    Good evening everyone!!

Shanny - I agree - why are their only 2 lanes open at the store!!

BelovedbyHim and C'sMom - I realized after reading more that there is likely to be a Christmas standdown and 2 wk ROM afterwards, so yes, I agree - if he is able to come on home, he might as well.

Welcome to all of our new members. We are glad you are here and look forward to helping you through your next weeks of BC.

Shoosh - I am glad you had some encouraging messages posted here for your daughter.

Oh Shanny - I really like your boots!!

Well I was gone this afternoon from the house - but before I left, I actually pulled out my youngest son's advent calendar to hang on the inside of the front door. He is almost 18 and I am sure that this will likely be the last year for him to mess with it, but I was still really pleased with myself that I had it pulled out and the other advent calendars when it was still DEC 1st. I  don't think I have done that for several years now. I started cleaning up the laundry from the company and there will be more tomorrow.

C'sMom-- No You are not over thinking things. So a Couple of things happen.
    1. They get in trouble or
    2. They do not get in trouble. It all depends on how they handle things. I live in Colorado so we have had this happen. To Avoid 1 they MUST Do 3.
#3 --They Need to Notify Command ASAP if not sooner!! As soon as they are aware there is a possibility they may be delayed they need to contact their command and be prepared to leave sooner. If the storm comes up closer to their departure and it was not forecast then they just still notify their command and make sure they (Command) Knows at all times what the Sailor’s return plans are and when they will get back. It’s still Late and they may still face some discipline (Mostly just a dressing down) but that’s better than not reporting and getting marked AWOL!! This is why they suggest getting back a day early. This also applies for other weather events that cause delays. If it looks like they will be later than their Leave time expires they need to contact command ASAP!! (Car breakdowns, flight delays, Illness that prevents flying, Any Injury that impacts their fitness for duty...) They usually are given a briefing on this as well so they should know what to do.

Shanny,  I realized I'm wearing clothes that old, too.  Lol  I do really like them.  I got them late this summer, though, and haven't worn them in the really cold.  Yesterday and today don't count because it will get a lot colder.  My daughter bought a pair also.

  • belovedbyHim

Chipmunk-- I figured that you just didn't realize that the schools would be closed. I still don't have any decorations up.

I'm bummed that I can't see Shanny's shoes!! I may have to try a different browser.
  • Shanny

BelovedbyHim:  I. tried to send them in a message... maybe you can see them that way...

I know they are just boots but I kept going back and looking at them for like a week and then the big sale came up....

  • C'sMom

Beloved:  thanks for that information.  That all makes sense.  Now to get my sailor down to San Antonio so we can make plans!

  • belovedbyHim

C'sMom -- You are welcome and agreed!!
  • belovedbyHim

Shanny-- Oh Yes!!! Those are super Cute!!! I see why you wanted them!! They look super warm and sturdy! I tried to reply to your message. sorry if you got multiple messages.

Good Morning to all of our new moms and welcome to our group, You have come to the right place. We are glad you are here.

Keep those phones on you at all times and those ringers on loud as you never know when a call will come thru. Hopefully letters have been coming to.

C'sMom- Yes they do have a shut down for two weeks. I wasn't able to post fast enough. Lol Mine was there for A school and they shut down for two weeks. And no, your not over thinking anything and you want yours to be able to come home during the holiday.

    Big hugs to you!!!

BBH- Thanks for the info. I just wasn't able to answer her right away.

Good Morning everyone!! May you all have a wonderful day!! We are looking forward to getting to know our new round of BC Moms and loved ones whether your loved one is at RTC yet or getting ready to head out in the near future.

Shoosh - yay on Christmas, boo on no sailor.

NWM - I hear ya on the living life because it is too precious to waste! I wash hands and keep my distance but the mask is the one hill I am willing to die on..

Anti-M - money talks and the only way they may click is if you stiff them on their tip. I did wal mart delivery a lot in the past and I was impressed with them picking out my veggies.  I know I should avoid nightshades but potatoes, tomatoes and bell peppers are such a big part of my diet. I consume a moderate top generous amount of turmeric hoping to balance it out but my hands still ache.

Vintage - yes 1880 edition of “Ray’s Higher Math”

Party - praying your good news pans out. I have possible good news as well and am trying NOT to get my hopes up…thanks for the gift ideas!

NewMilMom - yes, do stick around - long enough you can call yourself “OldMilMom”  They can’t have ice cream at RTC until AFTER they pass the final PFA. Same goes for all sweets… I thought a kid of mine mentioned ice cream but now I can’t recall.

Phoenix- hoping there isn't too much more of a mess in  your house!

Shanny - your boots photo is nerfed. I LOVE shoes and cute boots! How sweet your brother still buys you Christmas presents! My sister and I stopped years ago and my brother hasn;t talked to me since we became adults. I got him in trouble when I was 13 so he won’t speak to me ever again. (I have no clue as he never got in serious trouble with my parents).

BBH - I am sitting at my computer freezing my hands off here in central FL. It is like 40 outside. As far as COVID goes since you can have it being asymptomatic (read - healthy) then I suppose even 1 or 2 mild symptoms could be true too..
The CFA here and the CFA my nephews worked at in TX also kind of awful. Before COVID if you were throwing up sick they still wanted you to work.

Chipmunk - waves and virtual hugs!

Good morning ladies and I am back to my “project” after a hot cup of coffee!

  • Shanny

Ok let’s try this again!  Still on sale but not Black Friday sale... and down to one size available in this color!

C’sMom: I haven’t owned a winter type boot since my sailor was in college!  That’s a lot of years lol I’ve been wearing my sailor’s snow boots from 4th grade when I have to plow snow. So this is going to be a new experience..  boots that fit me and are ok in snowing conditions.

Good Morning All! Happy Wednesday to you all, hoping this morning finds all well!

Well I took Y'all's advice and went and got me a 12 gallon shop vac wet/dry was on sale at home depot. it works wonders! My daughter briana was laughing at me because I introduced her to my New friend which was the vac, LOL! Told her ridge meet briana…….We both rolled laughing she said she was going to tell my oldest about my new friend! LOL! just to see the expression on her face would be Hilarious! it worked great, also picked up a roller for my fridge and sliders for my New Kitchen furniture. trying to think ahead! Thank Goodness for Paychecks! Also invested in Drop cloths so when they are finished as my floors will be delayed I can put them down to step on throughout the house. also doing some painting so it all works out. the guy working on my home offered to get all my Kachina dolls and pottery dusted for me so I will take him up on that. They had put plastic all around to seal off so dust wouldn't get everywhere but they pulled it down but it will go up again today. just taking one day at a time! Breathe Sylvia Breathe! LOL! My neighbors are all getting curious as to what am I having done, as they see things coming and going in a big trailor. My Cabinets will be put up I believe this weekend and Monday my Countertops. so we are progressing. Just really excited to see the outcome.

To all the new comers good Morning, Please come Introduce yourselves and come speak to all the Wonderful Ladies that are here for the same reason you are. Come ask questions and learn this first part of the Journey! Welcome Again!

  • Phoenixmom

By the way I love the boots, only place you would where them here is two hours north of Phoenix where it snows, here in phx your feet will sweat. we do wear boots with dresses and skirts but those are for cold weather. today high of 72 tomorrow 64/65 those are our winters here. Grand Canyon 4 below flagstaff 35 so there is quite a difference heading north.

    Morning Prayer:

My Lord I wait for you,. My heart is eager but I will wait on your timing. Help me prepare my heart and my actions to be ready for instruction. Speak clearly to me so I know how to serve and glorify you better. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

    Good morning ladies,

Pheonixmom- Ha! That’s great! I’m glad you’re happy with your new vac :) it’s so handy to have. It sounds like you’ll be cooking up tasty dishes in no time! My goodness whenever you talk about the meals you cook I’m over here with my mouth watering!
I’m so excited for you it sounds like everything is going great :) you deserve it!

Shanny and C’smom - that Sperry brand is super cute! Our DSW shoe store carries them and I’ve always liked them. I want a pair of their boat shoes this summer :)

Ladybluefire - All the different ways that they teach math these days is mind boggling. You’re taking it back to the basics waaaaaay back to the basics ;) lol enjoy working on your “project”!

Thinking of all of you who are battling this illness from the extreme to the mild symptoms. I hope everyone recovers quickly. We don’t have time for this illness! <3

Have a wonderful day ladies! Just enjoyed my book, coffee, and breakfast, now time to get ready for work :) I love my morning quiet time!
  • VintageGal

VintageGal:  oh I have the boat shoes too!!!  Don’t be surprised if they run big. I wear a 6 and had to exchange them for a 5. But they are so comfy!!!  And cute!

  • Phoenixmom

VintageGal I love the gift! A few years back I had bought my Son a Apple Tablet and carrying Case he so Loved It. Great Gift! I need to hurry and get his Goodie Packages together to send off but he isn't at Sea yet they are Quarantining still, I guess a Sailor in his dept got hit with Covid. Wonder how this Year is gonna go for the Carrier Ugh!

  • Phoenixmom

All these Small feet! LOL! I am 5'9 1/2 with a 10 foot oops did I just say that! LOL! My daughter always teases my Grandson you better behave because nana is going to get her size 10 Chankla (Sandal) on your behind. LOL!

  • Shanny

PhoenixMom:  I have always said I was 5’2 but reality is probably 5’1. I may be shrinking already lol  when I was in college I would buy boys running shoes because I could wear a size 4 in boys and they had cooler and lots cheaper shoes. I am not a pink person and it seemed like running shoes always had pink on them for women

  • Shanny

Just got a call!!!  My Sailor has passed his A School and earned his belt buckle!  Sent me a picture too!  The belt buckle seems like a big deal

  • partyofseven

Phoenixmom- Good Morning, I love it. I wear a size 6 or 6 1/2. So I have a small foot to.

Glad you went and got a shop vac. It will help you so much.

    Shanny- Whoo hoo that's awesome!!!

  • partyofseven

LBF- I hear  you. I don't want to get to excited either. Prayers for both of us to have good news soon. And you are very welcome on the gift ideas. Have a great day!!!

C'sMom- I love those boots yours I mean. They are so pretty and I love the flat heels.I going to have to order some.  :) Like Phoenixmom said we can only wear them up north or when it gets really cold in the valley.

  • Phoenixmom

Alright Shanny! Congratulations to your Son! WHOOOO HOOOO!

  • VintageGal

Shanny ~ Congratulations to your Sailor! That’s great news!
  • Anti M

Shanny, congrats to your sailor, time for the next adventure.  LOL, after he hurries up and waits for it...

I need to get my cold weather shoes out.  We're cold, but I don't go anywhere.  I will need my snow boots soon just to schlep around the yard.

  • Chipmunk

LBF - Waves and virtual hugs right back at you!!

I love all the pictures of the boots. I may just have to look into some of those water boots for around here.

VintageGal - That portfolio looks really nice!!

Shanny - WooHoo!!! Congratulations to your sailor!! You will have to fill us in on what the belt buckle means.

  • Shoosh

Thank you ladies for your words and your support. I am sitting here in tears, again. Trying so hard to be patient, I just want to hear her voice and know that she is ok. Praying that with the shut down over Christmas she will get through quickly. I'll be sure to keep you all posted.

  • NewMilmom

    Good Morning Everyone,

Sunny & will be warm here again today...mornings 43-50 degrees then 80's or so afternoons...geez! wish it would pick 1 season each day. rofl....  My poor horse is his normal wooly mammoth for winter so these warm days are really NOT good for him.  They get their winter coat with the shorter days ...so no way to avoid it.  Just praying No Colic with weather being bi-polar on top of it.

Shanny- Congrats to your Sailor (& momma)... So GREAT!!

VintageGal - Love the personalized leather padfolio.  Nice!!!

All y'all with nice little feet -envious here.   I am 5'2" but I have the "average everyone has size" 7.5 foot..makes shopping hard as always sold out before any other sizes... my 2 daughters have the same foot size so they are cursed too in search for nice reasonable shoes in their sizes.  I can find a pair of shoes/boots & when I look for 7.5 size the price tends to be a bit higher when ordering on-line too...dang it.

Love everyone's Sperry winter boots...we don't have real winter here, but wish I had known about those the years we lived in NY.  Sure would have been beneficial to have then.

We have silence from our new Sailor since Thanksgiving & dh is getting anxious... I had to remind him 3 times yesterday & last night, "no new is good news" in the Navy.   His sister texted & no response too but, she knows the "no new is good news" mantra better than dh...hahahahaha!

Hopefully they are keeping them busy & productive vs. just sitting around which is not good for any of us.

I joined the American Cancer December 50 squat challenge...day 2 and I have done fine thus far...I have to break it up to manageable sets as NO way I can do 50 at a clip... I actually started a few days before challenge to see what I could do so have done 100 for 3 days...I may not be able to keep that up all month but, hoping to manage the 50 minimum each day ...

Yesterday was a total zoo at work with issues/phones etc...

Today silence...I actually prefer the crazy days to phone silence as that usually means trouble/issues will come in a big way ...hahaha!!!  At least around here it seems.

Hoping y'all have a great day.  May the calls, letters & good news arrive today for each of us.

  • TreyLexisMom

My son called yesterday evening, he left just over 3 weeks ago and had just arrived for P-Days last Monday. Someone in the bunk next to him tested positive yesterday (they are still at Ship 1), everyone around that person is being moved to the drill hall for another 2 weeks of quarantine. His recruiter had some contacts and found out that there is an outbreak currently, another recruit that left from here in October is still in quarantine. My question for anyone that has had a sailor graduate in the last month or 2: do they get to send/receive mail at the drill hall and will they get to make additional phone calls? he was already pretty down because of all of this..

    thanks

  • Chipmunk

Shoosh - None of this is easy but I hope that you can find a project or something to occupy your time. Is there a favorite cookie that your daughter likes?  Yes, I know that really isn't probably the ideal thing with still trying to stay in shape, but you could make up a batch and stick them in the freezer for when she gets home. Or some other special meal that she likes. I am sure she will be looking forward to some home cooked meals.

TreyLexisMom - Hopefully some of the others who have gone through the entire extra ROM with their SRs will reply, but yes, they can receive mail still but an extra phone call, not likely. So write your letters and watch for a reply from the others. I think they were writing ROM in the bottom left corner of the envelope but I don't remember.

  • Phoenixmom

NewMilMom way to go on the squats!

TreyLexisMom with the covid I am sure they will remain in Quarantine , they get mail as soon as someone is trained to do it as far as calls it just depends. Remember No News is Good News. Sorry he is feeling so down I can't even begin to imagine what is going on over that way! Keep your Head up!

First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition

  • Shanny

TreyLexiMom:  has your son been assigned a division or has he not gotten that far yet?  My son didn’t do an additional ROM so I am not sure how it works but I think you need their mailing address from before to send mail...  I think you need the Ship # and Division #. But someone else should have more knowledge.

Shoosh:. I am so sorry.   I wish I could give you a huge ole hug right now!  It’s so hard when our children are going through something and we can’t be physically there to help. I don’t have any idea how to make the time go by for you..  I’d probably do a deep clean of my son’s room again. Wash all bedding again. But that takes a day and not much time at all.

  • Shanny

So what I am understanding on the belt buckle is that he can’t have it until he earns the right to say he is truly an ABE. He sent me a picture and it is an American flag with the white lines green (he is a green shirt) and the emblem for ABE on it. So you have to earn it by completing and graduating the training.

  • partyofseven

TreyLexisMom- Welcome and it is good that you are here.

Sorry to hear about your SR. I know that when you do send him mail to put ROM in the bottom corner so the mail person can see it. Since he's at the drill hall I'm not sure. Hopefully the other moms can fill in the rest for us. We are also learning to as we go thru this covid. Everything changes.

Big hugs as you wait and tell him to hang in there.

Shanny- That's pretty neat to know.

  • C'sMom

Well, I have the Sperry boat shoes, as well!  :) and I wear a size 5.  That's as hard to find as 7 1/2s because some stores don't carry that size at all (Kohl's) and others don't carry very many!

So my sailor texted me today and said he heard Texas is shutting down.  I didn't think to ask where he heard that.  And he was first in line today to go and check his status.  The guy came out and asked what he was waiting to do.  My sailor told him, and he said "too bad" and put a sign out that said they can only check statuses on Fridays between 8 and 9.  I'm afraid if he doesn't get to Texas soon, he will be stuck there over Christmas and his birthday and won't get to San Antonio until 2 weeks after Christmas, at least.  And if he's in THU, we can't mail him cards or anything for Christmas or his birthday!  So he'll just be sitting in THU twiddling his thumbs all these weeks.

  • C'sMom

Shanny, congrats on your sailor finishing school.  It seems like it wasn't that many weeks he PIRed and was then waiting to class up!

  • Shanny

C’sMom:  OMG that is so annoying!  I am so sorry. I am angry for you and for him!  I get the conditions of this pandemic are messing with everything but I would think they would have this figured out by now!

  • Shanny

C’sMom: he PIRd September 24. Shipped to school September 28th. Didn’t Class up until November 2. His school was supposed to be 6 weeks and became 4 weeks instead. Now he is in a waiting pattern again for updated orders since he was supposed to graduate a month ago. He said he is going to start cleaning up today and tomorrow and selling things he can’t take with him (some saltwater fishing gear his old roommate sold him and some other stuff). Just ready to move on at this point I think.

  • Phoenixmom

C'Mom I think it's Texas in itself shutting down or curfew. I believe I heard something like that on the News!

  • Phoenixmom

Sorry I meant C'sMom. excuse typo.
