Gotcha, Sherri.  Didn't even notice that....prayed because like you said, the Lord knows the details!  I know it is protocol to be put into CCU/ICU for possible heart attack victims immediately, no matter how serious...just in case.  Hoping that this is the case with your friend...that hers was very mild and she will recover quickly.  So glad that she is in a regular room!  YAH!

So glad that he will have family there....and praying hard for that momma to be there too!  :-)

  • WadesMoM

Ok friends, does anyone know when div 245 has their battlestations? I have heard 2 different days, and I would much rather be more certain!
    Please help!
  • diannep

WadesMom:  Message me the dates you have heard.  Hopefully I can help!

  • lkbmom245

diannep....I would like to know as well. Unfortunately I have not heard  any dates. Would it be right before PIR like a day or two or sometime this week?

  • lkbmom245

TO Bekah'sMom.. we have yet to receive a letter this week. Maybe tomorrow although since she called last week she probably is waiting for the BIG call after Battlestatiions ! We miss her voice and her letters.

  • WadesMoM

I have heard 2 different days, one this Friday, and Monday. How can we find out for sure?
  • Bekah'sMom

I am praying for the mom of the SR on SHIP 9 DIV 939. Power of Prayer works! I will pray everyday that she gets to see our fine sailors graduate!

  • diannep

    Good Morning ladies.

Ok, so we think that Div 241-244 may have done BattleStations last night.  They would be finishing up this morning.  Calls can start as early as 2 pm GL time today...but will continue for a good while.  Be checking their FBs too as some purchase computer time while waiting for the phones.

Please ask your new sailor if all in the division passed and post that...some sailors won't be able to call home due to "watch."  They can call later or another day.

Have phones handy because some very special calls are coming in today!  Don't leave tjpse phones for a second, and if at work, see if you can get special permission to accept this call!

  • diannep

"THOSE", not "tjpse"....hmmm....don't think that is a word in the English language!  :-)

  • diannep

    Good Morning Ladies!

  • SailorMom92 (DIV 244)

Are there any mom's of new sailors, were told they might be leaving for their A-schools the day after graduation, rather than early saturday morning.  If we can't talk about this on here, please send me a personal message.  thank you.

  • sam

My son is staying at GL. Said he has liberty on Sat.
  • diannep

Jmaries:  PIR is on Friday and they don't have any leave on PIR Day (just the GL A School sailors move over there after PIR).  Many will leave on Sat.  They will be bussed in the wee hours of the morning to wait for flights.  Sometimes they don't leave until Sunday, depending on flight availalibility.  That just happened in a recent group.

Sometimes the SRs/sailors are told by the RDCs that they will leave on PIR day, but it doesn't happen.  Maybe what they mean is that they only have that day with their family members and they assume they are leaving that night because they have to return to RTC.

At least....this hasn't happened before....so unless things have changed, thinking that Sat. and Sun. are departure days for those flying out.

  • T's Mom (Ship 07 DIV 241)

My son leaves in the early hours Sat morning for A school my question how can we get his things to him that he will need at A school? I was hoping to take a suitcase of clothes that he would need at A school can I do this? Also his phone I have read somewhere that they couldn't have their phone at A school is this true?

  • ellen0502

Sam, Since your son is staying in GL for A School, you should have about an hour after PIR on Friday with your son before he has to report back to his ship to move over to the base for A School. They pack up their things and then are taken by bus across the street to school.

Once he is all checked in he will get another liberty call, this comes anywhere from about 2:30 to 4:00ish and you will be able to go get him. He will probably have to be back and to his ship at 10pm.

Most likely he will also have liberty from approx 6am to 10pm both Sat and Sun. Your sailor will know for sure.

Now for Friday, I recommend that you wait at the visitors center for him to call, get there around 2:30ish. One of my best experiences waiting, was listening and watching all the groups coming to the gate for liberty. They march from their ships and it is quite a distance, and you can here them coming, listening to the cadence calls is great fun. The anticipation as to whether your sailor is in the group coming is almost as good as waiting for that door to open at PIR.

On Sat and Sun you must check him out of his ship. You will meet him at the gate, and then go back to his ship with him to check him out. If you have kept your gate pass to PIR you may be able to drive on to base back to his ship to check him out in the morning and back in at night, if you can't use it (so may variables on driving on to base) you will have to walk back to his ship with him. Be prepared it is a long walk.

Always allow plenty of time for your sailor to return, don't think that 15 minutes before liberty is over is enough, IT IS NOT. Second most important when you return him to base is you must go with him and check him back in.

  • sam

Thank you so much for your helpful advice.  We are staying at the Navy Lodge.  Does that make it easier to get him to and fro?  He said he has liberty on Sat. Unfortunately we have to leave early Sunday because I start teaching again on Monday.  I think this may be the longest week of my life!

  • ellen0502

It is very easy to get to base from the Navy Lodge, it is the same way you go to PIR except instead of turning into the gate for PIR you take the next street (I think it is Sheridan If I remember right.

The base is only about 2 miles from the Navy Lodge, not even one as the crow flies. At night if you listen close you can here them playing taps on base, kinda cool to hear.

  • sam

Thanks again.  It's good to have someone who's been there and done that to help out!

  • Christy_Ship07Div242

Good evening, everyone!  Anyone on that had graduation/PIR last couple of weeks that stayed at the Ramada Inn?  I read some pretty bad stories...Im debating canceling...although all thats available now are super expensive...would just like some feedback if anyone has any...

  • T's Mom (Ship 07 DIV 241)

Thanks Alicia:)happy to know they can have cell phone...I read that every A school was different some didn't allow cell phones I hope this isn't true.

  • diannep

Christy:  We have heard both good, bad, and average on the Ramada over the past two years.  They do have a MeetandGreet there.  The most recent comment I heard is that it was "clean" but not the greatest...and you can't walk around outside...nothing there.  But that was one person's experience.

Did you try Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn, Navy Lodge?  I know many of them may be full by now, but you could check.  Some stay in Libertyville also...nice hotels there.  I believe it is about 6-7 miles from RTC.

Do you have AAA?  You can use that discount too if hotels are sold out of Navy Grad discount.

  • Christy_Ship07Div242

Diannep:  Thanks so much for the info.  Navy Lodge is full.  I wish I had known about that option to stay sooner.  Marriott-Courtyard has only king suites left and we are paying for two rooms...came up to almost a thousand dollars to stay there.  Springhill is also booked.  Maybe it won't be too bad...crossing my fingers!
