This group is for the loved ones of the future Sailors of PIR 03/30/2012!

From your Group Creator proudmama:

I know we are all looking forward to graduation,  and very excited to finally watch our children and or family members become an Official United States, Navy Sailor. Until then, lets all share our experiences with each other. Our experiences today will help other other new moms and or family members  in the future. So lets set a good example, so that our SRs too can be proud of us. I look forward to this journey with each and everyone of you.  God bless you and all the SR's

  • JackieD

We're in line wating for the gate to open at 6:30. So excited!!! It's going to be an amazing day :)
  • diannep

Hope shuttle riders are on their way now to RTC, and those driving are in the line by now.  Will take a while with so many divisions.  14 divisions is the largest PIR group I have seen since being on here for over 2 yrs!  It will be a PIR hall packed full of excited families and wonderful sailors!

Enjoy!  And remember those sailors who have no one there for them...they could use a hug and a congrats!  :-)

HOOYAH for the PIR 03/30/2012 group!

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

Hope you all have a wonderful time at PIR.

Weekend Scraps, Graphics and Comments for orkut, myspace

    with your brand new sailors!

  • virginiagirl

So excited to be here! :) However, maybe someone should have made an announcement not to dress as if you were going to the club... Wow.
  • diannep

virginiagirl:  Too funny!  Yep, every PIR has some dressed like that...my 25 yr old (at the time) son, who was with me, and who is not shocked by much...said, "OMG" as one strolled by (or should I say...strutted!) before PIR started.  I swear...I thought she would fall over and break her ankle...her heels were so tall.  The "people watching" part before PIR was one of our fav parts!  :-)  But happiness and joy was all around you, right?  We LOVED that...such a great time...can't wait to see the piks from this PIR group...know that you had a FULL HOUSE!

Enjoy the rest of the time with your sailors everyone!

And, would love to hear how you all felt about PIR?  Also, we N4Moms veterans (you are all part of this group now, by the way, so join us on the site to help the newbies in the PIR groups)...would love to know if we need to "correct" any of our info.  So please be sure to post on here if something has changed and we are giving out inappropriate info.  Most of our own sailors PIRed a long time ago...and we know there can be changes...so we depend on you all to let us know.  Any info you can post on here --when all settles down-- will be greatly appreciated!

    Today was an AMAZING day.

-Took the free shuttle at Great Lakes Motel at 6:15
-Got to RTC at 6:25 and waited in the cold windy rain... :)

-Seated by 7:20 in the second row!

-Pass in Review was great! Made me feel so proud of all the sailors who worked so hard the past 8 weeks.
-My sailor and I were out of the gates and back in the shuttle within 20 minutes of liberty being called!!!

Can't wait to spend the rest of the day tomorrow with him :)
Hope everyone else had a great day!!!!

Now I am just trying to plan how we are getting to downtown Chicago tomorrow... Anyone else planning on going? Wanna give us a ride?! *wink wink* :)

  • Nuke Mom

Great day even if we had to wait 4 hours to have liberty with my son, he was waiting on a medical test before he could get his orders.  Now to get some rest before we meet him at O'Hare at 01:00.  I could not of made it with out all the great info on here, Thanks

  • Teach

Anybody got pictures to share yet?  Specifically looking for one of the chorus...

  • cathie

We decided to drive to PIR today and the lines went quick.  We left our hotel at 6:30 am.  My husband dropped us off before entering the parking garage, we got into the walking line and it was a steady stream.  We were able to get great seats and my husband found us right away. Easy-peasy :)  PIR was amazing!

  • alismz

  • eyeronics

Yes I think I am going to take the train! And for anyone looking for pictures I posted a whole album on my facebook page!

  • diannep

Great piks, ladies!  Hope many of you are spending time with your sailors today---either at the airport or in GL!

  • alismz

...have a miracle to share, a bad news, good news, great news sort.

... bad news: our SAILOR's flight got changed to Mon and hubby needed to be to be back to work & daughter back to school by then.

...good news:my brother who lives in Wisc is driving a spare car to us so mom & nana can send off our SAILOR to P-Cola.

...great news: since i can drive home a day later, we are able to send off our SAILOR and delivery some "goods" to several others!!! fUn!

1st picture is my son and his girlfriend, the 2nd is the best shot we could get of Div. 100

  • eyeronics

    Great pictures Nuke Mom :)

  • CaptainFatso

Ok... We took our daughter to lunch. It was an odd mix of good old fashioned civility with the "Yes Ma'am" responses to the waitress and barbaric two fisted eating that involved thrusting the food into her mouth with both hands. At least I won't have to worry about her dating any time soon.

Oh yeah, we took pictures. I just noticed that she's standing at attention in each one of them.
  • dawny64

PIR was wonderful and i lost it soon as the barn doors opened. Can't sleep because i have to say goodbye again in a few hours but i enjoyed the wonderful weekend we got to share. And just fyi if your Sailor has A school at Great Lakes you can use the parking pass from PIR to get your car on base the whole weekend.  So we were able to drop him off at his ship instead of the gate.

  • diannep

dawny:  Thanks for the parking pass info for GL students!  I had thought that, but wasn't sure.  Now we can pass accurate info onto future groups!  Thanks!

Pictures are great, NukeMom.  Handsome couple!

CaptainFatso:  Too funny about the 2-fisted eating!

Congrats to all of the new sailors!

  • diannep

    alismz:  YAAAAAH!

  • cathie

All those sailors going to Pensacola got their picture taken with Joan Rivers. She went into the USO at Ohare and said she needed to take a picture with sailors.  here is the pic.  Too funny!  I hope I attached it right

    joey%20with%20Joan%20Rivers.jpg

  • cathie

Joan Rivers Tweet about the pic.  Hilarious!

  • diannep

So cute!  One group of sailors in a previous PIR group had theirs taken with Jamie Lee Curtis at the airport...never knew Jamie Lee was so tiny...or our sailors were just BIG!

  • SamsMom

@ TeacherMom...you are in luck.  Just uploaded our PIR pics and my hubby got one of the chorus.  Hope you can see your SR.

  • Freese71

Oh My!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much Sams mom...................... I SEE my SON........ Brought tears to my eyes, I think the neighborhood heard me scream..................LOL can wait till 4/13/12......

  • Teach

SamsMom...THANK YOU so much.  We can see our son.  You have made my day.  I can hardly type for the tears.
