Still no letter, Feeling a little down... So many of you have received yours already! Daughter left on the 12th and called be early that night at 11:30. Hopefully it comes soon. I'm getting a little anxious, I know shes fine, I just want something. Miss her a lot and have a pile of letters and stuff to send as do many in my family. I haven't really dealt with her being at boot-camp again, I think the text messages asking if I have heard yet from friends and family might put me over the edge. :(

Moparmom, I'm in the same spot as you. My daughter arrived at BC on 6/12 and I got her box this last Monday. Keep telling myself the letter is coming, and "No News is Good News". I miss my baby girl so much! Not only is she discovering how strong she is, us moms are discovering how strong we are. Hopefully our letters will arrive soon.

My son left for boot camp on May 21, I couldn't wait to get "the I arrived phone call" and the box and form letter. Then all of sudden nothing for days and I was miserable. Then I got the call "Mom I'm in medical" it was the worst day for my SR, he was devastated, depressed and didn't want to be in the hospital, even pretended he was ok. I prayed and willed ,this kid back to health over the phone. I put away my tears and helped him realize how strong he really was and that all the test would come back negative and he would get to return. 4 days later he returned to camp. I say all this to say, YES we want a phone call, but I'm here to tell you NO phone call is better.
He told me the best time of day is mail call. He also told me that he really is too tired to write, All they want is our letters, it helps them cope. So keep writing and praying and hope that you never get the MEDICAL call.

Hi all! I recieved my first letter from my SR today. I have not been able to stop crying... I am so proud of him and happy he seems to be doing well.
He said has been given the P.O job of Starboard Watch and makes the calls while marching. What does this mean for him? He also said that if he does well with this job and passes the tests he has taken he can get promoted to an E3 and possibly get a letter of recommendation to get promoted to an E4. What does all of this mean?? where can I find out information on all of that??

Thank you for that Babybird98! I am glad that your guy is doing well minus the little scare. You make a really good point about us wanting a call but do we really? LOL. I hope that everyone continues to strive and make it to PIR :)

oh i know the first letter from her will take awhile, but i haven't received the form letter yet. So still in the air for when PIR is and all that. I will be honest, getting letters from my daughter may not be something i get a whole lot of, but being able to get her letters from myself and family is what i want more then anything. Its hard watching everybody else getting their From letter and knowing when PIR is and just having to continue to wait. I'm not good for not having things in line, my OCD gets the best of me and panic sets in. I'm trying to stay calm and know that no call and no news is good news. It means shes kicking ass, but still hard...
Fingers crossed for both of us NavyWildcat they they come tomorrow!!!

I feel your pain MoparMom- I get super irritated when someone says "oh have you heard from your daugher?" Like NO- she is at boot camp lol. The point is NOT to hear from them really expect for our form letters and FedEx boxes, letters when they can write, and their final "I am a Sailor" call. Hang in there though you'll get her form letter and box soon!!

@Sassysweet ... your recruit has additional responsibilities as Starboard Watch. Yes, the RDCs can advance a good performer to E-2, and potentially E-3. E-3 is rare though. While they can give him a good recruit evaluation and a recommendation for advancement, NO ONE makes E-4 out of boot camp. That is simply because E-4 is petty officer level, and must be attached to a rating learned through an A school. E-3 and below can be unrated. RDCs may advance up to 10% of their division. From E-1 to E-2, and for those who came in as an E-2, up to E-3.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but the website for Recruit Training Command is pretty informative. In the Family Guide, condensed and tailored for graduation. Website explains companies and the 900 series, families dos/don'ts for graduation and the different airports. Daughter's PIR is 4 August. Hope to see some of you.Cheers. http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/

Good morning ladies (and gents)!
Received my second letter from my son yesterday (div 221) and he sounded absolutely fantastic. It has been so wonderful to be able to "see" the change in him! He also had his wisdom teeth pulled last week, he's doing very well in PT (put on about 15-20lbs already!), got his E2 promotion, got 3rd class swimmer and Weapons P/O - zero idea what most of this means (if someone could enlighten me, that would be super!), but I'm very happy/proud with the tone of his letter. Hang in there mamas, there's light at the end of that tunnel!!
