VintageGal-- Thank you!!! This is exactly the kind of information we need shared on here. Recent Personal Experience!! Did you add "In ROM" To the address when you sent it through SB?

VintageGal
Families- hi! I didn’t need to put - in ROM - on the Sandboxx (wasn’t anywhere to put it that I could see) and it made it to him in a reasonable time. I sent one to him 4 days before he got out (mistake) which I found out during our conversation days later that he hadn’t gotten that one yet. So two days after he got of ROM we got a late night call - 8:15 PM PST - to tell us his new address. The convo lasted 1 minute.
So Sandboxx only takes 4 days to get to him and it gives them a return envelope to send a letter right back. JUST OBSERVE OPSEC :)

Welcome to our newest members!! Please come here and share about your Navy journey. This is where we do most of our chatter and answer most questions.
VintageGal - I hope you got your reading done. Unfortunately, even burning the candle at both ends, mine was set aside for other things I needed to get ready for my Book Club group!!

VintageGal - Thank you for this information!! I literally just hand wrote a 4 page letter and then saw this lol. I think I will mail it anyway, adding ROM to the envelope, and then send another through Sandboxx. I have not used Sandboxx...they just print what you write andsend it off??
Yesterday was a rough day emotionally, just thinking about my girl. But I'm feeling better today. And I connected with another mom through FB who has a daughter in the same division and also got sent to ROM. Hoping they are friends and helping each other through this!!!
Thank you ladies for all of your support. xo

Shoosh- you’re welcome <3 Yes, they print it up and send it and add an envelope and paper for them to write back. I did the same thing, I wrote a two page letter front and back, printed pictures on paper... I believe I sent 6-8 envelopes (also letters from his brother and sister - those were hysterical) in the mail plus the SB. I flooded the boy! If she has some good friends I would forward the app and let them know the privacy guidelines, such as writing like anyone is reading it. The app is kind of tricky to set up. You have to completely finish your profile and payment info before you can even enter their boot camp address. My sons friends, who are 18 and waaaay more tech savvy than me, said - uh, can we come over and get some help setting this up? Lol My SR said it made all the difference receiving our letters.
Having her closest bunk mates from her division with her should really lift each other’s spirits. It definitely did for my son. My heart goes out to you and your daughter. Through my heartache my husband said - I like to think that there’s a reason for this setback in the grand scheme of things. Like maybe he’ll be presented with a better opportunity that he otherwise wouldn’t have gotten had he graduated on time. Although I was frustrated I thought maybe he’s right. I hope he’s right. BNMH to you!!!

Is there any way to re-order them? Thanks in advance

VintageGal such great info!! I just sent my first letter through Sandboxx and forwarded the link to family and friends!! I agree with your husband, there is definitely a reason. She is going to help someone, or someone is going to help her. There is something bigger than us at work here. xo

Redrover0628 - I would contact the PhotoNex at RTC.
VintageGal - sorry I didn't see your question earlier. Three Men in a Boat and a Dog, I think is the title - an old British humor book that I have just not gotten into as much as the others have.

Also, you might want to start putting in a claim with FED - EX if you haven't already but the PhotoNex should also be able to help. I deal with the USPS a lot with pkgs and their are sort of a hassle if you use the phone, but I have learned to use the email option more. I also do a lot of praying for "that which is lost to be found!!"

Redrover - sent you a PM
My mind is a whirling vortex, lol. I don't think I missed anything exciting on here.
MY son called AGAIN Sunday. Turns out they are the top division in the TG and earned another call. He earned his own call that might come in this week if the chief remembers. But he has called so many times (I think we are up to 6 if we do not count the information call) that we have run out of things to talk about. Home is boring and he draws a blank once he calls us.
He did tell us a story about the day that they were celebrating the Navy's birthday. They had steak and lobster. The person that was sitting next to him, started choking on his steak. So my son had to call a training time out so that one of the RDCs could administer the Heimlich maneuver. The recruits are not allowed to perform the Heimlich maneuver even if they know how to perform the Heimlich maneuver. So that was an exciting moment for my son.
Today he turns 18 and I am a little sad we can't celebrate with him. We are going to have a little party, put his face on my husband's Chromebook and sit "him" at the table. Then video conference as many siblings as we can to sing happy birthday and then record that and send it to him to watch. We have cupcakes with his fave color frosting.
Anyone here have an SR graduating this week? I think just 6kids but not sure if anyone else..
AS far as how long photos take - in my last PIR group some got them before the PIR video aired on FB and some did not get them for weeks afterwards. So you can't assume they are lost just because others have theirs and you do not. I would def light a fire under FedEx though...I actually got mine faster than some when my son took them to A school and waited a week to send them. Also verify your kid shipped them - so far my last 2 did not listen to me about shipping from RTC. Hopefully #4 listens.
Have a great day ladies and gentleman!

A Morning Prayer on the Beautiful Scripture Mrs. PartyofSeven posted:
Loving Father, too often my mind is deflected from Jesus onto the things of the world, especially when times are difficult, but I want to keep my mind on Christ, knowing that this is Your best will for me. I pray that I become increasingly aware of the Spirit's promptings in my life, so that day by day, my heart and mind may become saturated with the lovely Lord Jesus. May His nature be reflected through my actions and attitude and may my life be transformed daily, by the renewing of my mind. Help me to prove in my life what Your will for me is, and may I do only those things that are good, and acceptable and perfect in Your sight - for Your praise and glory, and for the benefit of others. This I ask in your name Jesus, AMEN.

Good morning all!!! Quick question, how many days before a TG's PIR could that start BST-21? Also how many divisions at a time participate in this event?
Woohoo for call and letters
LadyBlue - Happy birthday to your son!! Sounds like he is excelling so much at BC!!

Kim "I'm a Sailor!" calls, which are typically made 1 to 7 days before PIR, but can come up to 10 days before PIR, are in the afternoon and evenings and begin around 2ish pm CST and end around 8ish pm CST. (See Battle Stations-21 (BST).) Calls can come anytime between 1 pm and 8 pm CST on Friday if the phone banks are available and anytime between 8 am and 8 pm CST on Saturday and between 1 pm and 8 pm CST on Sunday.

For those of You that will have their Loved ones in BC during Thanksgiving, Please know that they will have a Very nice dinner and maybe some free time. so Need to worry!
And for those that will have Loved Ones in A school in GL well they use to be able to get Adopted out, But with this Covid that may not happen but they too will have a Nice Dinner. when my Son was in GL for thanksgiving he was able to get Adopted out a really nice Family Adopted him and a few friends, they played games, was able to face time, have a Hearty Dinner. But also there for those that stayed on Base the Chicago bears came on Base signed autographs served food so they did have things going on for them for those that wanted to participate.

kim - yes he seems to be excelling. It is about time ONE of my sailors had a good RTC division.
All of my kids called me Mon/Wed just before PIR - so did BST on Sun/Tue. The Mon caller was the first division is his TG and one Wed caller was 2nd to last set of 4 divisions. My first sailor graduated a week early and it was before we understood the "I'm a Sailor" call would even be coming in and we had only heard rumors she would PIR early. I am not sure if I was in this group yet or not. Though not sure what you would call it since my 1st 3 had no PIR.
With the condensed training not sure how they could start BST earlier than the Sunday before PIR anymore.
Oct 20, 2020
Phoenixmom
They never had BST on Fridays because of the Captains Cup and I don't think they are doing that as of this moment Captains cup that is so they may be having BST in place. but usually it was Sun. to Thurs. if I'm not mistaken.
Oct 20, 2020
LadyBluefire
Phoenix - yep this year it is Sun-Weds and some odd divisions did it on Thursdays as we saw with one mom in here. With PIR on Thursdays now they seem to stay within the Sun-Wed format.

Redrover0628- Are you sure they are LOST lost and not just hung up somewhere in the FedEx pipeline? Be sure to file a claim with FedEx and confirm that they will pay for the missing photographs before you spend the $$ on new photos. Once you order them, if they turn up you cannot cancel the order.
Shoosh-- Hopefully you will learn why the setback but it may not be evident for a long time!
LadyBluefire-- WOW!!! How scary for the recruit!! While I agree that they don’t want recruits dawdling over their meals, they don’t need to force them to bolt it down either!! My Sailor can eat a full meal in under 10 minutes!! I often ask him if he even tastes it? He is such a good cook too!! If they taught them to CHEW first and gave them a little more time maybe that wouldn’t happen! They are very strict on the Recruits do not touch other recruits unless instructed to do so. It’s funny that they call it a “Training Time-out” though. This SR is making up for the others!! weekly calls!! WOW!!! Way to go!

Hey Ladies! Did anyone hear that there are parents/ppl going out to GL and spending the day after graduation with their SRs? I’m not trying to start any rumors - more like put one to bed bc I don’t know HOW that could be true. (My SRs father saw this somewhere on FB.)

Beloved - that sounds like my number 4s grandpa - he tells people slap it on the grill slide it across flip it over and put it on my plate. I am more of a medium to medium well person. something not too far gone so that I can reheat it the next day without overcooking it. My husband got me out of my well done comfort zone.

This is hysterical ... so he sends me a pic of someone who’s claiming to be with their sailor after graduation ..... there’s huge palm trees in the background!!! I nearly died!! Anyone know if suddenly ILLINOIS have those? LOLLLLL Before I got his msg, I asked RTC via FB and this was their answer...
”Unfortunately, that is not true as visitors are not allowed on base and the graduating recruits are not allowed off base until they are being transferred to their "A" Schools. No one gets to see their new Sailors.”
Lesson here..........consider the source. GOOD NIGHT MY LOVELY LADIES❤️

Happy Momma tonight!!! rec'd the form letter with my SR address... time to mail the letters I typed out to him!! He gives a PIR date in Nov. for his Division in the form letter. Pray that all goes well on that for All of them & no return to ROM. He departed from So.Ca on 9/23 so the fact I got the form letter today I feel is a miracle w/Co-Vid stuff going on. I know it's not much but, receiving the form letter was enough to make me sooo happy I was dancing & singing as I made supper.

Choking - wow I can’t imagine not being allowed to help someone right next to you who was choking (I’ve successfully done Heimlich twice). Glad it ended well.
Photos - well my son paid for shipping. Period. I hope the photo store shipped them. Guess I can call to find out. I hope they aren’t just sitting in their back room.

Kristel2400-- I'm fairly sure I didn't see any palm trees 7 years ago but.... I supposed they could have planted some! HOWEVER, I'm sure they were faking the photos since currently no New sailors are granted liberty to see loved ones at GL following BC. I know it's hard when you just want that glimmer of hope but try and keep your wits and wisdom about you!

Good morning all! As for Illinois, I can assure everyone we do not have any palm tree's here LOL
NewMilMom - You might have a very exciting week because 3 days after our form letter came we received all the letters our SR wrote while on ROM. He stuffed 11 letters in one envelope with 3 stamps, lol. Hope and pray you get some handwritten soon. They help A LOT!!!
