Mater Nauta, Katharine, DsMom2020 - Bravo Zulu to your sailors!  That’s great to hear.

  • belovedbyHim

Hi all, Sorry for being MIA the last few days. Monday evening I had a cyst rupture on my Ovary and I spent the day laid out trying to recover. Sitting was a challenge so no computer yesterday.  Today I'm up and moving but still sore.

C'sMom2020-- To answer your question, We share generalities but try and refrain from specifics. So Everyone knows BS21 is the last week of BC and usually before PIR but not the specific day for specific Divisions or Sailors. We may know when ships leave port but we never list exactly where they are going until after they get there. We Know your SR has BS21 Coming up soon but on the Main page we do not mention what day. In your PIR group it’s a closed group so there you can speak about it. It’s training for OPSEC and PERSEC in the fleet.

Brandonsmom-- I see several moms have already given you the lowdown.  No News is Good News!! It's hard but it means they are still on track.

Katharine-- All the rotten ones, right? LOL

NewMilMom-- Did you see my blog? First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition

The Expected timeline will look like this
Day 0 -- Travel, Arrival and "I'm Here" scripted phone call
Day 1-14 -- ROM (Restriction of Movement/ Quarantine-- Lots of studying and waiting)
Day 15-21 Arrive Onboard RTC and begin P-days (P-days- Initial Processing Days) including 2 days of P-hold (Weekend) Do not expect a call at this point but be grateful if one comes!!
Day 21-- Complete P days. (Initial PFT & Run)
Day 22-- Begin training and mail form letter out. Look for it to arrive around 1-2 weeks later)

First phone call home is usually another week to 10 days following this but it is an earned call. No call is still Good News.
All of this is assuming no exposure to COVID with additional ROM
Training typically occurs Monday - Friday but we have heard rumors that Saturday’s are now training days as well.
Normal PIR will be 8 Fridays after departure from Home but it can be less by 1 but it can be extended by ???? (lots!!) It just depends on how many times they get caught in the “Ring of Fire” but do not get COVID. IF they get COVID, Once they are recovered they will not be removed from training again even if they are in the “Ring of Fire”. (so there is that small silver lining if kids get sick)

Correnza-- Not sure how to answer your question? Many folks have heard. Are you expecting your sailor call or are you still in the great silence? When did your SR leave for BC?

MaterNauta, Katharine, DsMom2020 -- Congratulations!! WHOOO HOOOOO!!!! You Made it!!!!! BZ to your Newly Minted Sailors!!!! May they all get their Phones back soon and may you enjoy a LOOOOONG Sailor phone call to get all caught up!!!

  • MaterNauta

Beloved Boot Camp Moms and Loved Ones,

Now, I can finally sit down and write. This was the first place that I shared that we had a SAILOR. I wanted to show my deep gratitude to this group since it has been an indescribable resource during such trying times. I am DEEPLY honored to share such good news and privilege of being the mother of a United States Navy Sailor with Katharine and D's Mom.

I am deeply thankful to one of our more experienced moms (you know who you are) who reached out to me. We all deal with our situations differently. I am more of a private kind of person. Words cannot express how much peace I knew I could ask questions to this particular mom.

    For the new Moms:

    • No news is really GOOD NEWS.
    • No musical cards (and the like: glitter etc.). :-)
    • As challenging as reading all the information in this website/group is, PLEASE read it.
    • Reach out with any questions in this group.
    • If you have "Navy Allergies" (tears), this is the perfect place to share them. I chose to share them with my husband, my best friend from college, my best friend from church, and that one mom from this group whom I felt comfortable with.
    • You know the SR you have raised, and the information you are getting from him/her.
    • PLEASE keep OPSEC/PERSEC in mind in all your communications.

For the moms that are still on this journey:

    • Please know that I have read every post and prayed for every SR, their superiors, and every family.
    • Every time I read of an SR being sent to ROM, or set back, or no communication, my heart literally was torn apart. All I could do is offer my silent prayers and lit my blue candles...
    • I know God is always providing for our highest good. In His unfathomable plan, everything is divinely, mercifully, and lovingly allowed.

Now I can proceed to put together my SAILOR's anchor and the ribbons we'll wear on Sunday (when the rest of his siblings and us will celebrate).

    Sermper Fortis (Always Strong)

    Semper Gumby (Always Flexible)

    Hooyah!!!

  • VintageGal

    MaterNauta-
I’m so happy for you, your SAILOR!, and your family. :) thanks for joining us on this journey and God bless you all during your SAILOR’S career.
Sorry, it’s just so cool to say SAILOR! It doesn’t get old!
Thank you for your kind words, encouraging us to stay Semper Gumby, and for your prayers during these last couple months.
    Take care!
    HOOYAH!!
  • VintageGal

Belovedbyhim- Good evening, I’m so sorry that you had to endure that. I hope that you to have a speedy recovery.
  • VintageGal

Good evening, now that I have a little bit of time I wanted to tell you about what happened when my son was getting out of ROM.
    this is what he said-

“Today was my first day in my new division. Honestly they aren’t that bad. I’ve noticed they talk a whole lot but over the next week they’ll get better. I was so hyped to hear my name called at ROM for return to training. The whole aisle was jumping because we were all RTT. While we were getting our RTT DIV assignments, they told me only I was being separated. I looked at my boys and I could see the disappointment in their eyes. When they walked past me they whispered- it’s all good, good luck, go kick some ass, we’re going to miss you. My heart broke. I was thinking about how I keep getting separated from the people I’m closest to and how I have to start all over. I was angry and sad. Senior chief looked at my file and was said - the division you were going to was a female division? I was hoping I would go to the division that my boys went into. After like an hour of waiting for senior chief to figure out where they went wrong and where I was going, they put me in the same division as my boys. I walked in and their eyes lit up. I introduced myself to the RPOC and he offered me his job. Which is the leader of the division so I will probably take it. I’ll have to learn so much and it’s a hard position, but I want to take it on.”
He said the letters are definitely pushing him through Boot Camp and every time he gets when his day is 100x better :) then at the end of his letter he said PS something crazy just happened and I was generally shaken up, still am. But I’ll wait to tell it because I have to wait and see how it unfolds. Dun dun dunnn... - that’s actually what he said LOL!

I know this is a little private but I thought I’d give ya’ll peek in the window LOL

    Have a great evening everyone!!

  • belovedbyHim

    MaterNauta-- Beautifully worded!!!

VintageGal-- But Wait..... You have left us with a Mystery!!! I look forward to hearing how things worked out! Thanks for the peek behind the curtain! Praying daily for all the SR’s!!
And Thanks.  This has been a new experience for sure!

  • VintageGal

Belovedbyhim - I’m in the middle of writing him a letter right now and I am desperately wanting to know what the heck he’s talking about!

  • Chipmunk

Good Evening Everyone!! BRAVO ZULU to our newest sailors!! And congratulations to the families!!! MaterNauta, Katharine, DsMom2020 -

I saw the messages earlier in my email feed but just now able to get on and say my congratulations as well. Now to go back and read the other posts I need to catch up on.

  • Chipmunk

MaterNauta - Thank you for sharing your story with the other members on this group - I think of all the blue candle pictures everyone has shared the last couple of months and I know that when you all light them, your thoughts and prayers for your loved one SR or Sailor will be heard!!

VintageGal - Thank you for sharing. All the best to your SR as he ventures forward and in due time, I am sure he will share what he is able to with you.

Correnza and NewMilmom2020  - I see you had some replies to your question, but I also posted a message on your page, so be sure to check.

BelovedbyHim - I am sorry to hear about your health issues.

LBF - Clean away girl!! I am working hard too, but on a different project, but hey, I found some things that I needed so that was good!!

Phoenixmom - I need to look for your pictures, I saw them post but didn't have a chance to check them out.

Hugs to everyone else, I haven't mentioned you but I am thinking of you all!!

  • Chipmunk

I am noticing several inconsistencies with the site lately, including the inability for us to delete our comments if need be, since the little X beside our comment is not there. Also, when I go to a members page to welcome them, I usually look for the BC Mom group icon next to their comment wall. Well it is there on some pages and not on others. So, if I have posted a comment, encouraging you to join BC Mom group and you already have, my apologies. I think I figured out how to double check that now, but again, an inconsistency.

    Good Night Everyone!!

  • Clrditto1

Hi, I'm Nancy and my "baby" has joined the navy. He left for quarantine last monday, Oct. 5th. I heard from him the first couple days and now nothing.

I am very very proud of my son, however I find that I am more scared than proud during this particular time period.

He had promised to wait until Feb 2021 but then lost his job and upped the date.

    It's a lot, emotionally.

  • Gigi

Congratulations MaterNauta and Katharine!! Got teary eyed here for you moms!! Hooyah!!
Looking forward for more I’m a sailor call today!!

Still following... only 17 hours late but 5 pages deep wheew

  • Chipmunk

Cirditto 1 - Welcome to BC Moms group!! We are glad you have joined. This can definitely be an emotional roller coaster of a ride, that is for sure. Your son was probably able to call you prior to his phone being boxed up and stored until after BC. You won't likely receive his form letter with a mailing address until around 4 weeks or so, which is why sticking close to this group and sharing your ups and downs is very helpful. I highly recommend finding a new hobby or something to keep you busy. Reading all the information on this group page is a start and this blog by BelovedbyHim.

phoenixmom - also waiting on your new kitchen pictures

  • Gigi

I remember you talked about your roll down window song - mine was You Think I’m Sexy by Red Stewart! I heard it last night on my way home .. thinking of you ladies!

Time for me to get up and prep to work. I decorated my bank yesterday for holloween keeping low this year as we’re trying to refrain customers from touching our stuff. Unfortunately no chocolates Will be out in the lobby

  • Chipmunk

Just a reminder to all of you with a SAILOR!! - Be sure to change your status on your profile page to ENLISTED! - Have a great day everyone!! I may not be logged in much, but I am doing my best to keep up with the chatter!

DSMom2020, just wanted to add a Huge CONGRATULATIONS to your SAILOR. May our LORD PROTECT them on their new journey. God Bless!

  • VintageGal

    Good morning,

Welcome Clrditto1- BNMH (Big Navy Mom Hug) this is a wonderful site that has given us all great support during this time. We’re here to lift up each other’s spirits so feel free to let us know how you’re feeling at any time.
The admin on this site are so informative and helpful and are here to answer any questions you may have.

Gigi - glad to see you on here! Great song! now that song is stuck in my head and probably will be all day! Thank you! :) Lol

chipmunk - Good morning, thank you for the well wishes. How’s your week going?

pheonixmom- I need to take note from you and do it on Friday instead of all weekend. That’s what I did last weekend and I’m not doing it again. I need to get an a movie and some reading!

LBF- I need to also take note from you too! I need to start getting my youngest son in the kitchen more. He does love to cook - I’m setting you up for adulthood young man ;) I hope you have another great productive day!

D’smom- I bet you’re still relishing in the moment!

belovedbyhim- I hope you have an even better day today and are comfortable.

shanny - thinking about you mama! Taking care of your dad, bless him :) and dealing with your headaches. I hope you’ve had some relief.

Partyofseven, C’smom, Kristel2400, Kim, Northwoodsmom, B’sNukeMom, Jennifer, Brandonsmom, Retrotex, - I hope you all have a wonderful day!

No news is good news! BNMH! Let the tears flow with you feel them!

  • LadyBluefire

Dsmom - you made it! He made it! How awesome everything fell into place and you could talk that long!

Kristel - not my BDay - it is Phoenixmom's - mine is not for 2 months :)

MaterNauta - well said, This group is a GOD send.

BBH - are you okay? I have been right where you are but I had to have emergency surgery. PLEASE go to the dr!!!!

Clrditto1 - it is normal not to hear from them for about 4 weeks after the initial I’m here call - in the form of a form letter. Then a week or 2 later the 1st call home. You are in a group with a great bunch of ladies - it will help you get through this!

Gigi - thanks to the song talk I think of this group whenever a song makes me want to roll my window down, and of Vintage whenever I hear Def Leppard, lol.

Chip - I wonder if those inconsistencies are why I am not getting all of the posts? I have checked my spam folder and all other folders and nada.

Vintage - you have my curiosity piqued! Can’t wait to hear the story, lol. I have told my boys that they are gonna make some woman very happy with their kitchen skills! With 5 of those little buggers running around we had them get more involved. (and my mantra is you get what you inspect not what you expect - but I don’t inspect very often but I expect all the time, ha!) I realized my house must sound filthy with all the cleaning I do, lol. It just gets so dusty so quickly and it builds up.

Phew I was nervous at all the posts I had to catch up on = thankfully a lot of them were congratulations for our 3 (or is it 4?) new sailors!!!

Well, I was supposed to be done cleaning this week as I finished the kitchen but I am an overachiever (sometimes) and my laundry room needs attention - especially since I think we need our 12 year old dryer serviced if we don’t want it replaced soon!

    Have a great day ladies!

  • Phoenixmom

Good Morning All, Happy Thursday, wishing you all well this Morning and a great start to your day!

I cant believe all the Sailors we had in the HOUSE! How Exciting is that! Congratulations to all the families with a Sailor!

  • Phoenixmom

As a reminder, the weekly graduation ceremony is held on Thursdays and recorded; there is no live stream. The video will then be posted on this page at 4 p.m. Friday, as well as our YouTube channel for RTC Public Affairs.

Thank you all for the enthusiastic congratulations for my SAILOR and for me. It has been a journey that you all helped me through. I definitely started out scare, sad, confused about what to expect and very soon was on the right track, thanks to all the great information provided by our admin, and the support and info by all you other kind ladies! This site (you ladies) is a Godsend!

I wish I could respond individually to those of you who have reached out, and be more supportive or responsive to you who sharing your challenges. I read everything as soon as I can at every opportunity. I send silent prayers and good wishes. I do work a lot of hours - which does not allow me as much time on here as I would like, but probably saved me from going crazy when my son left.

MaterNauta and Vintage - thank you for your wonderful stories.

Gigi - See you on the Nuke site! Updated my photo - Opsec. My heart wants to post my sons photo, oh well.... Keep those Sailors safe.

New Moms - welcome! It gets easier, I promise. My Sailor is my only child, my world... I made it, you can too! I'm so happy and proud as he continues on this adventure and path in life!

  • partyofseven

Good Morning Ladies and welcome to all of our new moms,

D'sMom- You have made it. Whoo Hoo. Congratulations. May God be with your Sailor through out his Navy Journey.  You are very welcome and keep us posted on his journey.

Some days I can respond more than others but it is ok as long as you were able to read our messages and were getting the support that's all that matters and that you knew we are here for you. Congrats again.

VintageGal- Hooray for more letters. I loved that story. Thank you for sharing. I can't wait to hear the end of what happened.

Gigi- Some days are like that real chatty and others are not. It's good to see you on here.

Phoenixmom- Thank you for my scripture and our prayer. I need that today.  :)

I have been crazy busy all week and through the weekend as well. If we get the ok our hybrid will start on Monday. It truly has been crazy getting all the schedules together who's working from home, who's coming in person. But I know it will be ok.

BBH- Prayers for a speedy recovery and please don't overdo it as much as you can. Rest and take it easy.

    Good Morning to all.

God Bless and have a great day!!!

  • partyofseven

Good Morning Clrditto1 and welcome to our group. You have come to the right place and it is good to have you here.

The first few weeks of silence is hard. The best thing to do is cry when you need to :) and you will and it's ok. The second thing to do is read everything you can. I know some of the other ladies posted links for you and it is good information to read.

No question is ever dumb and someone will answer you. Also keeping busy is key. Start writing your SR now and number your letters so when you get his address you can send those letters off right away. They love to receive mail from us and it's good for you to.

Let us know if we can help you in any way.

    Welcome again!!!

  • partyofseven

Coley423- That is awesome!!! Yay for letters and a phone call. That is wonderful news. That 's good to hear that he is doing good and will be leaving ROM soon. yay!!!

God is so good!!! Thanks for sharing and it was good to see you on here. Was thinking about you the other day. Good to hear your ok.

    Have a great day!!!

  • C'sMom

Hello, everyone!  Welcome to the newcomers!

VintageGal, what a cliff hanger!  I wonder if our SRs will ever meet, but how will we tell if they do?  Lol  I wonder if the ones that graduate together travel to A school together, and how many that will be?  Of course, there are probably those going to a different A school in the same location traveling with them, as well.

D'sMom, I love your heart-felt post!  It's hard to believe we are 2 weeks away from where you are now.  Newcomers, the time actually goes fast, and I think it's because of being connected to this group.

I want to order one of those anchors.  I actually have it ready and in a cart.  But I don't want to order it too early because I think what if he goes into another ROM.  But at this point, most of his time has been in this division.  If he goes into ROM and ends up in another division, I'm not sure how I will design the anchor.  I looked into making it myself, but I'm not crafty AT ALL!  And I priced somethings.  I think it would cost more to make it than order it.

  • Northwoodsmom

DsMom2020, I have my son's picture on my site and if you go to photos, there are alot of them. I know PhoenixMom has pictures on there from Boot camp. I watch the graduations even though I don't know who they are. I figure one of those brand new Sailors belong to someone on this site I I feel it is paying respect for their effort. They all go out and protect us so I pray over all those faces.

  • Shanny

CsMom:  my son runs i to people from his division at A School all the time. They have gotten together as a group for lunch or dinner a few times. So even if they don't fly out together they will have the chance to see each other if they are at the same A School. He told me last night he was walking to the NEX and some guy yelled his name. He turned around and it was a guy he had left MEPS with. He hadn't seen him at BC at all. (Different divisions) you just never know

  • Phoenixmom

Hi Ladies sorry form the late reply had to go do aa run and pick up supplies. Thank You B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN  for the November site. PartyofSeven you are welcome and thank you. Yes you can have your sailor on your photos just no names can be seeing.

Yes shanny our Loved Ones make so many friends, My Son in BC was helping a lot of those that couldn't make the run or sit ups, push ups, and they remain as friends but all went their separate ways. He had a friend from High school that came a year before him and was in for flying Jets. He lost contact with him after he was deployed out, still trying to find him. But My Son has met some pretty neat guys/Gals they really do stick together. My Son Mentioned those that work together in their Unit stick together you usually don't go outside of that, But who Knows everything is possible.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

I received a response back from the marketing company and they think they have fixed the problem regarding the issue of not being able to "edit" your comment or delete it.

Can someone (anyone) let me know if you see the "x" in the comment box and the "edit" feature?  It shows up for me but that's because I'm an admin.

    Thanks.

  • LadyBluefire

B'sNuke - I see the x but no edit feature..

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

    Hmmmmm....well, it's half done then!

    Thank you!

  • Shanny

B’sNukeMoM:  I see the “x” but I have never seen an edit option...

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Ok - the edit option might just be something that I can do as an admin!

    Thanks!

  • Shanny

Ok I am going to try to catch up a little.  So I never put my glasses on today. No headache for the first time in 2 weeks. My eyes ache and feel “tired” but no headache. Appointment tomorrow so hopefully...  some answers. Since my optic neuritis last year, my eyes continue to change. So maybe, it is just another change

oh heard from my sailor (never gets old saying it) last night and he has finally received his classes after 2 weeks waiting at A School. He started them today. He said he would call me tonight and let me know how they went.

Welcome to our new members!!!  You have come to the right place!  I came here in July kind of broken, lost and scared for my son. The ladies here welcomed me with open arms and helped me through my freak out moments. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions-trust me, no question is a bad question. (And if it is, I’ve probably asked it myself!)

hope everyone is having an amazing day!  I am hibernating since we have a freeze warning and I am just not ok with that!

  • LadyBluefire

Bsmom - never been able to edit so I was hoping, lol!
