am. If you sailor is not staying in great lakes for a school they can go with you immediately. If they are staying in great lakes for a school you will have just a few minutes and then they will have to go across to the other base for Indoc. You can then pick them up around three pm at the other base.

  • SamsMom

He said the division passed with no hits. He mentioned some being asmo'd but I'm not clear if it was due to battlestation. He may call back. I will ask if he does. He hung up with me to call his girlfriend and dad.

My sailor said that he will be on "Spot 10" at graduation and he can't move from that spot until we get to him. What does that mean? Where exactly is he gonna be?

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

I thought I would share a pic I took today. I was watering my hanging baskets and this is what I found :-)

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

It is finally time to leave and head to PIR, thanks goodness right? I am so thankful to all of you for allowing me to get to know so many of you. I am happy to have "cyber" met you :-) Have a great time and please travel safely. Here are some tips for PIR.

If you are planning to drive to the base: don't line up in the far right lane the morning of PIR. That lane ends, so stay to the left of it and it will save you lots of wait time. If time allows check your route the day before PIR.

When you get into the PIR Hall take some practice shots with your digital camera. Change your settings until you get the best pictures possible with the lighting and environment you are in. Your pictures will come out much better and you will be glad you took the time to do it.

If you go to Gurnee Mills Mall keep track of the amount of time you have. That mall is huge and there are no pass through stores or hall ways to work as short cuts. It is Z shaped so if you start at one end you have to go back to where you started the same way you came. And, you don’t want to get your Sailor back to the base late.

  • eyeronics

Past PIR attendees- Do you know how much a cab would be to go from a nearby hotel to the base for PIR?

Future PIR atendees- Is anyone else planning on taking a cab? If you are.. do you happen to be staying at the Great Lakes Motel because I would like to share one!!

I would use the shuttle but it leaves at 6:15 and I would like to get there earlier than that!

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

eyeronics if you can find someone to share the cost I would reconsider the shuttle. If it leave at 6:15 and you can get on that early one you should be there plenty early enough. The gates don't open until 6;30 so no one gets in before that.

  • NavyMomInTraining

Anyone hear from Div 07/104?? If so did everyone pass?? No call yet, n I can't even sleep.. leaving from Delaware at 4am this morning ...
  • NavyMomInTraining

    I'm sorry Ship 07/div 104???
  • eyeronics

Lala and Cor... But people line up at the gate right? I wanna be first row..

  • Caryn321

Thanks for the tips Lala - safe travels to all. Can't wait to get there!
  • virginiagirl

I hate that I am a mile (if that) away from my Sailor and not with him :( so excited for tomorrow!!!
  • dawny64

Traveling today to see my Sailor at PIR tomorrow it's also his 20th birthday.  Proud Navy Mom.

  • alismz

FinALLy got a call confirming our SAILORs flight info... and we have to leave for home before then : (

Anyone going to O' Hare between 2am- 6am Mon??? HeLp!!! ...had hope to get her the cell & laptop...msg me por favor...
  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

Yeah they do line up to get in. If you are planning to take pics the first row may not be the best seat. We sat 6 rows up on the lower section and had great seats. We left our hotel at 6:30 am avoided the far right lane and was through the line, checked in and in our seats by 7:30. We had 13 divisions.

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

Congrats to all the new Sailors Bravo Zulu

  • eyeronics

Lala- Okay that's exactly what I wanted to hear! Thank you :)

  • eyeronics

Virginiagirl- Be happy that you are finally so close to him!

  • Teach

Congratulations to all the new Sailors and their families.  We will be there in just 2 more weeks.  If you take any good pictures of the chorus, I'd love a copy of them.  My SR is in 922 and 920, 921, and 922 are supposedly performing tomorrow.  There are other moms in the 4/13 group who would love pictures of the band, drums, and flags.  Thanks in advance if you are able to snap one for us!  We are still counting the days, but you are counting the hours!!!  HOOYAH!!

  • diannep

Hope all are having a good day!
