C'sMom I went back to read all the post wasn't sure what was going on, so Now I found it. I am so sorry to hear about your Mother, and You being the Only Child this has to be hard for you. I am the Oldest and I have had to lay my Father my Mother to Rest with no help. You are a Strong Lady and you will over come this, I know the Lord is holding you up and right beside you. And then to Read on Your Son that too is devastating. I hope he can hang on to his strength  and determination and continue on with his Dream. if it is any consolation we are here beside him routing for him 100% please let him know he isn't alone in this. I will be Praying for you and your Family, I believe that prayer is powerful and the good lord will hear each Prayer.

  • Phoenixmom

God is always here for us, to give us strength and lift our hearts when all seems hopeless.

Most of us realize that our own strength is not always enough to get through some of the situations that this life brings.

At those difficult times, it is wise to call on God for extra strength and for His strength to help sustain you.

A Prayer for C'sMom and her Sailor:

Lord, I come before you today knowing that all power is in Your hand.
I know that you are the Lord and that you care for your people.
Right now, my friend and Her Son are struggling with a difficult trial.
I can see Both of their strength's  faltering, Lord, and know that you have all of the strength that They Both Need.

I pray that you will reach down and touch her and Him right now wherever they are at this moment.
Let your presence fill the room where they both are at this moment  and may they both feel an extra portion of your
strength that can help them Both to get through this day.

They Both need you now, Lord, and I thank you in advance for meeting them where they both are
and shoring up their strength during this difficult time.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

  • C'sMom

    Amen!  Thank you, PhoenixMom!

  • Phoenixmom

You are Very Welcome C'sMom I don't want you to worry your Pretty head, God has heard our Prayers for you and your Son. He works miracles! get some rest!

  • NewMilmom

I did not write this wonderful prayer but I did change to Navy...I read it for 2 other branches of the military & felt it should be also for our Navy Recruits.

    A PRAYER FOR MY RECRUIT

Father, in the coming days I will need You, but my recruit will need You more.

Let him perform his tasks with a sense of duty, not of anger or vengeance.

Let his reflexes be quick and his hands steady.

Let his head be clear and his eyes sharp.

Let his mind and body be strong and his spirit stronger.

Christ, please stand by my recruit and watch his back when he cannot.

Father, I love this recruit of mine!

Take from ME, what he needs and give me what he does not.

I will pace the nights, if it means he gets some sleep.

I will deal with fatigue, if it means he will have energy.

I will carry his fear, if it means it gives him courage.

I will take his pain, if it means he is healthy and whole.

I will take his anger, if it means he is at peace.

Take from me my love and pride and let him feel it!

Let him know that I am with him every step of the way.

Please take from me what You can; I give it willingly and with love.

It is all that I have besides my prayers.

Above all, please help my recruit achieve his goals of becoming a

    United States Navy Sailor.

This I ask on bended knee, that which I cannot do without You.

    Amen.

  • Phoenixmom

Wow I cant believe how quite it has been on here, everyone ok?

  • Phoenixmom

well have a great evening and weekend see you all later.

  • VintageGal

NewMilMom- thank you that was absolutely beautiful. I will be copying pasting that to my notes.

Pheonixmom- I hope you have some fun plans this weekend. You always seem to have a blast! I don’t know how I missed commenting back on your post. It was beautiful the way that you honored your dear friend last weekend. That’s a great image of your sweet husband and his buddy rocking out with Eddie Halen. I’m sure Eddie brought the party to heaven! But seriously hugs to you and enjoy your weekend. <3

Starting my weekend off with a glass of wine cheese and a miss Marple movie LOL

Shanny- I haven’t watched big brother but I am watching the amazing race and I’m so excited for the new season!!
  • Chipmunk

VintageGal - Enjoy your Miss Marple movie. My husband and I checked the series out from our library last year and watched though many of them. We also like the Murdoch Mysteries as well.

NewMilmom2020 - Thank you for sharing the prayer with our members.

Phoenixmom - May you have a wonderful weekend! Enjoy more planning with your kitchen and house remodel.

  • Northwoodsmom

Milmom2020, thank you so much for the beautiful prayer, even though my son is enlisted now I enjoyed reading it. I know it touched all the Boot Camp Moms.

May all you wonderful Ladies have a peaceful weekend filled with things you love.

  • belovedbyHim

Kim-- Yeah for happy letters!! Always a good thing!

C'sMom-- They are usually able to write more since they have so much Wait time. It’s so hard when stuff is happening at home and we don’t have our kids there.
For other new moms.... This is an important conversation to have. With COVID, unless it’s a Parent or sibling they likely will not be able to come home from either BC or A school. SO you need to ask them if they would want to know and when and who. My Sailor wanted siblings and parents right Away, Aunts and Uncles and cousins after Bs21 bit before PIR if possible and friends after he got to A school.

VintageGal- Thank you for jumping in and letting C’sMom know your first hand experience!!

LadyBluefire -- Arnica Gel will help with the tenderness in your foot! (If you use Essential Oils I can suggest another blend that may help as well) Also soaking in Epsom salts baths will aid in healing. I haven’t been able to wear cute shoes for YEARS!!! I am happy to be able to wear any shoes that aren’t tennis shoes! Yeah for seeing your Sailor!! 4th time is the charm!!

Partyofseven-- thank you. I am not near the fires but the smoke is visible and it’s all that is on the news.

Katharine-- WOW !!! One more strike against mail in balloting!  However I'm glad that he got to vote.

Anti M-- I agree that our sailors need to be honest about illness. While COVID is not particularly dangerous to our sailors and THEY are not going to see grandma, there are others who work on that base who do go home to vulnerable people and if they take it to their A school and spread it to the service members there we again have spread and we will continue to have to live under all these restrictions.

  • Shoosh

Good news ladies! I have a letter coming today! And the postmark is 10/21, 4 days after she arrived at ROM, so I'm hoping for an update!! This has been a tough week, reading how everyone is getting the I'm a Sailor call. Still so sad for my girl, but I know she will get there!! I've connected with another mom whose daughter is with her. That and the support I have received here is so helpful, knowing I am not alone. As we all know, anyone on the outside doesn't really get it! So thank you thank you thank you!!

And congratulations to those who have Sailors :) I'm envious, but so happy for you all.

  • Chipmunk

Shoosh - I am soooo happy for you!!!

  • C'sMom

Shoosh, hoping you find your daughter in better spirits with the coming letter.  That's what I'm hoping for my SR.  It's so hard, isn't it?

NewMilMom, thank you form that prayer.  I may even send it to my SR.

I sent out a sandboxx letter last night.  Wanted to get it out earlier, but with everything with my mom, I couldn't get to my laptop before then.  I told him essentially that God knows this is happening and He has a plan.  It may be to grow my SR in his relationship with him, to allow my SR to touch someone with God's light, to allow my SR to have an experience he might not have otherwise, etc.  I then quoted Romans 5:2-5. I hope he takes this to heart.

I have a question?  Does anyone know what happens if the person sick tests negative for Covid?  Do they get released from ROM and go back with their original division?

Everyone, have a wonderful weekend!  The sun is shining here after a week of rain!

  • partyofseven

Good Morning Ladies and welcome to all of our new moms,

Another day closer to PIR. Please keep your phones on you at all times and those ringers on loud. You just never know.

Shoosh- Whoo hoo a letter is coming. That is awesome!!! I am so happy for you!!! And yes it truly does help when we are connected with others that know what we are going thru.

I believe they have to test negative twice but being released from ROM, but I could be wrong. I thought that's what I had read somewhere and it just depends on where they are when they got pulled from training.

Prayers for your SR and mom's continued health. BNH's to you!!!

belovedbyHim- You are very welcome and I'm glad you are not close to the fires. Still be safe out there.

Phoenixmom- Good Morning, Have a great weekend!!

Anit M- I know. That's what happened to mine. There was people he was working with that did not report being sick and they all had to quarantine. It does not help at all when people do that. All it does is make it worse and the virus will continue to be here. Ugh!!!

    Take care out there ok.

    Have a wonderful day ladies!!!

  • partyofseven

  • Anti M

Good morning, chilly here.  Feels like autumn for sure.

I think one of the side effects of a shorter boot camp is the new sailors don't fully understand and embrace that they must protect the unit, the ship, over individualism and their immediate cohort.  Sure, they learned teamwork, but still have not stepped up to the wider view.  Hopefully they'll get there. The old "country before self" Kennedy used to speak about.  It's hard for them to see it in ROM though!

Once they test negative (how ever many times), they probably don't go back to their original division if they were pulled out individually. They will go into a division which matches where they were in training, or one slightly before.  The original has moved ahead. In the new division, they are now senior, and know how things work, so may be tasked with helping the others learn.

  • Shanny

Just a quick message from my sailor....

He says to please make sure your new sailors know that garbage does not go in the garbage can. I know strange thing to say. They had a surprise inspection and his new roommate put a candy wrapper and energy drink can in the trash can. They failed inspection because of it. And had to do another in full dress whites. They passed but were told garbage does not belong in the garbage can. "Shove it down your pants if you have to but we don't want to see it. It is an automatic failure."

Umm I noticed someone asked about negative covid tests. My son got caught up in a couple of "holds" when people were sick but tested negative right away. He and the others were sent right back to training in the same division. I'm not sure if that was the question or not?  He never got a second ROM out of it

  • VintageGal

    Good afternoon everyone,

chipmunk - I miss Marple movies are great fun! I got beat out by the October Halloween movie watching With nightmare on Elm Street. Lol i’ll have to check out the Murdoch mysteries.

Shanny - that’s a riot! “Garbage cans aren’t made for garbage! What were you thinking boy??! garbage cans are made for garbage! Where were you thinking boy?!” My husband would get a kick out of this he’s always saying stuff like he heard it off full metal jacket or something.

I wish my son would’ve gotten tested at least halfway through ROM and then went back if he had tested negative. But that never happened.

Csmom - my prayers go out to your mom and your family <3 those are beautiful words that you sent to your son and definitely something that he needs to here right now. Brought tears to my eyes. BNMH to you :)

Shoosh - I’m so glad you have found comfort with all of these ladies and being able to bond with them over the same experience. I’m so glad we all have each other.

Hi Partyofseven- enjoying this weekend?! :) I feel like holding my breath until I get that I am a sailor call!

I see that I have a Sandboxx letter on its way back from my so and I can’t wait to get it!!
Right now I’m working on a photo collage I’ve asked everyone he knows and looks up to to send me a selfie giving a thumbs up. To send in his last SB letter. I sent one yesterday and I feel like that’s just in time for battle stations. It might be too late for me to do it today so I might just make a slideshow with music and email it to him so he can look at it once he gets his laptop or his phone back. I took a picture of the photo album and then With the photo collage I zoomed out so it was on top of all the other pictures kind of hard to explain but it looks really cool. The SB letters allows one picture to be added to it but you can finagle it and do a photo collage.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Rocking out and cleaning over here! Woohoo!

  • VintageGal

My apologies for the typos and repeat sentences LOL

Anti M - I agree that these young adults need to learn selflessness. A lot have learned great values from their parents but we live in a “me generation” so I’m glad that they’re at Boot Camp learning these additional values and life lessons. We always appreciate hearing of your personal experiences and getting your insight. Thank you!

  • partyofseven

Shanny, Yes that was; Thank you for sharing and letting her know. I know we had talked about it before but I couldn't find it.

That story was crazy, no garbage in the garbage can. :)

VintageGal- I know your time is coming. Yes I had a very nice weekend so far. My grand son has been here all weekend so that is always great.

Yay for another letter coming!! Whoo hoo. The photo collage sounds neat. I love making those!!

We watched the Hotel Transylvania series. :) Foot ball tomorrow and resting to get ready for the week.  :)

Anti M- Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us on the daily. I appreciate hearing your stories and knowledge.  :)

Rest easy ladies and have a great rest of the night.

  • Northwoodsmom

AntiM, your post was so spot on. I remember seeing my son for a few hours at the airport before he left for A School. The biggest change I saw in him was the selflessness. His concern was for his fellow Sailors. The comradery between them were the most obvious. Even to this day I still see it. Yesterday when my husband called him he answered,  but quickly went into the bathroom and was talking in a whisper we could barely hear because he said his roommate has watch duty today and needed to sleep. Now that wasn't the son that left for the Navy, but it is the young man the Navy turned him into. I am proud of what the Navy has been able to accomplish in him. He was a very selfish person, without a purpose and no direction in his life. With endless Prayers and God's plan for his life, the Navy has accomplished things with him I thought were hopeless.

Just as the Navy has instilled in them to look beyond themselves, and put the needs of others and the Navy first I am not there yet. It is hard for us, for me to except that my need to have him home for family, for holidays isn't the priority here. My selfish needs has to give way to a greater need. To protect and keep the most valuable assets of the Navy safe, Our, their Sailors. I Pray I will get there, I will learn like my Sailor, selflessness!

  • Anti M

    Great post, Northwoodsmom.

  • LadyBluefire

Good morning everyone! This is the final week for a large group of you if memory serves! Prayers for BST!

So I cried over some other blonde kid in need of a haircut. I had the right division though, lol. Based on the photo there was no indication of division and the photos were not in div order. But when the video came out he was exactly where he said he would be - being a section leader his position in march is set. Normal recruits with no set job can be moved around based on who is left to march at PIR. They lost 9 at the PFA so his bunkmate who was to be near him was in the first half of the division march. My son was in the 2nd half. He looked so proud and confident, I can not reconcile the man I saw with the sweet, silly goofy boy I talked to weekly!

If anyone’s kid is a yeoman, MA (just at RTC), RCLPO, or a section leader I can pretty much tell you where in formation they will be. For SL I won’t know which of the 2 sections they are in UNLESS they are THE port or starboard watch section leader.

Dsmom - I have heard of many, many pacts. May not be the kind of teamwork the Navy wants to inspire but it IS teamwork.

NewMilMom - thanks for the beautiful poem!

BBH - I’d have to use a bucket - I have no bath tub. The people who added on our master suite had 2 pedestal sinks, a garden tub and a shower. NO storage. None. Zip. Nada. So we tore out the tub and sinks and put in tons of storage. (and our own sinks). Foot is on the mend but I would love to hear the essential oil blend you recommend! Feel free to PM it to me!

Shoosh - yay for letters! I hope she is well!! Sorry she is in ROM. I hope they find a way to reduce the need for ROM. This virus will never go away, it will be as cyclical as the deadlier flu we contend with. Hopefully not annually, as it seems to strike every 10 years or so...though I am speaking of SARS as that is all this is...which makes me wonder how the military handled RTC last time SARS came around..

Csmom - none of mine got pulled for ROM that would hurt their PIR - but even a simple I love you at the beginning of a letter from home is enough to warm their hearts and encourage them.

Shanny - as a rule my kids at A school do not even have trash cans. My poor kids at Meridian have weekly field days - every Wed for 2 hours the 12 of them have to clean their barracks - normally it takes them all 30 mins to clean BUT they have to clean for 2 hours. So they clean for 2 hours and count down the minutes, lol. They just stand in one spot each rewiping the same spot over and over. If Chief comes in and they are not actively cleaning they will drop down a phase. (they can always shove garbage in their locked closets, lol)

Vintage - that collage idea sounds awesome! With sandboxx my daughter said she would get the letters 2 days after they were written (by her friends). It doesn’t hurt to try and send it. Worst case he won;t get it and you have a copy of it anyway..

  • LadyBluefire

So, I was told by my #4 he would be at RTC for a week and then to GL A school for a week and then to VA - which is odd as GL A school has nothing to do with his rate.

Imagine my surprise when I was out playing Pokemon and AC/DC Back in Black popped up in our family group chat from my #4! And he was on his way to VA - where he was originally to go!

He has to go back to GL in about a week for a week and then I guess back to VA. I dont understand it - but the military doesn;t always make sense, lol. One of the POs said they can pretty much wipe their tushies (not the word he used) with the paper those orders are written on, so I guess it may not happen?

So another proud mom moment - he told us they scored 4.95 on their BST-21. Best score out of all 4 of my kids.

I told my son 13 should be his lucky #. His ship # and he was able to march and had no additional ROM.

  • Shanny

LBF:  oh the orders...  I have had a countdown on my phone for his A School graduation based on his orders...  his orders say he is to report to his duty station November 5th. He has been at A School since September 28th. (PIR 9/24). He hasn’t even STARTED classes yet!  I am learning to set no expectations on dates and plans or even official orders

they have a small waste basket (kind of like you may have in the bathroom) And they have to keep a garbage bag in it. But they aren’t supposed to use it. So strange!  I laughed when he went off about it. This is a kid whose room was always a maze of pop bottles and food wrappers.

  • LadyBluefire

Shanny = my #3's orders are report to PDS on 10/23. He won't graduate A school til early November, lol.

That garbage can sounds like entrapment to me, lol!

    Sending you a PM

  • Kristel2400

Hey ladies! I have some catching up to do but wanted to drop in & say hello!! This coming week is PIR for myself and Vintage! I know we are both extremely excited. I hope we’re able to see them in either the grad video or pics. My SR sent back a letter using the Sandboxx letterhead & envelope they provided .... it took forEVER to get here. Weird. Wow !!! on the garbage can tip...I’m going to say thank you from our SRs too, I’m sure they’ll appreciate the heads up on that one. Anyways, have a GREAT WEEK! Love to all❤️

  • Kristel2400

@csmom.....my SR showed symptoms of a cold and was sent back to ROM. He tested negative for COVID but was held in ROM for another 2 weeks (for a total of 4 weeks in ROM). He was put into a different division. Not sure if it was different for anyone else.

  • VintageGal

    Good morning everyone :),

Partyofseven- it sounds like you had a fun night with your grandson :) did you get some snuggles? Lol I love curling up with my nieces and watching a movie.

Northwoodsmom- It’s so wonderful to hear of the positive effects and the maturity! Thanks for sharing!

ladybluefire- I know what you mean! I analyzed this boy in the recruit training pictures, who wasn’t my son, for about two days! I have a feeling we’re not the only ones you’ve done that LOL I think about all four children that you’ll be tracking and sending letters to... wow! :)

kristel2400 - hey lady! Here we go! I was telling party that I just want to hold my breath until it’s all over! Have you gotten any new news from your SR. Since they’re in the same division! :) In my son’s last letter he said that he got asked to be the RPOC but I have no idea if he is. I can’t imagine that he’d turn it down. That’s not his style. And he was a lead where he worked so cross my fingers that he’ll be where I can see him in graduation.I only say that because I think when you hold certain jobs you’re upfront or on the side I don’t know.

Shanny- I guess this is where the “hurry up and wait” comes into play LOL

Csmom- Thinking about you this morning. I went back and was able to read your entire post from a couple of days ago.
Oh lady I wish I can hug you right now. Your mother sounds like she has been a strong woman throughout her long life. I pray that your mother is comfortable and without pain at this time. I pray for peace for your heart and the memories, that you find comfort in them.

  • Kristel2400

@Vintage!! I KNOW!! I feel like this week is gonna be super stressful for us. I’m terrified especially bc of what just happ with Csmom! One week to go and sent back?!! Jesus that’s horrible. My heart aches for her & her SR. I know mine won’t be able to take another bout of ROM. I did get a letter this week but it was dated 10/11... so everything he wrote was what he told me on the phone call. Omgggg ...he fell asleep sitting up and the RDC was in his face yelling his name and he didn’t budge. When he did come to, he had an RDC on his left and on his right. He said I knew I was screwed. Lol His punishment was to sit in the middle of the room and shine his shoes.  ....a lot less than what I (and he) would’ve imagined!! They told him if there was a fire, he would’ve been dead. SMH!! So here’s a funny story.... when he was in class (hs) and was told the US Navy recruiters were coming in to present, his teacher WARNED the recruiters that they should “watch this one” bc he’ll fall asleep. This was THE ONLY presentation he stayed awake and interested in.....and here we are....4 days from USN graduation!! OOOOH LORD....I pray we’re good til then. Congrats on your SR being chosen as a leader! That’s GREAT! Keep me updated gurl! I think mine said he will be somewhere in the middle while marching soooo I’ll be watching the recording over & over like a football game film. I wonder when we actually get their pictures. Ok one day at a time. I’ll message you when this is over and remind you when it’s ok to EXHALE. ❤️

  • VintageGal

Kristel2400- I take those sentiments and send them right back to you! So close!
OH NO! I Bet you felt bad for your SR but then I bet you let out a little chuckle... oh man! That’s the military! I know these kids get so tired because these days are so long. I bet he now sits awake like he’s had a pot of coffee after all that. I know these kids have come so far. My son said that his group had to go to IT a couple times but it was a bit muffled so I wasn’t sure exactly why. I’m thinking that they’ll be in BST on Tuesday or Wednesday because they’re fifth to last in their graduating DIV. :) :) :)
  • Chipmunk

    Good Afternoon everyone!

Regarding the falling asleep, my sailor has told me of several times during BC where he was able to sleep while marching!! Not sure if he was actually as effective at that as he thinks he was or not. During his schooling, he would also stand at the back of class to stay awake and take notes. My son who use to think he could survive on 6 hours of sleep, now makes it a priority to do his best at 8 hours of sleep, to stand his 12 hour watches. And he has learned how to switch his sleep cycles as well, much better than I can, to change his duty time.

Northwoodsmom - You will get there. AntiM commented that they are not "civilians" anymore and the hardest thing is remembering that while our kids are still our own kids, their lives right now are owned by the military!

Hugs and prayers for all of you waiting on your sailor calls this week!!!

  • VintageGal

Chipmunk- thank you so much! Here we go!
I hope you enjoyed your weekend :)

Phoenixmom - I hope you’re enjoying your weekend! I have a feeling you’re having a great time with friends and family and watching your football games :)

I’m reading Before We Were Yours, with a cup of orange spice tea next to an open window with a cool breeze. My idea of a Sunday afternoon :) awwwwe lol
  • MaterNauta

LadyBluefire: it is so good to hear that you see your baby!!!! Praise the Lord for group chats!! And congratulations for a 4.95 on their BS-21! Wow, we civilians will certainly be well taken care of by our United States Navy Sailors!!!

Catskill Mountain Gere: CONGRATULATIONS on your SAILOR!!!!

B’sNukeMoM: Re: invisible. I get it… It’s like my extra pounds, but in reverse… they are not there, but they are “visible.”

Phoenixmom: such soul-nourishing prayers… As always!

NewMilmom2020: Thank you for tweaking and sharing that prayer!!

    Shoosh: Woohoo!! Letter coming!!!

C’sMom: Rain? What is that. Asking for a Californian friend…

Shanny: “garbage does not go in the garbage can” My goodness!! That sounds like me when I used to tell my children “if you break you legs, don’t come running to me!” LOL!!!

Northwoodsmom: “Now that wasn't the son that left for the Navy.” What a moving post… I want to believe that he had those virtues all along. He just needed the right circumstances to show them!!

Wishing you all a peace-filled week. My prayers, blue candle, and blue lights are still on for this upcoming week!!

    Hello Ladies,

Welcome to all of our new moms. You have come to the right place. Keep your phones on you at all times and those ringers on loud as you just never know what calls may come thru.

Ladies, Mine is in ROM to and he will be finishing up in a couple of days as well. So even when they have moved on from A school depending where they are and where they are going sometimes they may have to go into ROM to.

I was smiling as I was remembering when you ladies would look thru the RTC pages to see your SR's. Well, I have to say I am able to go to the page that he is at and low and behold I find a picture of him!!! Oh my gosh I was so excited.  I just wanted to share that. Lol

VintageGal- you are on the home stretch. Prayers for your SR to finish strong and only good calls to come.

It was my grandson's birthday so we celebrated all weekend and yes I got all kinds of snuggles!!! We had cake today after lunch and have been chillin and watching football of course!! Lol

It is a beautiful 85 degrees here. Whoo Hoo.

Kristel2400- Whoo Hoo you are in the home stretch. Prayers for your SR to finish strong and healthy. BNH's to you!!!

LBF- Now I know how you feel that is exactly how I felt this morning when I saw his picture. I was like whoo hoo. Lol

NWM- beautiful post. It is amazing to watch them grow and mature as they start this journey on their own.

Enjoy the rest of the day ladies and gent. God Bless and have a great Sonday!!!

Good afternoon PartyofSeven - Enjoy your snuggle time with the grandson and your football!! Hubby's team is winning so he is happy.

I was just going to chime in that even if sailors are allowed to take leave at the holidays and fly commercially, they will likely be taking a 14 day ROM as well before they join back to their command.

  • Shanny

Evening everyone!!!  I am around but in true Shanny style, I managed to tweak my back today. I’m embarrassed to say I was literally putting something in the oven and turned wrong. I have been crying and whining ever since. Hurts to sit, hurts to stand, walking is work, bending over to pick up a dropped fork took many different movements and lot of minutes.

Chipmunk:  my sailor said his sponsor said if he takes leave after A School he will have to go into ROM for 14 days when he shows up to his duty station.  It is a requirement on that base right now.

Partyofseven:  did you say in the 80s?!?!  I have been wearing a winter coat in the mornings we are down in the low 30s in the morning and today we reached 44 last I checked. I need summer back

looks like another hurricane heading for Pensacola again. Let’s hope this one dies out...

i am so excited for PIR this week for our moms and their sailors!!!  I feel like the posse should ride just in celebration!! I need to try to walk the dog. Fingers crossed he is kind tonight and doesn’t want to pull me all over

I remember having to stand up at the back of the class in boot camp. Warm room, warm afternoon after lunch, perfect recipe for dozing.

Room inspections in A school or barracks in the fleet: trash can must be empty and clean.  They made us have our lockers open, so no hiding it.  Use liners and hide any trash which happens between emptying it and the inspection under your folded clothing in your drawers.  Yes, we had to have our drawers open too. The guy was moving furniture to be sure we had cleaned behind it!!  That was pretty extreme.  The locker inspection is "health and safety" so don't count on being able to hide anything.
And then there was the time I had to counsel the gal in my platoon (the Navy used Army terms during training while I was in, weird).  We had to keep our dress uniform shoes in shoeboxes.  One of the girls came to me and was worried because her roommate's box was full of weed.  Like full to the top.  These days, it would be an automatic out, but I chewed on this kid for a while and gave her the chance to "correct her behavior" off the record.  I scared her for sure, and that was before I knew I could be scary, ha. I wasn't too worried, I knew if she kept it up she'd pop positive on a test soon enough.  I don't think she finished ET A school...

Shanny- hey lady you need a break! Tell that puppy to keep it chill on his walk :) dang girl you’re making me shiver just thinking about those temperatures. Party and I have the same temps. Desert kids.

Yes, the posse shall ride with disinfectant in hand- I sound like a helicopter mom which I was not. Lol
And y’all know I bought those Navy Mom shirts but do you think I’ve been wearing them... NOPE not until after I get that call. It was a bit premature buying them but there they are hanging in my closet just waiting :) They’ll get worn come hell or high water I’ll tell ya that! Lol - ranting. Seriously every time my phone rings I run for it and pray!!
My dear boy, I am so proud of you and may the Lord give you strength! HERE YOU GO!

I’ve got my little Navy tree lights on and I will be lighting my blue candle as much as possible this week. BREEEEEEAAATH

Anti M- Appreciate the advice as always. I forwarded your last post to my sons email :) read up buddy!
  • Anti M

VintageGal, if my stories are ever out of date, I hope he gets a good chuckle at least!  Sailors love to tell stories.

  • VintageGal

Anti M - either way I’m loving it! :) I am a physical education aid and the PE teacher that I work with was also in the Navy. I love hearing her stories about Boot Camp and life while she was in the fleet. It’s the one person I can talk to outside of this NFM that has had first-hand experience.

    Shanny,

Bases will start announcing their plans as we get closer to the holidays about restrictions and leave. I'm praying that we will all get to see our Sailor's over the holidays. It's good thou that they are doing that. We have to keep all of our Sailor's healthy.

Yes 85 it has been a long time coming for us. I will take your cold thou.  :)

Be careful on your walk and tell puppy to take it easy on you.

Chipmunk- yes I did thank you. The games were good today. Glad your hubby's team is winning.

I had talked to my Sailor earlier and we had talked about ROM and taking leave. :)

VintageGal- yes desert kids. :) That's allright about your shirts, you will be wearing them soon enough. I have my blue lights on as well.

Anti M- oh my gosh. What was the girl thinking? Goodness. Lol

I love to listen to the stories as well.

Hi Ladies:  New Boot Camp Mom.  I just found this website.  My SR I believe just finished battle stations today and should be PIR on Thursday maybe.  He's on his 3rd division since entering back in July.  ROM's are killing him.  We've been praying like crazy for no more ROM's but as someone said, they will continue into the next phase.

  • Shanny

Partyofseven:  I think when he spoke to his sponsor they were still thinking he would be graduating the beginning of November from A School. So I don’t know how much the fact he still hasn’t started classes changes his procedures and rules.
I am so sick of the cold already. My baby doesn’t like me wearing gloves and will fight me trying to steal them. I swear he is a four legged furry thief lol   Hoping my back eases up so I can get some more leaves  raked tomorrow when it is supposed to reach 50. But I also heard one news report saying chance of snow flurries tomorrow evening.
VintageGal:  I know you will be rocking your Navy Mom shirts with pride very soon!
Anti M:  I love your stories!  I can’t believe what some people think they can get away with!!

my puppy was good on his walk. He went straight to the neighbor’s fence and went potty then back to the house. Didn’t try to do our regular around the yards walk. He got an extra treat for being good!

Going to plug the heating pad back in and watch some mind numbing bad tv lol

Mellie - We are glad you have joined us. Wow, your son has had a lot at BC!! You would have been a great asset to many of our moms who are recently going through their SRs just getting pulled from their divisions and sent into ROM.

  • Shanny

Mellie:  Welcome to the group!!!  You have come to the right place!  I am so sorry for the ROM your SR has been through!  Hopefully you are on the end of that with BC!  My son went through PIR 9/24 and is in A School still waiting for his classes to start. Sticking around this page for the great knowledge, help and friendships here!

  • Mellie

Chipmunk - I thought that too.  Lots of daily prayers for our recruit.  One day at a time.

Shanny - Interesting info. that he's in A school still waiting.  My very impatient son probably needs to hear that.  He was supposed to graduate on 9/11 the first time.

Do they get to use their cell phones during their off-duty time after Boot Camp?  Was being hopeful.
