Sleep pants or pajamas are okay if they only wear them in their room.

  • partyofseven

    Shanny,

Yes he can and I got mine one of those soft blankets that Phoenixmom is talking about. He loves it.  :)

I wouldn't give her the satisfaction and would go and get him new ones. But you do what you feel is the right thing. If you do go and get the clothes be nice!!! Lol

Thanks Phoenixmom and you to.   :)

  • Shanny

I guess I am annoyed because who does this?  Who seriously takes someone else's entire wardrobe?  Well I guess she left his work clothes and NRA shirts both things he probably is not going to want haha I am going to wait and explain to him I don't have those things. She must have them. I know she has all those sweatshirts. I can't figure out why she would take his wrestling team shirts or his class of 2020 shirt...  i get why she took the sweatshirts...  15-20 under armor and Nike sweatshirts...  thats a hell of a deal.

See. I'm trying to find anything else to think about besides PIR and all the issues today lol I think i will go make some soup. Or something. Going to make some cheesy potatoes to go with dinner i think. See. I need distractions today

  • Phoenixmom

Hi Mrs. Anti M, how are you doing? Hoping all is well over on your side? Have a Great day!

  • LadyBluefire

RedRover - it is so nice once they are at A school! Such a shift!

Phoenix - bless your little guy’s heart!

Shanny - I want you to get your hoody back at the very least! I’d go with you if I was closer, lol. Yummy cheesy potatoes!!!! From what I understand civvies in barracks only until they phase up - but they can phase to civvies pretty quick 2 weeks or so (at least for #1, 2&3 never got to wear civvies - I guess cause A  school was shortened to 4 weeks). I would have them delivered from Amazon.

So since the tracking info for the fly a flag program was submitted on the day after the 3rd flag I ordered was to be flown I thought I was going to get all of them today. I only got my daughter’s. They spelled her first name wrong and I verified I spelled it right when I ordered but what is interesting is on my confirmation screen her middle names were not listed yet they are on the certificate!

About 10 mins before that FedEx dropped off #3’s photos and I had just put it in the frame when the flag came, lol.

  • C'sMom

I just saw a Navy FB page called Navy Recruit Training Command Recruit Graduatiin (Great Lakes, IL).  Does anyone know anything about it? It says something about sending postcards to your recruit.  And it says you can sign up for email weekly updates on SR training and other group activities.

  • Shanny

LadyBluefire:  i would totally show up with my Navy Mom posse!  We'd get that stuff back!

  • LadyBluefire

C's mom - from what  I understand it as about as OPSEC as Sandboxx.
I joined that group because they did special graduation videos for the recruits when nothing was happening but it was pretty much a compilation of kudos boards and I had joined too late for there to have been any kudos for my SR at  the time. It is a pleasant FB group to be in.

  • VintageGal

    Shanny- count me in! Lol

LadyBlueFire- I’d like to know of this flag you speak of :)
  • Shoosh

Hello ladies!! Just want to share I got a letter today!! An actual letter, not the form letter. My girl sounds fantastic, I'm so relieved! And happy!! On that note, I'm assuming I should wait on the form letter for the address?

  • VintageGal

Shoosh- did she add it to the return address? If so that’s where you’ll mail it to
  • Shanny

Shoosh:  you have a personal letter!!  Write away!  I never got a form letter. Just personal letter!  I say go for it!  Congrats on the letter!!!

  • VintageGal

That’s great to hear! My phone wants to correct your name to whoosh lol
  • LadyBluefire

Shoosh - personal letters are more recent than form letters so would have a more accurate address!

  • LadyBluefire

Vintage - google fly a flag over the capitol. Your state rep puts in a request and the flag flies over the capitol. You get a certificate. You have to order at last a week out and no more than 6 weeks.

I ordered LARGE flags and most flag/certificates holder combo deals are for the 3x5 flag. And around $50 and my holder combo will be $150 per flag. The things you learn as you go, lol

  • Phoenixmom

Shanny that is great News. about the letter.

  • Northwoodsmom

Redrover, congratulations . Your son reminds me of my favorite children's book( The Little Engine that Could). Do happy for you and him.

Shanny and FlyEG14, praying you get those calls. They usually are beat tired but really hyped and relieved about passing and making that call.

    Katherine still praying.

PhoenixMom thank you for the beautiful prayer. I need to learn that too.

  • partyofseven

    Shanny,

    Count me in!!!

Shoosh,  You got a letter!! Whoo hoo that is awesome!!! Yes write away and send those letters off. A personal letter is so much better than the form letter and yes that address will be correct. whoo hoo. I am so glad she sounds great!!!

LdyBluefire- Yes it is. I like that group as well.  :) I will have to check into this flag flying and see what I found out for my state. Thanks so much for the tip.  :)

    Katharine- Any news today?

  • Phoenixmom

Whatever it is you Ladies are talking about being counted in, I might as well Join so count me in!

So I have had the Opportunity to have met a few Navy Moms since I have been on this site, well Next year I will be meeting up with another Navy Mom they call her BugsMom I have photos of her and her son on My Page. Her Son and My Bud are on the same Carrier, we call each other and we have a great friendship. Well we are planning a trip to SD next year when our boys come back from another deployment. I cant wait to meet this Navy Mom we have a lot in common and we can joke and laugh at silly things. I will let anyone know when we make our plans and when we will be down so in case anyone who may live in the area or  maybe you are in SD visiting we can hook up and Meet. I must say I have been very privileged to have met the Mothers that I have we have remained good friends Like my Mamabear in ABQ, her and  husband are Great People, cant wait to see them again soon I hope!

  • Shanny

Partyofseven:  I don’t know if Katharine is on today..  she posted this morning about having a concussion and all that comes with it. (The bad headaches and sensitivity to light I would imagine at the least)

PhoenixMom:  I am gathering my Navy Mom posse to go and get my SRs clothes back. Especially my sweatshirt!  I’m so not good with any confrontation so I figure I can take all of you with me :)

  • Shanny

My easy cheesy potatoes...  no one wants to have to put in lots of effort lol. They are really good though and I always get asked to bring them for pot lucks. Well I guess not anymore since SR graduated and no more sports potlucks!

  • Northwoodsmom

PhoenixMom, I agree with the great connections you develope in N4M'S, especially in BC. I remain good friends with NolaMom. Ours was the first PIR to not allow parents and family there. We leaned on each other through are disappointment. We had all of our plane tickets ,motel reservations made and then that Monday everything got cancelled. It wAs like someone tore our hearts from our chest. I don't know what I would of done with out her.  This is a great place to make life long friends that share in the same ups and downs that go with Navy Life.

  • Phoenixmom

Yes I agree with you NorthWoodsMom totally, although PartyofSeven lives down the road from me we still haven't Met yet But I am working on it!

Shanny Oh I will lead I have no problem with putting my foot down and telling it like it is. The other day it was hilarious, there was a police chase on the freeway, so My daughter Briana calls my Daughter Nicole and lets her know what is happening and my daughter Nicole had said " Oh it must be mom on the loose" you know how she gets when someone  pisses her off" LOL it was an inside joke between them two but I so happened to find out! LOL!

  • Shanny

Oh PhoenixMom I love it!!!!  I can confront people by text... my messenger or email or even in a letter. But I’m person, I worry about hurting feelings and I wilt I guess. I wish I had an ounce of my SRs assertive tell it like it is and not care about hurting someone’s feelings.

  • VintageGal

Pheonixmom- that’s so funny about your daughters and they’re inside joke. My sister and I do the same thing your mom laughs about it. And she’ll say things like “oh come on I don’t do that”

I’m so thankful for all of you ladies.

The only other person that really understands this whole process and who enjoys talking about it is the PE teacher that I work with. I absolutely love it. She was in the Navy and she shares her stories With me all the time about her funny and not so funny Boot Camp experiences. And then she got super lucky she was a dental hygienist in San Diego practically throughout her whole Navy career.

shanny - I will be making those potatoes... thank you!

Ladybluefire- I’ll look into that. That sounds really incredible!

  • VintageGal

Shanny- I would be matter of fact and act like nothing’s wrong “hi daisy may, I need to pick SR’s clothes to send to him. He’ll need them for school. If you’re busy you can leave it in a bag outside and I’ll pick it up. Thanks!”
Literally act like nothings wrong and she’ll probably be compliant. Gerrrr
  • Shanny

VintageGal:  I went to send a message yesterday and she had deleted me on social media. She never gave me her number. I may have to just have my SR message her when he gets his phone back and tell her to return his stuff. She doesn’t have to speak to me. I would actually prefer that she doesn’t. She can bag it up (she even took his wrestling equipment bag) and leave it on our back deck or front steps.

  • VintageGal

Shanny- Wow, what the heck - do you know a mutual friend of theirs?
  • Shoosh

Thanks for the validation that the address on her letter should be good. I have 9 envelopes to address lol!!

VintageGal I've been called worse hahaha!

Shanny I don't think I've read back through your whole story, but I'm sorry for what this person is doing to you. Sometimes I just really don't understand people. She will get hers...

  • LadyBluefire

Shanny - those look naughty to eat, lol. I try and be a good girl and eat clean so I will have to see what I can do cause they sound yummy!
I have told my hubby the situation as it has unfolded and he said her son got into this mess he needs to get out of it, lol. He needs to be assertive and ask for his stuff back. Or tough noogies - but I told him you need your hoody back! His reply - well her son owes her a hoody!

Vintage gal - I think it is too - just remember go smaller on the flag lol if you want an inexpensive display case! I only found out about the flag after my 1st 2 went in so I picked A school grad date and reason for my daughter and birthday for my #2 SR but grad RTC as reason. My 4ths PIR is 2 days after he turns 18 and I asked PIR or BDay knowing PIR can change but he said PIR.

    Northwoodsmom -  I think about NOLAmom a lot...tell her I said hi.

Phoenix- you are too funny not knowing what it is but wanting to join in the fray anyway!

  • Phoenixmom

LadyBlueFire I need some excitement! LOL!

Mrs. Shanny with all due respect I wouldn't even bother the girlfriend, I would just go and purchase new things and send, but for my sweatshirt I would ask for it back. I hope you can figure out what to do, sounds like she may be a control freak to me, let her know it is 2020 and we left that scene a long time ago! she must of gotten stuck somewhere ? LOL!

  • Shanny

LadyBluefire:  i think that issue is that he thought they were still together. Saturday when he finally called, he said he sent a nasty letter. So maybe he told her about the clothes. I didn't ask for details because there wasn't much time to talk and he wanted to ask questions and tell me about BC. I think he will tell her exactly what he thinks when he gets a chance to do it. Man his last girlfriend, before this one stole one of my hoodies too. Its a good thing I don't really like hoodies because I'm down to only one and no one wants to steal my Michigan State Spartans hoodie. But that girl he showed up at her work and demanded it back. Then he showed up at her house and she claimed she didn't have it. And her dad was not helpful at all. I like guys hoodies if I wear them. I prefer big and baggy in my hoodies.

No call so far. Thinking tomorrow maybe...  still burning my blue lights

  • Shanny

I am not about harassing an 18 year old. And I will let him handle the issue. He knew she was taking some things. So it is his fault for letting her.

  • Shanny

I know I sound a bit on the crazy side...  i am annoyed-yes. I have been since she took the stuff. Then I got annoyed all over again when I went to find the shirt he asked for and saw it was gone too. On the low side.. 15 sweatshirts at $50 a shirt is a lot of money. That's not including the t-shirts (and she took all the under armor and Nike of those too)  oh well. His issue to deal with. I didn't add a note to the letter I  forwarded from him. I just stuck it in another envelope and sent it to the address I had from a graduation announcement of hers. I talk a mean game but I know I won't do anything about it

  • partyofseven

    Phoenixmom-

You had me smiling and cracking up. YES I hear you and yes we will get together!!! And you know that SD is not to far from Twenty Nine Palms. Something to think about.  :)

I loved that inside story with your girls sounds like my boys. there goes mom again!!!! Lol

    Shanny,

Thank you. I had forgotten that she had said that. Thanks for reminding me. Also, I copied your cheesy recipe. We love potatoes but I have cut way down on them so that is good. But it sounds really yummy!!!!

This girl is acting all guilty. She knows she shouldn't have taken those clothes and why delete you off of social media. I don't know is she cray cray or what? Good lord!!!

You and your son have got time to figure it out that's for sure.

Northwoodsmom- That is awesome. Please tell Nolamom hey for me. How is she doing?

LadyBluefire- I'll remember that to. How are you today?

  • VintageGal

Shanny- it’s all good girl. We don’t want you stressed out. We’re not bothered by it we all need a little excitement this afternoon. I don’t think we mind getting riled up a bit LOL. Burn those blue lights mama!!
  • Shanny

Partyofseven:  i think i will tell him that he can message her and tell her to drop off his stuff or he can give me permission to use his bank account to order replacements because I am not buying that stuff twice. He will ask for it back

  • Phoenixmom

So Last Night My Daughter went down to the cemetary Nicole  the Oldest she is so into Halloween she decorates  her house and all. well last night I get a picture and she went and put ghost lights on Dads Plot with a few pumpkins, light are on a timer. LOL! knowing my Husband he would give this look to her OMG! and I bet he was doing just that! LOL! she always liked teasing him and doing stuff like that my poor Hubby he is the only one in the Cemetery with ghost lights! LOL!

  • Shanny

PhoenixMom I love that!!!  Still teasing her dad. And he would have probably loved it with a bit of an eye roll I am sure. Now I want to go and get some solar lights for my grandma’s!  I always change the flags around now, put up a fall wreath and put up a new solar light. The flags because it was always important to her that my grampa and uncle (died in Vietnam) had fresh flags. Flowers always had to include snapdragons (her favorite) and pansies(my grampa’s favorites). When she passed away a few years ago, I started finding random pansies in our yard. Just one growing up through landscaping rocks. I had one that survived winter in Michigan last year. Found it in the late fall growing in some lava rocks. I took pictures each month through the winter. It survived until I noticed last month it was gone. But a new baby one had grown about a foot away

  • Phoenixmom

This Daughter of mine had a way of teasing her dad, we have a video from this past Christmas we usually stay at her house and make cookies and treat Christmas Eve well she likes singing Christmas songs and she started singing and trying to get my husband to sing and he would just look at  her and give her this look, Hilarious! so I started singing a song and he started singing with me and he would look at her  with these eyes This video is to die for!

that pansy was a sign, and now it has began all over again wow! that is amazing! I enjoy decorating the plots, so many things you can do.

  • Shanny

    This is the new one...

  • Phoenixmom

OOOOOOOHHHHHH! how Beautiful!, Your Grandpa's spirit is still around that is a blessing!

  • LadyBluefire

Shanny  - aye yi yi! Hide your hoodies whenever a girl comes over, lol! You have done your mother's due diligence and now he can deal with it, :) We have a no hoodie rule at our house so when the older 2 moved out they stocked up on hoodies.

Phoenix - that is too funny about the plot and Halloween decos.

Party - I could be better but am so glad to finally get my son's photos. I deep cleaned the secondary master suite bathroom today, my master suite bedroom and bathroom and tomorrow I will tackle the secondary master suite bedroom. While I was up I did dinner prep and my back was just about done when I finished up.

Just always expecting the phone to ring for #4 - hubby thinks things must be kosher as no news is good news. But one never knows.

  • partyofseven

    Shanny,

No worries. That sounds good and then he can take care of it. She went over the top of it anyways with taking all his clothes. I'm sure your son has learned his lesson.  :)

Keep burning those blue lights. I love pansies and I love that they still grow. Somebody is looking out for you and letting you know that they are there.

My brother was a bird watcher so birds were his favorite especially Cardinals.

LadyBluefire- This is true, no news is good news. Maybe tomorrow the calls will come. Can you imagine I sure they are swamped over there with all these divisions going thru.

Ah there photos are wonderful aren't they? I was so happy when I got mine.

  • VintageGal

Shanny- wow that is really special. Now every time I see a pansy I’ll think of you :)

  • VintageGal

I can’t wait to get my sons photo! That’s definitely something to look forward to!

  • LadyBluefire

Party - if I get a call right now it is BAD news so I pray I don;t get a call til maybe next weekend.

All my kids photos are so different - #1 Dress Blues, #2 NWU sleeves down, #3 NWU sleeves up and #4 might be in his whites. As my daughter said "Not very UNIFORM" - and she was proud of her dad type joke.
