When my brother went here, he brought me a tshirt thatsaid. "My brother survived boot camp training at Great Lakes IL" I wanted to get one similar. Can anyone help me? Is there a wrbsite? Can I order one from GLNTC? Can I have one made? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Congratulations to all Fridays Graduates! Thank you in advance.

  • TxMom

    Corinth, Texas

    My SR's PIR is 5/5. Ship 14, Division 143
  • ShipShape27

My son's PIR is April 21st. Ship 14 Div 128. I haven't received a phone call or letter (except for the "form" letter) yet, should I be concerned? I so would like to hear something, anything!
  • SandyB

I hadn't heard from my son for about 4 weeks.   My first phone call came on a Saturday around 5:00 pm.   It was like i won the lottery.   All i could do was cry because it was so good to hear his voice.

The first weeks they are busy from sun up to sun down and exhausted. Studying, drilling, marching.   Send him letters of encouragement.   I wrote my son every day.

When he graduates, is so well worth it.   Southwest Airlines has little to no change fee.

  • Navy Mom x3

Hi, I'm Rachael from Bulverde, north of San Antonio. 2 of my sons are in the Navy, 1 in BC right now with a PIR of 4/14. So excited! My middle son has been in for 5 1/2 years and has been stationed in Hawaii since he finished Nuke school. I'm super proud of both boys and can't wait to see where the Navy takes them.
  • mary

Congrats on your boys. My son has been in 5 1/2 years also. He is currently deployed. We are from Grand Prairie !!
  • WifeNMudder

Hello, I'm Melinda from Lewisville (between the D and the FW). My son is a senior in HS and has just completed MEPS and has been accepted into Nuke. He is due to ship out in January, however we were told that he'll probably be asked to go earlier. Very proud!

  • MarNavyMom

Welcome WifeNMudder! Yay!!! Thats awesome. We are some proud moms here.

  • JediGrey

Welcome WifeNMudder. I'm from Highland Village. My son graduated from FM Marcus some time ago and is currently at Norfolk. We are looking at the prospect of his first deployment in the very near future. You are in for quite a ride. The first year was rough, but now my LO is talking about it in terms of his life career. You will be amazed at the changes you will see..
  • 4GensOfSailors

Hello, I'm Trish from Montgomery (just north of Houston).  My son graduated BC last Friday (4/7) and is now in Pensacola, FL.  It has already been an amazing journey and still so much to come.  My "little boy" is now becoming a great young man and I couldn't be more proud!

  • Anita Devillier

Hello.  I'm Anita3 from Beaumont.  My son finished BC in (1/5) and been in Norfolk ever since.  A highlight of mine was getting to visit him before he deployed and taking a tour of the naval base/museum.  After he got back to Virginia, he was able to come back home to his brother's high school graduation and just recently to my dad's (retired navy) funeral in Louisiana.  My young man has grown up a lot in the past two years and the changes that I see in him have been great.

  • MarNavyMom

Hello Anita, Greetings from Humble, Texas. Welcome!

  • WifeNMudder

Thanks for the welcome MarNavyMom, JediGrey etc. I am excited to be a future Sailor's Mom.  (See, I'm learning the lingo! LOL) Everything is Navy, Navy, Navy in our home right now. My son is hoping for earlier DEP than is currently scheduled (Jan) and while I tell him that I'm hopeful too, I would be okay if it wasn't until Jan.  Just don't tell him I said that!

  • MarNavyMom

LOL! Right I wont tell him.  Mine was gone for Christmas and New Years but has been in Meridian Mississippi  for a few years now. He does get to come home more often than I thought he would. I am so thankful for that.

  • NavyFamily

Hello! I am on the West side of Houston.
My son is currently in Groton, CT at Sub School and then he will complete his A School there also. He has been in for 9 months. He originally was a NUKE but has since gone through reclassifying and is now in Groton. It has been a roller coaster ride so far :-)
My twin girls are planning to enlist this summer and do DEP for their Senior year just like their brother did. Very Very proud mom!!! We are a Navy Family ... my husband served in the Navy as well :-).
  • kimberlya

So did your son go in as damage control?

  • NavyFamily

Baby dukie's mama : Thanks, I will check out the FB page you recommended.
  • Mary Ellen

I am so new to this and am still shaking because my last baby has left the nest and I can't even talk to him.  He has been at boot camp for two weeks tomorrow.  We have 7 children and he is the first to take the military route.  I am afraid and proud all at the same time.  We live in the Hill Country in one of the smallest towns.  Jacob only had 17 in his graduating class.  It is good to find a place that you can express your concerns and proudest moments with others that have been through it.

  • kimberlya

Our kids left the same day!  Our son is the oldest of 4 and the first to leave the nest.  We are a new military family and we learn something new everyday!  Did you get the form letter?

  • Mary Ellen

Best Mother's Day gift ever!  I received two letters in this mornings mail.

  • Greek Mom

Texas Proud! New Braunfels area and Lake McQueeney area in Texas! Home of the Wurstfest and Schlitterbahn! My son is at Boot Camp right now and I could not be any more proud of him! Counting the days until PIR until we see him again!

  • Tx Mom of Far Away Nuke

Welcome to N4M Greek Mom!  We're glad to have you.

  • Quinton1

Proud Navy Mom.  Live in Sinton Texas but from Seguin Texas.  My son, after his 2nd year of college, decided the military could pay for the rest of his schooling.  He joined, and signed a 6 year contract.  He's an ET and has been in about a year and a half.  He leaves for Japan tomorrow after a 3 week long leave at home.  Needless to say, my anxiety level is off the charts!  Extremely

proud yet filled with some fear.  It amazes me how much The Navy has changed my 22 year old.  He's always been driven yet had a bit of a wild side.  Much like his Mother!  I'd love to have some support form other Texas Moms.

  • FirsttimeNavymom

Hi Quinton1!  My baby boy, well not really a baby but to me he is lol, just graduated A School and is awaiting orders/transfer. He's a GM.  Not sure yet where he will end of, he too signed a 6 year but hoping for the best.  I'm in La Porte, about 30 minutes south of Houston.  I had an aunt from Seguin not sure if she still is that's been some time ago. Anyway, yes, extremely proud is an understatement.  If there's you need, just holler!  Welcome aboard.

  • Texasmom77

I live in Burleson, which is about 30 minutes southwest for Fort Worth.  Been here all my life.  My daughter has been at boot camp about 3 weeks now, and Thursday has become my favorite day of the week.  We are beyond proud of her.  She has wanted to join the Navy since middle school.
